Social Club Potluck Dinner
Saturday, October 18th
Join your fellow, friendly inhabitants of Lake Park as we relish the spooky décor, dine on devilishly delicious potluck dishes, and enjoy the entertainment.
5:00 p.m. – Costume Contest & Social Hour
6:00 p.m. – Potluck Dinner
7:00 p.m. – Entertainment
Please bring a main, side, salad, or dessert to serve a dozen Hungry Goblins.
The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board in the clubhouse, and we’d like to have a final count by Wednesday, October 15th.
Costumes are NOT required… just encouraged. Join the fun! Check out the Costume Contest information on the opposite page. As always, all residents are invited to enjoy the entertainment by entering one of the side doors no earlier than 6:50 p.m.
Annual Halloween Costume Contest on October 18th!
We’re throwing it back to the good old days when costumes were simple, fun, and if you were lucky, mom let you cut holes in an old sheet so you could be a ghost. Plastic pumpkins and pillowcases carried your loot door-to-door, then you traded candy with your siblings and friends at the end of the night.
Contest is open to all residents/guests attending the dinner! Here are the rules for this year’s costume contest.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
1) Individuals are encouraged to participate. Groups will be accepted; however, a group will be limited to four (4) contestants. The group will be registered as one contestant.
2) Dinner must start on time, so all participants must register by 5:30pm. There will be no exceptions to the registration deadline, and all contestants MUST line up for introductions NO LATER THAN 5:40pm.
3) Each contestant will be introduced, and all contestants will remain on the stage until everyone has been introduced. Voting will take place when the last contestant has been introduced.
How will just ONE winner be selected?
Once the introductions are complete, everyone, including contestants, will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite costume/contestant.
1)There will be just one vote per dinner attendee.
2)Directions for depositing the ballots will be provided the night of the dinner. There will be a reward for voting quickly!
3)Votes will be tallied during dinner, and the winner will be announced before the entertainment begins.
If you or your neighbor is sick, injured, or hospitalized, please call Jodi Faber, LPSAN We Care Coordinator, at 714-345-4662, or send an email to the newsletter editor, LPSANSC@gmail.com
Jodi will reach out for permission to include the resident in this section. Due to privacy regulations (HIPPA), personal and/or medical information cannot be shared without consent.
There were no reports of illnesses, surgeries, or other medical challenges at the time this month’s newsletter was submitted to the printer.
Keep healthy by eliminating mosquitoes!
Once again, residents are experiencing bites followed by itching. The best, and only true option, is to eliminate the breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Did you know a bottle cap with just a teaspoon of water is a romantic oasis for a pair of mosquitoes?
If you see standing water in a public area, please contact the office immediately. If a neighbor has water standing in their yard, in planters, or anywhere else, please ask the neighbor if you can help them eliminate the breeding ground. Management is here to help us, but they are not responsible for keeping our yards pest free. Orange County Vector Control always recommends removing standing water as the first line of defense. Pest control companies are not necessarily the solution, but they are always an option and an expense.
Living in a 55+ community means we always have a few residents with moderate to severe health challenges, and we are aware of a few individuals who need our good thoughts and prayers. However, we respect their wish to keep their matters private. If your neighbor is ill, we encourage you and your fellow neighbors to check on them. Leaving a “Get Well/Thinking About You” note on a doorstep can certainly brighten a person’s a day.
If you have been sick with a bacterial or viral infection (common cold), please respect your fellow Lake Park residents by being symptom-free at least 7 to 10 days before resuming any social activities within our community.
HelloAll,
Awesome October to you. Well, we’ve survived yet another summer, though this one was milder overall than some I recall. With shorter days, longer nights, and cooler temps we now find ourselves at the beginning of snuggle season. Whether it be with a partner, a pet, or your favorite blanket, book, and glass of wine, it all sounds cozy.
This monthAlfred Nobel came into the world; he was the creator of the “Nobel Peace Prize” as well as the inventor of Dynamite. Now, there’s a little irony for you. Bill Gates, Co-Founder of Microsoft, a company which causes explosive impacts on the world of a somewhat different type, was also born this month. We celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy on Monday the 13th. The front-line defense of our country by the men and women that have served and are currently serving in the greatest navy ever known, is unparalleled. We sleep much more securely due to their endeavors. With the humblest of gratitude I thank and salute all who have donned the uniform of UNITED STATES NAVY!!!
The early Saxons called October “wine month” so be sure to come honor that proclamation by joining your neighbors and friends for a glass of wine, or whatever your preferred libation is, on the 18th at the monthly Social Club dinner. This month is the Annual Fall Harvest/Halloween Potluck. Please sign up early. Bring your most ghoulish culinary treat and we’d love to see you wear your most devilish costume.
I’ll close this month by giving heartfelt thanks to the past and especially the most recent HOA board members for their efforts in supporting our community. We all appreciate you and look forward to sharing in the future of Lake Park SantaAna North with you.
As always, I look forward to seeing you all,
Dan Miller

Message from Davina & Wayne – October 2025
Trash & Recycling at the Clubhouse:
1. Trash from the clubhouse should be placed in the trash cans outside the kitchen-area entrance, and the lids on those cans should be kept closed. The trash cans outside the clubhouse are for clubhouse trash ONLY! Residents – Please DO NOT place your personal, household trash in the bins outside the clubhouse.
3. The storage of recycling items outside of the clubhouse has improved. However, Wayne and the RP’s are continuing to find recyclables spilled all over within the containment area. Please make sure all bags are tied tightly, and it helps reduce ants and other pests if you rinse your recyclable items.
4. Homesite Audits: We are continuing to do audits, so please make sure that you are ready for yours. Reports will be provided, and any corrective actions need to be completed in 20 days. If you need additional time, contact the office to set up a plan. We are here to work with everyone, but progress needs to be continual.
Street Sweeping typically happens every other week on Thursdays. EPM owns the street sweeper and the trash truck. The two guys that are responsible for both also help as needed in all the parks. If you have the ADA ramps in front of your garage, please pull them up onto the “sidewalk” late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Clear pathways help the sweeper do a better job, and it allows for dirt, debris, and water to be removed.
We are here for you, Davina & Wayne
P.S. “I hope everyone will be attending the October Social Club Dinner and Halloween Contest. “I love decorating for fall, and I love seeing our residents participate in the costume contest.” - Davina
Please remember to break down all cardboard boxes placed at the curb for trash pickup.

Lake Park Santa Ana North Social Club General Meeting Minutes August 12, 2025
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Dan Miller, President at 7:05 p.m.
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:
Dan Miller Scott McKee Jodi Faber Lynn Dahnke Beverly McDougall Ron Ruvalcava Bonnie Kamp Jeff Cantrell Kim Cantrell
FLAG SALUTE: Cindy Robertson led the Pledge of Allegiance
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Dan Miller thanked everyone for coming out.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: Dan reminded everyone that the Social Club’s Minutes are on a clipboard on the library door, and they are printed in the newsletter.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Dan presented the Financial Report on behalf of Lynn Dahnke. O
Dan reported that more than 160 meals were served at The Annual 4th of July Celebration. There had been earlier projections of a 15% increase in cost for this year’s event. Dan highlighted the following information: 2025 July 4th expenses were $1,072.23 compared to the 2024 July 4th expenses of $1,306.80 The cost for this year’s event rose just 2.43% while the cost of living rose by 3.01%, so we were 20% under the cost-of-living increase. Between Lynn and me, we went shopping to six different physical stores, and we shopped over a period of 2-½ months. The Dinner Committee repurposed, redid decorations, and loaned some decorations to make the clubhouse look amazing. Everyone’s efforts helped save money without reducing quality. The Per Person Cost this year was $11.46 vs. last year’s cost of $11.19 We had a lot of compliments. The social club also received $199 in Donations this year vs. $165 last year on the 4th of July. Be sure to thank Lynn Dahnke and the Dinner Committee for all their efforts.
WE CARE: Jodi Faber reported:
- Doddie Stirrat (2508 View Lake) had a heart attack, and she needed a stent placed to help her heart. Doddie is doing well, and she and Mike appreciated all the concern, calls, and prayers.
- Dixie Shedwell (2629 Shadow Lake) fell off a ladder. Dixie is ok, but Jodi announced she is on a mission to confiscate all step ladders. Jodi reminded everyone to ask for help, use a grabber, and stop storing items out of reach. Ladders can be dropped off at Jodie’s house.
MANAGEMENT: Wayne and Davina were unable to attend
-Dan Miller reported that management purchased new trash cans with lids, which are a little bigger than the old ones. Please put trash in the cans and close the lid. If the can is full, please place the bag on top of the can. Please tie the bags closed. Otherwise, when the bag is left open it makes a mess, and Wayne and/or the RP’s must clean up the mess. Also, recycling is NOT trash. Please make sure recycling bags are tied closed and placed in the correct area of the enclosure.
-Gate Access: Check the entry gate system to make sure your phone number is correct. If you didn’t get the gate information, you can get a copy in the office. The phone number for the front gate is 714- 538-3492. That will be the number that will call you if someone is at the gate to see you. When you answer the call, speak to the person to identify them. To open the gate for them, press “9” on your phone.
UPCOMING EVENTS
:
- Dan reminded everyone to tell new residents about all the events we have here in the park. Invite them to the Friday Night Social – they may not have seen the Newsletter yet.
- The Social Club’s Annual Ice Cream Social will be on Saturday, August 16th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Scott & Kate McKee are hosting.
-
OPEN DISCUSSION
:
- Critters and Creeps – Dan brought up that too many garage doors are being left open. He has been going around the neighborhood either walking or riding his bike around 10:00 p.m. and is seeing residents leaving their garage door part-way open or completely open. His concern is that if a critter or creep gets in and you go out to the garage you might be frightened by one or the other and may slip and fall. Please keep the garage closed. The critters can make a mess.
- There is a device available that will close the door automatically at a certain time, and it will work with most garage doors. Scott McKee said that some garage doors can connect to the internet and will tell you when your garage is opened, and you can access it remotely. The device is called “My Q.” Dan bought one that plugs in to their garage door. You can get an option from Amazon that will allow them to open the garage door, put your package in your garage, and then the door will close. That option is 100% voluntary.
- Donated Food in Club House – The Assembly of God Church donates left over food to Lake Park after their weekly food distribution. Connie and Dan Hann, and Ron and Jodi Faber help bring the items to the Clubhouse. There is a wide variety of fruit, vegetables, yogurt, etc. Come up and help yourselves. Dan and/or Lynn post an alert about availability on the social club’s Facebook page. Please bring your own bags if you can. The crates need to be kept and returned, but the cardboard can be put in the trash.
- Mike Stirrat thanked everyone for their concern about Doddi. They both appreciated the well wishes.
ADJOURN:
The motion/second to adjourn was made by Mike Stirrat and Steve Heath at 8:10 p.m.
DRAWING WINNERS: Carolyn Finley, Cindy Robertson, Sharon Stephen, Wendy Turney, and Kate McKee

General Meeting Minutes
September 9, 2025
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Dan Miller, President at 7:06 p.m.
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:
Dan Miller Scott McKee Jodi Faber Lynn Dahnke Beverly McDougall Ron Ruvalcava Bonnie Kamp Jeff Cantrell Kim Cantrell
Note: Ron Ruvalcava attended the board meeting, but he was unable to stay for the General Meeting and was excused.
FLAG SALUTE: Lynn Dahnke led the Pledge of Allegiance She then announced that Dan’s birthday is on the 12th, and everyone sang to him, and enjoyed “Birthday Pie” after the meeting.
PRESIDENT’S REMARKS: Dan Miller thanked everyone for coming out, and he expressed his sincere appreciation for the birthday wishes. He reminded everyone that the Social Club’s Minutes are on a clipboard on the library door. The August and September Minutes will appear in the October newsletter
TREASURER’S REPORT: Lynn Dahnke presented the monthly report
OPENING BALANCE AUGUST 1, 2025: $ 7,780.78*
Revenue: $ 1,437.00
Expenses: $ 1,161.49 ENDING BALANCE AUGUST 31, 2025: $ 8,056.29 Net Change: $ 275.51
*Lynn stated the opening balance was adjusted because a reimbursement to a resident was declined. Chuck and Jerrie Loffler donated the ice they purchased for the 4th of July. They previously refused reimbursement for the trailer they rented to transport donations during the Trash-to-Treasure event.
Lynn also shared the expense for the ice cream social was $288.78. That included the purchase of red aprons and decorations Kate McKee asked if we could write a thank you note to Chuck and Jerri. Jodi will send a note. Motion & Second to approve financial report: Doddie Stirrat and Steve Heath.
WE CARE: Jodi Faber reported no report this month! A cheerful round of applause was received.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
-Elections are coming up in December. Andrea Bruneniek has volunteered to Chair the Nomination Committee, and Larry Tierney will assist her. The Elected positions are President, Treasurer, Secretary, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The Members-at-Large, four positions, are appointed by management.
-Dan recognized Lynn’s efforts for the newsletter being finished and delivered prior to the first of September. Dicksey Williams is now coordinating the distribution team.
-Street Sweeping is planned for every other week on Thursdays. EPM owns the street sweeper and the trash truck. The two guys that are responsible for both also help as needed in all the parks. If you have the ADA ramps in front of your garage, please pull them up onto the “sidewalk” late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Clear pathways help the sweeper do a better job.
-Mosquitos! It’s always the same message—check planters and pots, buckets, and other sources of standing water. A bottle cap with a teaspoon of water is a breeding ground for mosquitos. Shelly Felix asked if there was any issue with the lake water since there seems to be a problem at the pool. Dan shared that the cemetery is a bigger challenge for “ponding water” and breeding grounds. Dicksey Williams shared that there are tablets you can put in your water fountains that will kill the mosquito larva and not harm birds or animals if they drink the water. If residents see standing water in a neighbor’s yard, please mention it to the neighbor. If it is a community area, please contact the office.
-Bingo! There were approximately 25 people who came out to play Bingo last week. It was a lot of fun. Ask your neighbors to join you for Bingo. If there are at least 20 people to play bingo, we’ll open the bar as requested. It is best to bring dollar bills for buying into bingo.
-Dan asked Lynn to share about safety and security – Dan and Lynn still have a few of the dusk-to-dawn light bulbs, and they are happy to help residents install them. The bulbs are perfect, and the year-long energy cost is equivalent to about one month of a standard bulb burning only 4 hours per night. Lynn also demonstrated the reflective bands for sale for $1 each. Dan suggested carrying a flashlight and a stick to protect yourself and your pets from coyotes.
General
- Dan, once again, talked about garage doors being left open at night. Just six inches is more than enough for Critters & Creeps! Please let your neighbors know if their door is open and explain the concern. If a Critter or Creep gets in your garage, you may get surprised and get hurt.
UPCOMING EVENTS
:
- Monthly Dinner – Dan reminded everyone the September dinner is on the 20th. Carol Smith shared that the menu is baked potatoes, salad, and apple pie with ice cream. Dan explained, yet again, that $18 is for a meal, dessert, and entertainment, and everyone needs to understand that you cannot get a meal, dessert, and entertainment that cheap anywhere else!
- Cornhole is Back! Starting on the first Sunday of October and on the first Sunday of each following month, Cornhole will be available. Check-in at 1:45pm, and games will begin at 2pm. Games are usually completed by 3:30pm.
MANAGEMENT:
- Wayne asked that everyone remember to put trash inside the trash cans and close the lid. If the can is full, please place the bag on top of the can, and make sure the bag is tied close. Wayne also asked residents to make sure recycling bags are tied closed and placed in the correct area of the enclosure. More information about trash and recycling will be in the October newsletter.
- Wayne invited all residents to the General Emergency Preparations meeting on Tuesday, September 23rd at 7pm in the clubhouse. Volunteers are still needed, and the signup sheets are on a table in clubhouse. We will send out flyers to remind people.
- The air conditioning in the gym is out. It is top priority to be replaced. Both AC units have been approved to be replaced, and Wayne is just waiting on an install date.
- EPM is purchasing chairs to replace the 24 burgundy padded chairs at the round tables in the clubhouse.
OPEN DISCUSSION
:
-Cindy Robertson announced that at the March 20, 2025 HOA meeting, the paid membership present voted to dissolve the HOA. The request to terminate the HOA was filed with the Secretary of State (CA), and it was approved on April 1, 2025. Residents who were paid members between 09/01/2024 and 08/31/2025 will be receiving a notice with a request to confirm acknowledgement. Cindy would like to have the signed forms returned via the box outside of the management office by October 1, 2025. The amount being provided to the social club is just under $9,000.
-Steve Hyter asked Dan if there were any plans for the use of the money. Dan assured everyone that there are no confirmed plans. The sound system belongs to the social club and needs to be updated, but no decision has been made. The money will be placed in the social club account, and a separate line for tracking expenses will be maintained.
-Lynn Dahnke reminded everyone that the Social Club continues to subsidize the monthly dinners to keep the cost at $18 per ticket.
-Shelly Felix asked if a donation box could be made available at the monthly dinners since some residents are in a better position to help offset the costs. Dan stated that he would discuss that with the board.
-Shelly Felix shared a medication/health information form that is designed to help emergency responders and hospital staff quickly access a current situation. Shelly left copies on the piano, and Dan indicated it might be an insert in the next newsletter.
-Mike Strirrat asked when the trees would be trimmed. Wayne informed everyone that trees will be trimmed in September or October; however, Wayne and Davina have not been provided with a date.
-Cindy Robertson asked if the social club has a suggestion box. Dan informed everyone that the box had never been used, so it was removed from the bulletin board to allow for additional information to be posted.
-Bruce Nameth adamantly requested that all speakers in future meetings come to the front and use the microphone. Dan acknowledged the request, and he will ask people to do so.
ADJOURN: The motion/second to adjourn was made by Jeff Cantrell / Steve Heath at 8:14pm.
DRAWING WINNERS: Betsy Ross, Steve Hyter, Cindy Robertson, Jeff Cantrell, and Scott McKee.

October Sudoku
How to solve sudoku puzzles
No math is required to solve a sudoku. You only need logic and patience.
Simply make sure that each 3x3 square region has only one instance of the numbers 1-9. Similarly, each number can only
appear once in a column or row in the larger grid. The difficulty on this puzzle is easy.
