Among the main attractions here, is the Maria Fumaça train ride, which passes through Bento Gonçalves, Garibaldi and Carlos Barbosa stations, it really is a journey into the past. Another route that represents the Italian immigrants that came here, is the

“Caminhos de Pedra” (Paths of Stone), which is 13 km from Bento Gonçalves. On the streets of São Pedro there are houses made of stone and wood from the colonization period. It resembles a piece of the Tuscany region in Italy. To sample the local cuisine, the “Estrada do Sabor” (Flavor Road), in Garibaldi, offers the best delicacies from the region. The attraction takes you

through five family homes that offer tastings of typical dishes and homemade pastries, wines, breads, cheeses and other goodies.

The cities of Gramado and Canela are well known for having the most charming winters in Brazil. They bring the whole experience of the European cold weather a little closer to Brazilians and now tourists can ski and have fun at the Snowland theme park, the 1st snow park in Latin America, located in Gramado.

São Miguel das Missões  Patrimônio histórico e cultural da humanidade - Um dos mais importantes monumentos históricos brasileiros, as ruínas de São Miguel das Missões pertencem, na verdade, ao mundo. Tombadas pela Unesco como Patrimônio Cultural da Humanidade, em 9 de dezembro de 1983, a cidade celebrou no ano passado as três décadas do tombamento das ruínas que ficam quase na fronteira do Rio Grande do Sul com a Argentina e foram heranças deixadas pelas missões jesuítas no século 17. Além disso, exibe todos os dias um belo espetáculo de som e luz. Depois que escurece, as ruínas viram palco para a emocionante apresentação, que dura quase uma hora.

Campos de Cima da Serra  Local tradition is among the main attractions - Campos de Cima da Serra is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Serra Gaúcha and in the country. Surrounded by pine forests, visitors have the opportunity to get up close and personal to natural masterpieces

like the canyons of Aparados da Serra and Itaimbezinho. The etiquettes and customs of the locals are based on ancient culture. In gastronomy, we can especially highlight the food prepared with pinion, beef jerky, pumpkin, cassava, BBQ and desserts with Portuguese origin, like sweet gila, a typical fruit of the region. In winter, the big attraction is the cold weather, where hundreds of tourists go to the region to enjoy the freezing temperatures and snow. São Miguel das Missões  Historical and cultural heritage of humanity - One of Brazil’s most important historic monuments, the ruins of São Miguel das Missões were listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on December 9th 1983 and last year marked the 30th anniversary. The ruins are on the border of Rio Grande do Sul and Argentina and were left as legacies by the Jesuit missions in the 17th century. Everyday the ruins display a beautiful spectacle of light and sound. After dark, they become the stage for an exciting performance, which lasts for an hour. Um espetáculo de cores e costumes que toma conta de Gramado e Canela - Uma série de eventos com a temática natalina envolve Gramado sempre nos últimos meses do ano, de novembro a janeiro do ano seguinte. A cidade se enfeita toda para a ocasião e encanta moradores e visitantes com suas tradicionais decorações e espetáculos natalinos. Cidade vizinha, Canela também “se veste de Natal” durante o período. Não há como não entrar no clima, já que há Papais Noéis, guirlandas, renas e enfeites podem ser vistos em todos os cantos, ruas e esquinas. À noite, milhares de luzinhas iluminam a cidade. A programação é diária e ocorre em diversos locais. Alguns eventos são pagos e outros gratuitos. Em ambos os eventos, avenidas viram palcos de desfiles e atividades natalinas.

Uma comemoração cheia de sabor invade Caxias do Sul - A cada dois anos o município de Caxias do Sul celebra a Festa Nacional da Uva, que remonta aos inícios da colonização italiana no Rio Grande do Sul. É o jeito do destino firmar suas tradições, seu orgulho e seu respeito por aqueles que, por meio de seu trabalho, fé e superação das diferenças, construíram uma cidade próspera.

Muita música e emoção aguardam o público.

Alegria, música, cerveja e gastronomia são os destaques das festas em todas as partes do mundo.

Espumantes e doces combinados com muita música e diversão marcam feiras tradicionais - Uma das festas mais importantes do Rio Grande do Sul, a Fenachamp, conhecida por ser a Festa do Espumante Brasileiro, é voltada para quem adora um bom espumante acompanhado de bons momentos. É possível degustar garrafas nacionais e se divertir ao som de músicas típicas da região. Já os doces tradicionais da Fenadoce – Feira Nacional do Doce – vão transformar a sua boca em parque de diversão de gostos e sabores. Herança da colonização portuguesa, alemã e italiana, os doces são fabricados na cidade de Pelotas e atraem, anualmente, mais de 300 mil pessoas durante 19 dias de festa.

A spectacle of colours and customs that includes Gramado and Canela - There are a series of events with a Christmas theme in Gramado during the last months of the year, from November to January. The whole city is adorned for the occasion and delights locals and visitors with its traditional decorations and Christmas-shows, just like the neighbouring town, Canela. It’s impossible not to get involved, since Santa Claws, wreaths, reindeer and ornaments can be found in every corner and at night, thousands of lights illuminate the city. The events are daily and happen in many different places. Some are free and others have a fee but all the roads become stages for parades and Christmas activities.

A celebration full of flavour invades Caxias do Sul - Every other year the city of Caxias do Sul celebrates the National Grape Festival, which dates back to the beginning of the Italian colonisation of Rio Grande do Sul. It is how the city found its traditions, with pride and respect for those who, through work, faith and overcoming differences, built a thriving city. Lots of music and excitement also await the audience.

Joy and beer mark local editions of the traditional event - In Rio Grande do Sul, the Oktoberfest is held in cities such as Santa Cruz do Sul, Igrejinha, Cerro Largo (Oktoberfest –Missões, as these cities are situated in the region of Missões) , Portão, São Lourenço do Sul (Südoktoberfest, that means South Oktoberfest) , Frederico Westphalen, Alpestre, Condor, Maratá and Santa Rosa.

The biggest events are the ones staged in Santa Cruz do Sul and Igrejinha. Some of these are free, except in exhibitions and gastronomic parks, but the idea of these events, is to rescue the Germanic traditions. Music, beer, food and enjoyment, are the highlights of the celebrations in all parts of the world.

Sparkling wine and sweets combined with great music and fun mark traditional fairs - One of the most important festivals of Rio Grande do Sul, Fenachamp, known as the Party of the Brazilian Sparkling Wine, is geared to anyone who loves a good sparkling wine accompanied by good moments. You can taste domestic bottles and enjoy the sound of music typical of the region. On the other hand, the traditional sweets of Fenadoce - National Fair of Sweets - will transform your mouth into a playground of tastes and flavours. Heritage of Portuguese, German and Italian colonization, the sweets are manufactured in the city of Pelotas and attract more than 300,000 people annually for 19 days of festivities.
