FRIDAY,DECEMBER12 & SATURDAY,DECEMBER13

December, 1998
In 1998, Porters Neck members Rick Batchelor and Ebeneezer (Ebb) Wilkinson, pictured in the red hat, decided to host the very first Ebeneezer golf tournament For the first 10 to 12 years, it was an invitation only event Members would host various ‘stops’ along the golf course with warm clam chowder and bloody mary ’ s The event became so popular that it became an official club event, spear headed by PNCC member, Jim Daly and a planning committee
While the format, fun, and festive gear remained pretty much the same, the members soon decided to make this a charity event. Over the past 8 years, the Ebeneezer has generated over $70,000 for various charities like the Boys and Girls Club, Assistance League, Semper Fi Fund, Good Sheperd, Paws4people, and Hop On a Cure for ALS.
This year, we will be opening the Annual Ebeneezer to all PNCC Golf members as well as Sport members who are on the Golf Waiting List. This is a fun event with a worthy cause. Our charity of choice for 2025 is, NourishNC. This worthy organization mobilizes volunteers and resources to provide supplemental food assistance to the 1 in 6 children in New Hanover County who struggle with hunger. NourishNC’s goal is to enhance children’s health and well-being by preventing the devastating consequences of food insecurity. Our programming supports our vision to be anywhere and everywhere food insecure children need us.

The entry fee is $125 per person and includes: cart fee, lunch, free beer on the golf course, 2 drink tickets, prizes, tee gifts, and a $50 donation to Hop On A Cure Register online or by calling the Pro Shop at 910-686-1177

Please remember our pace of play time is 4 hrs. and 8 minutes for 18 holes. Here are a few hints to help your groups with pace of play:
New golfers or high handicap players should use the forward tees
Allow faster groups to play through Minimize practice swings.
Put a ball mark repair tool, two ball makers and tees into your pocket at the first tee
Take the divot bottle that is on the cart, to your next shot so that you do not have to go back for it after the shot
Carry a spare ball in your pocket so that you do not have to go back to your bag when you need to hit a provisional ball.
Take more than one club to your next shot.
If you are the cart driver, drop off your passenger at their ball before proceeding to your own ball
If you are the passenger, take more than one club to your shot and proceed down the fairway after your shot Do not wait for the driver to pick you up
When in doubt hit a provisional ball Eliminate the need to go back to where you hit your last shot
Limit your search for a lost ball to three minutes.
If your next shot is with your pitching wedge or sand wedge, automatically take your putter with you
Leave golf bags at a point beside the green that is en route to the next tee
Park golf carts to the side or behind the green so that when you finish putting you will be moving away from the field of play and towards the next tee
Study your line of putt while others are putting.
Continue putting until your ball is holed.
If you are the first in the cup, pick up the flagstick so that you can replace it after the last person has putt out
Mark scorecards on the next tee box, not on or next to the putting green
On shots where players who cannot reach the green should hit when ready
Always keep up with the group ahead of you.
