Meet Resin, Our “Stamp of Luxury” Label Grow your sales by standing out on shelf

What is Resin?

Resin is an ultra-high tactile coating produced using a patented process to deliver a 3D label. Compare several Resin labels and they may all look completely different. Color, size and thickness are customizable and give your product a more premium look.

All types are self-adhesive and can come with hot foil and embossing. We currently offer five different types of Resin for your personal care & beauty product.

Seals Enhance your packaging with a self-adhesive seal.

It is the solution to create a premium look-and-feel to your perfume bottle, make-up case, candle or any other type of beauty care packaging. As this is not a one-size-fits-all solution, we offer many possibilities of shape, size and finishing material, all to help personalize your brand.

Seals

Ribbons Add prestigious value to your packaging with a selfadhesive Resin ribbon. A perforation can also be applied to the ribbon, if your bottle requires warranty closure.

Partial Resin label If you want to highlight a certain element of your label, you can choose to finish off with Resin. The self-adhesive label will first be printed offset, digitally, or by silkscreen.

Foil and embossing can be added after. And finally, details of Resin will be the finishing touch to your premium bottle. Both automatic and manual application are possible.

Separated letters The minimum width of a Resin label is 2mm, which allows us to reproduce very thin shapes, logos and texts. The separated or shaped Resin is coated on a pressure sensitive label. There is a clear application tape positioned on the upper front of the label itself.

Oribe’s New Resin Labels Enhance Performance and Aesthetics Oribe Hair Care blends craftsmanship, performance and decades of styling experience to create a new category in hair care. Today, Oribe is a best-selling, award-winning brand that has strong loyalty with their consumers.

Healthy hair starts at the scalp. That’s why Oribe started the The Serene Scalp Collection. These products approach scalp health holistically by targeting areas of concern. Inspired by skincare technology, the Serene Scalp family provides a step-by-step hair regimen that includes a cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliator and targeted treatments for overall hair health.

Oribe wanted to improve the packaging of not only the Serene Scalp Collection, but all liters Oribe produces if the concept proved successful.

Optimizing product performance Oribe had challenges in the past with their shampoo and conditioner pumps not staying locked. Oribe phased in a new pump that has an improved locking mechanism. This enabled Oribe to work with MCC to

find a solution for more decorative labels on the cap.

MCC suggested implementing Resin labels, which give a luxurious look to their already premium brand. The “S”, “C”, and “M” labels written on the Resin labels also provide a nice functional aspect. The labeling makes it easy for stylists at the backbar in salons to quickly see which product they need (S is shampoo, C is conditioner, etc). The Resin label improves the aesthetic greatly, and also makes the stylists lives easier - a great win, win for all parties.

Elevating consumer experience Oribe implemented MCC’s Resin label onto their package, and as a result, enhanced the consumer experience. Since Resin labels have a strong adhesive with a rubber feel and a high-end look, not only did the visual experience change for the better, the functional use did as well. Due to the great feedback and success, the Resin label was rolled out for the whole Serene Sculp collection.

Due to the great feedback and success, the Resin labels are now being rolled out for all Oribe liter products. Both the brand and the user are happy with the results!

Aveeno’s New Haircare Look Connects with Consumers Johnson and Johnson shifts gears to focus on haircare Following the purchase of Vogue International, Johnson & Johnson’s Aveeno brand decided to refocus on hair care. Vogue is the owner of hair care brands OGX and Maui Moisture. Aveeno has always been strong in the skin care category but wanted to leverage the capabilities and knowledge that came along with Vogue’s beauty expertise. Vogue was then awarded to be Johnson & Johnson’s haircare center of excellence.

The first thing Vogue addressed was that Aveeno had an inconsistent haircare assortment of just 11 products and approached the category in much the same way as others in its range. As sales had been dwindling, it was determined that Aveeno needed to rebrand their outdated haircare labels.

Premiumization doesn’t always mean flashy foils Since the Aveeno brand is more geared towards wellness, the strategy was to stay away from flashy foils like Vogue’s OGX brand. Instead, they wanted to highlight the natural ingredients Aveeno uses.

printing and liked the combination of UV white for the background design. This combination allowed for vibrant, intricate designs that highlighted the main ingredients of each collection and provided a luxury feeling to the marquee of label.

Aveeno’s rebrand success Aveeno has now introduced their revamped, 25-item assortment of shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and styling products across six ingredient-focused collections. The new labels are connecting with consumers and are showing great success in the North American market. Due to this success, Aveeno is now in the middle of launching their new haircare branding in Europe.

This is just one example of how to revamp your product to connect with your target audience. Many people

Patrol Grooming Products Get a Face-Lift in Packaging As the world is always changing, M&M’s Patrol Grooming Products brand realized they need to reposition themselves to stay current with today’s buyer preferences. Their customer base varies in education, profession, economic status, hobbies, and relationship status but their commonality is that they want to be confident in their appearance.

Their target consumer is an active man on social media who believes it is extremely important to stay on trend.

Packaging rebrand Since staying on trend is so important to Patrol Grooming Products consumers, M&M approached Multi-Color to implement their new packaging rebrand. The idea was to elevate the brand to no longer be seen as a brand their dads use.

Instead they wanted to be relatable and trendy, and their packaging needed to match.

Increased sales The solution was a luxury folding carton package design that is sleek and desirable to younger men. The new design uses bold colors and combination varnishes to appear as a more premium product. Patrol Grooming Products now have packaging they can be proud of.

The results of their rebranding campaign have proven to be successful with sales increasing post-launch.

The importance of packaging Packaging design is the face of your product and can really make or break your first impression with a potential consumer. It is important for you as a brand owner to take note of your audience’s preferences and communicate those to Multi-Color so we can collaborate and find a package design that will speak to them and influence purchase.

AB Brands, LLC Launches New Earth Supplied Brand with Elegant Packaging

Earth Supplied is born AB Brands, LLC saw a void in the marketplace for multicultural haircare products that address hydration, scalp health, shrinkage, detangling, definition, and delicate strands. Thus, the Earth Supplied brand was born. Earth Supplied delivers real ingredients for beautiful, healthy hair and transparently communicates that on their front label.

Adding a sense of luxury to their packaging As part of their new product line, AB Brands LLC incorporated a packet to go along with the rest of their Earth Supplied bottles. Earth Supplied asked for the packet to match their white bottles but incorporate silver to add a touch of luxury to the packaging. The first thing MCC and Earth Supplied started with was a white cosmetic web material for the packet that would incorporate silver ink on the text. After reviewing ink draw downs, it was determined that the silver ink on the text alone would not achieve the design intent the customer was going for.

MCC then switched gears and utilized a technology on their hybrid printing presses that would apply a very opaque white to a silver cosmetic web material. This allowed MCC to “knock out” the areas where needed for artwork and allow the silver of the material to be used for the background. Additionally, the way the ink gets applied on the digital press creates a faux rotary screen look and feel for the packet, resulting in the premium, iridescent look the brand was hoping to achieve.

Upcoming French Brand Margot & Tita Chooses Digital Printing to Conquer the World of Fragrances

Margot & Tita is a French fragrance brand which stands for nature and simplicity versus luxury and sophistication. They believe perfume is like clothing, it goes along with your style and mood. Each fragrance expresses something different, and these expressions correspond to different occasions, desires, styles, and activities. The collection was created in a way that allows each and every client to create her/his own fragrance by mixing multiple perfumes. When seeing the fragrance labels, you immediately experience what the fragrance stands for.

Labels needed for Margot & Tita’s new launch Margot & Tita’s fragrances are available online and in department, duty free, drug and perfume stores. As a fast-growing business, Margot & Tita’s team contacted MCC to create 70,000 labels spread over 7 SKU’s, within 7 days for their launch in one of the largest beauty & drug stores in Poland.

Pop Up Label Naturgo Distinguishes their Brand from Competitors!

PT Eka Jaya was looking for an idea to promote one of their products, ‘Natur Go Face Mask’.

They wanted to utilize labels to explain product usage to the consumer, and at the same time look attractive on shelf. PT Eka Jaya was interested in the extended content label and 2-ply label innovations MCC shared during the initial introduction call. MCC worked out the construction of the labels and shared the benefits of this concept.

PT Eka Jaya is a manufacturer that produces beauty and cosmetic products in Indonesia. It continues to strive to create quality products for the market through innovation.

The challenge PT Eka Jaya wanted a unique innovative idea to promote its product ‘Natur Go Face Mask’ and stand out on shelf.

Creating the solution MCC worked with PT Eka Jaya to come up with an interactive label using a 2-ply label concept to market the ‘Natur Go Face Mask’. The label was designed to allow consumers to remove the face mask, revealing bright, fresh skin underneath.

Results PT Eka Jaya decided to give the construction a try, and placed an order with MCC to kick-start the project. The concept was very successful in the market, leading to an increase in PT Eka Jaya’s sales. MCC received another order with triple the quantity of the first order due to the success. This interactive label concept boosted sales, educated the consumer on usage, and allowed PT Eka Jaya to be unique in the market.

Neuriva’s New Label Combines Both Form & Function New label design Reckitt Benckiser’s Neuriva brand recently launched a new label to promote their brain health gummy vitamin supplements. Flavors come in original strawberry, strawberry plus and grape. The new label graphics combine the product’s strong natural and scientific credentials while bringing to life the key consumer insight that “bright brain = bright life”. The new label imagery features a split illustration, conveying scientific efficacy and a healthy brain on one side, and colorful vignettes of everyday life on the other.

Schiff rewards Multi-Color’s vibrant inks and colorful vignettes aren’t the only unique parts of this label. It also implements a functional extended content (peel back) label that includes a custom variable code. Thanks to MCC’s digital printing capabilities, every code is unique. Once peeled

back, you will see your 10-digit code that can be entered into a rewards program called Schiff Rewards, as well as Premium access to the Neuriva Brain Gym app. Different codes are worth different point values. Once you stack up enough points, you can trade it in for a reward!

EAS tag Neuriva’s brain health vitamins are very sought-after.

Therefore, people sometimes try to steal the product from stores without paying. To minimize this problem, MCC applied an EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) tag that is buried into the label. This EAS tag cannot be removed and will trigger an alarm at the store’s door if the product is stolen. The EAS tag is a requirement from retailers to prevent thieves. Even though MCC learned of the requirement for the EAS tag after the product was originally designed, they were still able to meet the customer’s deadline and needs.

MCC applied an EAS tag that is buried into the label. It cannot be removed and will trigger an alarm at the store’s door if the product is stolen.

Joico’s 540° Wrap Label Combines Form and Function

Background Joico approached Multi-Color asking to execute a unique label for their Blonde Life Brightening Oil. Joico wanted to have a “see-though” window effect that would showcase the holographic foil through the bottle. They also wanted to implement a metallic effect on the back panel on the reverse side of the holographic foil.

540 degree wrap label Joico needed an extra panel for ingredient and multilanguage information but didn’t want to compromise their nice visual design. The Multi-Color team came up with a great solution to their challenge – a 540-degree wrap concept! The metallic gold back panel overlaps the white panel, essentially creating an extended content label for consumers to peel back and see additional information.

Results The final product was a very eye-catching, premium label. Joico was pleased to be able to have both a metallic gold back panel, and “see-through” effect to show the holographic foil, all while maintaining their regulatory requirements. This execution was a great marriage of functional and aesthetic design.

Urban Mint’s Resealable Package Provides Ultimate Convenience Meiyume Manufacturing’s customer, Urban Mint was looking for a suitable material for their wet wipes.

The wet wipes are used for refreshing purposes.

Urban Mint needed a resealable material that maintains the moisture of the product. MCC recommended a label material that is suitable to the requirements of the wet wipes product.

Meiyume specializes in providing solutions for fragrance, skincare, color cosmetics, and beauty instruments for global brands, retailers and direct marketers. They assist their customers to find packaging solutions. With the past experience with MCC on resealable wipe labels, Meiyume strongly recommend MCC to Urban Mint to develop the labels for their wet wipes’ product range.

The challenge Wipe products require functional resealable labels that are able to open and close numerous times, withstand the liquids (oil, water or chemical) of the product, and keep the product’s moisture from evaporating. Urban Mint also needed to launch the new product to the market in a short lead time.

Solutions With the past experience with Meiyume’s on wet wipes, MCC proposed to use the same materials for the Urban Mint’s wet wipes to minimize the time spent on finding materials and the approval process. Since it was already known that this material was a good fit, MCC was able to quickly turn this project around and meet Urban Mint’s new product launch timing.

Results Urban Mint is happy with MCC’s proposed materials.

The label performance was excellent and it was able to open and reseal more than 100 times. Urban Mint was also pleased to be able to meet their product launching date.

Sustainability: How You Can Contribute to a Green Future Both consumers and companies are seeking ways to lower their carbon footprint, reduce pollution and be responsible citizens of the world. In this section, we present innovations that help our customers increase their products’ recyclability.

Sustainable Label Solutions Development culture “Each label upgrade starts with a dialogue with the customer, to fully understand which goal they try to reach. We continue by listening to the reclaimers. Our main question is always: what is the optimum label solution for our customers, that is also going to provide the most sustainable solution?”, explains Bushman. “We continue to innovate, to develop sustainable solutions across all packaging categories. We have made it a priority and a focus for our development to work on the next generation materials for each category.”

2. Floatable film shrink-sleeve: A more fitting approach for recycling in Europe is the use of polyolefin films that float in the sink-float separation process. Very high interest has been shown in this market.

3. De-seaming technology: The seam of the shrink sleeve ‘unzips’ during the wholebottle wash process in the reclaiming environment. This is implemented for customers in North America where the wet recycling process is common.

“Multi-Color has been very committed to delivering sustainable solutions that allow for improved recycling compatibility,” Bushman asserts. “For several years we have been working with organizations including the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) to develop sustainability solutions for both shrink-sleeve and pressure sensitive labels. For shrink-sleeves there isn’t a single ‘silver bullet’, ‘one size fits all’ solution, so MCC offers three recycLABEL® Shrink technologies. Each individual customer’s requirements are evaluated and specifically addressed.” The options are:

Multi-Color has been commercial for several years in the beverage market with recycling compatible pressure sensitive labels for PET containers. Bushman explains: “It has been a very high priority for us. In addition, we have observed that brand owners in the home and personal care market are also interested in sustainability solutions. We support them by supplying label materials that are fully compatible with recycling.”

1. Crystallizable PET: This is the newest approach to address the recycling problem and uses a shrink sleeve film material that is compatible with the PET container Resin. In addition, the artwork ink is designed to remove completely in a caustic bath; the ink does not dissolve but, rather, remains as solid particles which can be filtered off.

As a result, clean PET film can then be incorporated by the reclaimer, thereby increasing their yield. The product meets the APR Critical Guidance requirements for reclaimers in a circular process and has been confirmed with an APR Recognition Letter. This MCC innovation offers a distinct advantage in the market and is being commercially introduced in the U.S.

MCC’s RecycLABEL® as a Sustainable Packaging Solution for Colgate® Oral Care Colgate® challenged us by requesting a recyclingcompatible label solution. The focus was on cutting down the hard-to-recycle waste stream of Colgate® Oral Care products, packaged in PET containers.

Partnering pays off In partnership with the recycling company TerraCycle, Colgate® is committed to making a difference by doing business with integrity and respect for all people and the world around us. For that reason, they created a free recycling program for oral care product packaging, which went commercial in August 2019.

Pressure sensitive recycLABEL® The standard pressure-sensitive label has been converted into a recycling compatible recycLABEL®.

This sustainable solution is APR recognized*. Materials conversion includes clear, white, and metallized substrates.

A new year, a new product, a (re)new(ed) label, whatever your occasion, we know that being part of the personal care & beauty segment you want to improve your previous labels with beautiful embellishments. So if you would like to see what ​​ your labels would look like before launching your product, MCC gives you the unique service to give you a prototype of your label with all the ‘bells and whistles’.

What is rapid prototyping?

Rapid prototyping is an imaging and converting technology that produces high-quality art proofs on a variety of substrates, incorporating decorative foils, embossing and debossing, as well as simulated textures. The proofs mimic actual print production, providing the customer a good indication of how the design elements of a concept will appear prior to actual production. Using rapid prototyping is the perfect way to bring your ideas to life before they go into production.

This solution is best for customers who want to see a physical rendition of their label design or multiple label designs prior to committing to an actual production run and the purchase of dies and tooling.

Technical capabilities Ink reproduction • Rapid prototyping ink is compatible with most all common paper, film, and wood substrates. The ink is absorbed by uncoated stocks, causing minor distortion in the printed image, and specifically fine type.

• All images are produced out of 4C process, limiting color matching to 80-90% accuracy.

Foil decoration • Foil may be applied pre or post-ink application in a secondary or tertiary process without the need of dies. All common foil materials are compatible and multiple foils may be incorporated with proofs.

• Foil laydown is best on coated and smooth substrates. Textured papers may show signs of foil “picking”. Foil laydown inconsistency is to be expected on these textured materials, particularly with fine foil detail call-outs.

• Foil appearance may be different versus production foil, due to the absence of overall varnish with the rapid prototyping process.

Emboss/deboss • Emboss and deboss elements can be applied without the need for tooling. The operator manages the emboss and deboss height(s) to keep in-line with actual production capabilities.

Die-cut • Die cutting occurs in the final step of the rapid prototyping production process and does not require tooling. There are few-to-no limits on the complexity of the die-cut.

The process MCC will work closely with your marketing and/or design team to develop the best prototype so you can make an informed design decision. We seek to understand all your custom label printing needs to provide you with a premium product in a short time.

The process is simple and will be guided by one of MCC’s technical experts.

• First, we need to know which elements you want to test. At this phase you can select the real raw materials (substrates, foils, etc.) that will be used also for the industrial production, our expert have the know how to manage the technology in order to closely match the results that will be achieved on your finished label. You may also select finishes

/embellishments: reliefs (emboss and deboss effects), varnish effects, screen and high build tactile effects, reverse printing, etc.

• Customer to provide artwork.

• With artwork and the above selections made, the MCC team will make a proof. Our advanced printing capabilities allow us to incorporate all these custom features into your label design so that you can visualize it as the final product. The variation between the rapid proof and the final label is impressive, you will not find much difference when comparing side-by-side.

Creating Brand Identity and Consistency for Key Fragrance Player Tocca, a leader in the fine fragrance and personal care category, sells products in retailers like Sephora and others. Their products range from hand-crafted fragrance selections, to mists, air diffusers, creams and lotions. They even provide some other personal care items such as hand creams and lotions. Tocca targets the millennial audience who desire a premium product at an affordable price.

The challenge Tocca needed to be able to provide color and brand consistency across all their product lines. This is something their previous label suppliers struggled to achieve. While Tocca strives to keep pricing affordable, it remains a top priority to embody a premium look and feel to stand out on shelf.

MCC solution Tocca communicated their need for label consistency to MCC. They explained that Tocca means ‘touch’ in Italian, therefore they wanted the same texturized paper substrate to be used for all their labels. This becomes challenging when you begin to think about all the different types of products Tocca has. Products are in glass and plastic and must be appropriate in many environments. Multi-Color Corporation took on the challenge by testing various substrates to find a high-end paper that would withstand Tocca’s needs and work for their entire portfolio of products.

Once Multi-Color found the perfect paper, they then shifted their attention to addressing Tocca’s color consistency problems. Multi-Color took a very direct up-front approach to evaluate each artwork and determine design intent. Multi-Color’s IEM/Graphics Team used advanced color measuring tools to ensure the color variance never exceeds + or – 2 delta E. This is something Tocca was exceptionally pleased with, given that they are now expanding globally and want to have clear brand identity.

The results The entire Tocca label portfolio includes high-end embellishments. Multi-Color will continue to protect Tocca’s brand and color consistency by using the proper measuring tools. Tocca is very happy with the appearance and performance of their labels. The sales numbers for their new fragrances are already projected to exceed original expectations.

Maui Moisture’s New Labels Hit Design Intent AND Save Money

The challenge It was announced that 180 Maui Moisture US and Canada SKUs were going to undergo a regulatory update in the Spring of 2020. Sales thought it would be a good time to re-evaluate this brand and propose Expanded Color Gamut since this brand relies so much on colorful graphics. A few test runs were trialed in the Algoma, WI plant to see if this brand would be a good fit. After presenting samples to the Creative team and showing that the images were even more eye popping it was decided to make the update Cost savings Multi-Color analyzed Maui Moisture’s needs and presented the Expanded Color Gamut (ECG) technology back to them. The transition to ECG labels would save Maui Moisture $32,000 on art and template charges. This is possible because ECG printing efficiencies allow them to use 2 less colors on average for every SKU, compared to 8-9 colors. From a pure cost perspective, it was an obvious switch.

Vibrant colors Maui Moisture’s Creative Department took one look at the labels and immediately knew it was a “no-brainer” to make the switch to ECG. They were amazed at the striking difference when comparing the old and new labels side by side.

MCC customers fighting COVID-19 With MCC’s help, more and more of our customers are doing their part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Fast supply chain for Avon Care Moisturizing Hand Gel labels During this global pandemic, Avon, a multi-level beauty and household company headquartered in London, pivoted from their normal production and began producing antibacterial gels to join the fight against COVID-19. They asked MCC Warsaw to produce these much-needed labels. Production deadlines were very tight and could not be missed.

Thanks to the precise planning of MCC Warsaw, they could quickly start production on the labels. As a result, 3.5 tons of finished antibacterial products were handed over to the city of Garwolin and local public institutions.

The same amount of funds went to the Wolski Hospital in Warsaw. Way to go, MCC Warsaw for stepping up and helping your local community!

Soapbox’s Business Skyrockets Overnight!

Expansion due to COVID-19 Soapbox has been in the industry for over 10 years selling products like hand soaps and body washes.

Once the pandemic of COVID-19 hit the world, Soapbox wanted to join in the effort to help keep people clean and healthy. One of the new product categories they went into due to COVID-19 was hand sanitizer. Many other companies have also gone into the hand sanitizer business once the pandemic hit, but it was Soapbox’s previous relationships with suppliers and vendors that allowed them to skyrocket their business overnight. They went from 1 factory in the United States to now 7. Soapbox was in 3 verticals prior to COVID-19, and now they are in 7 different verticals toady.

Rapid change in demand: MCC makes it happen With the need for hand sanitizer/ soap raising so quickly, paired with the overnight success of the company, Soapbox needed a label supplier that could keep up with their high demand. MCC’s Dallas facility worked tirelessly to keep up with the needs of our customer. They worked with purchasing to

add new raw material suppliers and took control to take whatever steps necessary to hit deadlines. The mindset of the MCC team allowed Soapbox to keep up with production and stay successful.

Continued success and efforts to fight COVID-19 MCC is proud of our effort to support this great company. It is MCC’s mission to service the customer and help them stay on the path to success.
