NATIONAL UPDATES – SALARIED L&D

As we look back at National L&D in 2022, a major highlight was our successful partnership with the regions to launch the redesign of Management 101. The results have been very impressive, and the regions have done an outstanding job developing Managers with this program. In addition to Management 101, new solutions are rolling out to support our ever expanding need to increase MEP capabilities with three different solutions, MEP Estimator Training, MEP Coordinator Training, & Advanced MEP Pilot – Commissioning.

A huge lift for L&D was the “Mitigating Legal Risk” series of online courses. Working with Legal, this series of nine online courses addresses the highest frequency of legal risk, as identified by a Legal Task Force Team.

Another impactful initiative began in January 2022 with the National L&D team partnering with Kelly Keegan, Matt McMullan, and Southwest Sr. L&D Manager, Jamie Clapp to create a RE Talent Development Training Program. The multi-part and multilevel program was launched in July 2022 and multiple sessions have been conducted with the most recent session in January 2023. This program positively impacted the RE Team and we are currently in the process of collecting additional metrics to measure outcomes.

Looking ahead, we’re very excited to launch our Emerging Leadership Program. This program has been designed over the last year and each cohort of 25 will meet over the course of seven months. This program fills a gap between FOL (Foundations of Leadership) and ALP (Advanced Leadership Program) for leaders that are not quite at the Director level yet. Invitations went out on February 9, 2023, to participants and will launch with a program kick-off call on March 1.

The PE & PM Skills Development Program will rollout by the end of Q1. These solutions provide training and development in the core areas shown on the PE and PM job descriptions. Managers will work with the learners to identify a few areas to become proficient and will leverage the learning available here.

LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT METRICS

A few members of the L&D Team attended the Training 2023 Conference & Expo and Training APEX Awards gala in Orlando. McCarthy has attended the conference and Awards Gala for many years as McCarthy is a member of the Training Top 10 Hall of Fame. As a Hall of Fame company, we score the award applications and Robin Renschen announced several winners at the gala. During the concurrent conference, the team learned about new and innovative trends and technologies and even had dinner with the keynote speaker Temple Grandin.
