ESTIMATING ASSISTANT ROLE OVERVIEW
The Estimating Assistant role primarily supports the Estimating department in tasks related to transmission project work, with additional responsibilities in substation estimating.
This position also serves as a support to the Bid Coordinator, contributing to the effective management of both transmission and substation project bids.
BASE SALARY
$75,000/yr - $100,000/yr
RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in preparing, printing, and distributing bid documents, with a focus on transmission and substation projects.
Support the Bid Coordinator by maintaining and updating bid logs, ensuring all transmission and substation projects are tracked efficiently and submitted on time.
Help prepare proposal documents, gaining exposure to both transmission and substation estimating processes.
Compile bid packages for subcontractors and vendors, specifically for transmission and substation work, ensuring completeness of documentation.
Participate in pre-bid activities, site visits, and field observations, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Solicit vendor pricing, perform document take-offs, and input data to ensure accurate project cost assessments.
Create deliverables and manage drawings and other documents, ensuring they are organized and accessible throughout the project lifecycle.
Attend pre-bid meetings for transmission and substation projects, contributing to the early stages of project planning and understanding the technical requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned, particularly those supporting transmission and substation estimating activities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electrical Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 2 years of construction experience in a project-driven environment focused on utilities, transmission, or substation work.
Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel) and Primavera P6, any estimating software is required. Familiarity with Viewpoint software is a plus.
Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for working with diverse teams in transmission and substation projects.
A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a larger team.
