PROJECT ENGINEER ROLE OVERVIEW

The Project Engineer position offers an exciting opportunity to develop project schedules and processes for cutting-edge overhead transmission projects.
The Project Engineer will collaborate with functional leads and project managers, engaging in both office and fieldwork to identify critical and near-critical paths.
This role provides ample learning opportunities, allowing you to gain hands-on experience and identify trends that help keep the project team on track.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee and manage project expenditures, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation of tickets, invoices, and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Provide comprehensive cost control and planning assistance across all projects, including the preparation of variation reports, monitoring of contract progress, and customer billing.
Assist in preconstruction activities such as mark-out requests, project kick-offs, utility work packages, and securing necessary permits. Capture and maintain essential project data, including timesheets, crew locations, billing information, as-built records, and materials tracking.
Manage and coordinate project schedules, ensuring activities are executed timely while closely monitoring progress.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Generate and utilize detailed reports from project management systems (e.g., Viewpoint) to support effective project implementation.
Work closely with the project management team to resolve issues and ensure project completion within set timeframes and budgets.
Prepare and deliver monthly project cost reports, ensuring that expenditures are aligned with the project budget.
Participate in both field and office work, providing hands-on support and oversight for underground transmission projects.
Lead dynamic project kick-off sessions and assist in the development of utility work packages.
Attend and actively contribute to customer meetings, gaining exposure to client communication, project negotiations, and managing expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management (all fields).
1-5 years of experience in the construction or utility industry.
Strong knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office for project documentation, reporting, and presentations.
A proactive individual who takes initiative, works well independently, and contributes effectively in team settings.
Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, cost tracking, and project cost control.
Proficient in advanced Excel functions, including data manipulation, analysis, and spreadsheet design to effectively communicate results.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess project data, identify issues, and propose solutions.
