About The Position
Plumbing Estimator
Commercial Construction
The Plumbing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate material and labor cost estimates for commercial plumbing projects. This role involves analyzing construction drawings, performing takeoffs, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors for pricing, and ensuring competitive and complete bid proposals.
The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience in commercial plumbing estimation or a related degree, strong knowledge of plumbing systems, and excellent computer and communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Produce hand or digital material, equipment and fixture takeoff utilizing Quote Express software. Commercial plumbing estimator capable of generating material and labor take-offs and creating accurate cost estimates for bidding projects in various construction markets. Markets include education, institutional, retail, hotel, corrections, government use, process piping, waste and water treatment, and commercial buildings.
Identify, communicate and coordinate the scope of work to request pricing from subcontractors and vendors.
Evaluate bids received for completeness and compliance.
Price materials and estimate labor extending detail cost estimates in Microsoft Excel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Have a minimum of 5 years’ as a Commercial Plumbing Estimator and/or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
Requires ability to comprehend engineer’s specifications and be able to read and interpret construction drawings including Architectural, Mechanical and Plumbing layout. Requires a complete understanding of the variety of methodologies for pipe joining, included but not limited to screwed, flanged, MJ, grooved, welded, braised and soldered joints, compression fittings, various types of fusion systems. Absolutely must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to effectively communicate with team members, vendors and customers.
Perform estimating duties from time of project introduction to beginning of construction including the following:
Create and maintain organized estimate files
Develop a full understanding of the project scope per bid documents.
Solicit pricing from subcontractors, vendors and suppliers to ensure a complete and accurate bid.
Attend site visits when and if possible.
