INDICAZIONI GENERALI / GENERAL NOTES Utilizzare un rullante di almeno 14” di diametro, con una cordiera di 42 fili. Il rullante deve avere un tendicordiera la cui leva venga azionata perpendicolarmente rispetto al fusto. / Use a snare drum of 14” diameter or larger, with 42strand snare wires. The drum must have a snare strainer whose lever is activated perpendicularly in relation to the shell.

In posizione seduta, l'interprete deve tenere il rullante con il fusto appoggiato sulla gamba destra (ovvero verticale), con il tendicordiera rivolto verso l'alto.

La membrana battente deve essere rivolta verso la mano destra dell'interprete, mentre la membrana risonante resta verso la mano sinistra. / In a sitting position, the player must keep the drum with the shell on top of his right leg (i.e. vertically), with the snare strainer facing upwards.

The batter head must face the right hand of the player, whereas the resonant head must face his left hand.

A seconda dell'acustica della sala potrebbe essere necessaria una leggera amplificazione. / Depending on the acoustics of the concert hall, a slight amplification might be necessary.

- Mano sinistra: Piccola lastra di metallo sottile (Ø = 1mm o inferiore), forma rettangolare.

Esempi di oggetti pronti all'uso che potrebbero venire impiegati: spatola per stucco, supporto per zampirone, tra gli altri. / - Left hand: Small metal blade, thin (Ø = 1mm or less), rectangle shaped.

Examples of ready-made objects that could be used include: putty scraper, mosquito coil holder, among others.

- Mano destra: Due bacchette con teste di diametro diverso, una grande e l'altra più piccola. Si impiegherà un'impugnatura a X, tenendo la superball piccola in modo che punti verso il pollice e si appoggi su di esso. La superball piccola viene impugnata a circa 2/3 del suo fusto, mentre la superball grande a 1/2 del fusto.

La superball piccola produrrà un suono acuto, mentre la superball grande un suono più grave. / - Right hand: Two mallets with heads of different diameter, one larger and the other smaller. An X-shaped grip shall be used, holding the small superball so that it points towards the thumb, resting on it. The small superball is held at approximately 2/3 of its handle, whereas the large superball at 1/2 handle.

The small superball shall produce a high pitch, whereas the large superball a lower one.

Singoli clic premendo il bordo della lastra contro i ricci di un singolo filo della cordiera (qualsiasi filo a scelta). / Single clics pressing against the curls of a single snare wire (any given wire).

Strofinare la membrana con le bacchette superball.

N.B.: linea grossa = superball grande ; linea sottile = superball piccola / Rub the drumhead with the superball mallets.

N.B.: thick line = large superball ; thin line = small superball

Strisciare il bordo della lastra (lato più lungo) lungo la cordiera.

N.B.: la distanza tra i punti sulla linea indica il grado di “granularità” risultante, ovvero la quantità approssimativa di clics prodotti con un unico movimento della mano. / Slide the edge of the blade (the longest side) along the snare wires.

N.B.: the distance between the dots on the line indicates the degree of “granularity”, i.e. the approximate number of clics produced by a single movement of the hand.

Strisciare l'intera superficie della lastra contro la cordiera. / Slide the whole surface of the blade against the snare wires.

Ad libitum: all'interno della durata complessiva prescritta, strofinare la membrana con le superball scegliendo liberamente la durata dei singoli movimenti e l'eventuale alternanza tra le due bacchette diverse.

Iniziare ogni contatto delle superball battendo fortemente sulla membrana e poi strisciando le bacchette. / Ad libitum: inside the overall duration prescribed, rub the drumhead with the superballs freely choosing the duration of each single movement and the possible alternance between the two mallets.

Start each contact of the superballs beating the drumhead strongly and then sliding the mallets.

Pressione della mano sinistra sulla membrana risonante, in modo da allontanare leggermente la membrana dalla cordiera.

In questo modo i fili potranno vibrare dopo che un clic verrà fatto con la lastra, allungandone la risonanza.

N.B.: se necessario, allentare leggermente la membrana. / Left hand pressure on the resonant head, so as to slightly separate the drumhead from the snares.

In this way the wires will be able to vibrate after a clic shall be made with the blade, extending its resonance.

N.B.: if necessary, slightly loosen off the drumhead.

Inclinazione del rullante; con la cordiera sciolta, l'angolo di inclinazione modifica il contatto della cordiera con la membrana risuonante.

• Ⓛ = Inclinazione verso la mano sinistra, angolo di -45° ca.

• Ⓒ = Posizione centrale (rullante verticale) • Ⓡ = Inclinazione verso la mano destra, angolo di +45° ca. / Inclination of the drum; with the snares loosened, the degree of inclination shall modify the contact between snares and resonant head.

• Ⓛ = Tilt the drum towards the left hand at a -45° angle approx.

• Ⓒ = Central position (drum standing vertically) • Ⓡ = Tilt the drum towards the right hand at a +45° angle approx.

Ⓛ = ∡ -45°

Sciogliere la cordiera e lasciarla vibrare, oppure tenderla per riattaccarla alla membrana.

Il tendicordiera viene azionato sempre in maniera veloce e violenta (N.B.: sempre fortissimo), risultando in un forte suono percussivo prodotto sia dalla mano che colpisce la levetta, sia dalla cordiera che colpisce la membrana. / Loosen the snares and let them vibrate, or strain them in order to re-attach them to the resonant head.

The strainer shall always be actionated quickly and violently (N.B.: always fortissimo), resulting in a strong percussive sound produced both by the hand hitting the lever and by the snares hitting the drumhead.
