Enterprise Resource Planning and Artificial Intelligence
By Ed Avizur President
A. B. Computer Systems, Inc. e.avizur@abcsi.com www.abcsi.com 200 Broadhollow Road, Suite 207 Melville, NY 11747 631-393-5007, Ext. 5022
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are two powerful technologies that can significantly impact businesses when used together. When integrated, they can help businesses reduce costs and duplication, and increase productivity, accuracy, sales, and profits.
Features and Benefits of ERP & AI integration may include:
1. Predictive Analytics: AI can be used to build predictive models that forecast future trends and outcomes based on historical ERP data. For instance, AI can predict future sales trends, demand for specific products, late customer payments, or maintenance needs for machinery. This enables proactive decision-making and helps businesses stay ahead of the competition.
2. Data Integration and Analysis: ERP systems are designed to manage and integrate various aspects of a business, such as finance, inventory, sales, purchasing, service, and manufacturing. AI can enhance this by providing advanced analytics capabilities. AI algorithms can process large volumes of data from ERP systems to identify patterns, trends, and insights that might not be immediately apparent. This can help businesses make data-driven decisions and optimize their operations.
3. Automation: AI can automate repetitive tasks within ERP systems. For example, AI-powered chatbots can handle routine customer inquiries or employee requests, freeing up human resources for more strategic tasks. AI can also automate data entry and processing, reducing errors and improving efficiency
4. Supply Chain Optimization: AI can optimize supply chain management by analyzing ERP data related to inventory levels, production schedules, and supplier performance. This can help businesses reduce costs, minimize stockouts, and streamline their supply chain operations.
5. Personalization: AI can enhance customer experiences by providing personalized recommendations and services. By analyzing data from ERP systems and customer interactions, AI can suggest tailored product recommendations or offer customized pricing and promotions, improving customer satisfaction and retention.
6. Risk Management: AI can assist in identifying and mitigating risks by analyzing financial and operational data from ERP systems. It can detect anomalies and patterns indicative of fraud, compliance violations, or operational inefficiencies, helping businesses take timely corrective actions.
7. Natural Language Processing (NLP): AI-powered NLP can extract valuable insights from unstructured data sources, such as customer reviews, social media comments, and emails. Integrating NLP with ERP systems can provide a more comprehensive understanding of customer sentiment and feedback, enabling businesses to make informed decisions and improve products and services.
8. Maintenance and Asset Management: AI can predict equipment failures and maintenance needs by analyzing
data from sensors and ERP systems. This predictive maintenance can help businesses reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of their assets.
9. Financial Forecasting: AI can improve financial forecasting accuracy by analyzing historical financial data from ERP systems and incorporating external factors such as market trends and economic indicators.
10.Continuous Improvement: AI can support continuous improvement efforts by monitoring and analyzing processes within ERP systems. It can identify areas where efficiency can be improved, costs can be reduced, or quality can be enhanced.
In summary, integrating AI with ERP systems can unlock the full potential of both technologies. AI adds advanced analytics, automation, and predictive capabilities to ERP, helping businesses make more informed decisions, streamline operations, and stay competitive in today’s data-driven business landscape.

3 Simple Ways to Boost Your Long Island Marketing Strategy

In today’s competitive market, having a strong marketing strategy is key to your business’s success. Whether you’re just starting or looking to grow, here are three straightforward strategies to make your marketing efforts more effective.
1.Know Who You’re Selling To
The first step to a successful marketing strategy is really understanding who your customers are. This is more knowing just their age or where they live. You should figure out what they like, what they do in their free time, and what other brands they’re into. This will help you craft messages and offers that speak directly to them.
You can learn more about your customers

through surveys or by looking at comments and interactions on social media. The better you know your audience, the better you can connect with them through your marketing.
2.Stand Out from the Competition
It’s important to know what makes your business different and better than your competition. This is often called your Unique Selling Proposition (USP). Your USP could be anything from offering the best prices, providing outstanding customer service, or even how your products are uniquely designed.
Make sure this special thing about your business is clear in everything you say and do with your marketing. When customers know what makes you different, they’re more likely to choose you over someone else!
3.Use
Data to Make Decisions
The third way is to make decisions based on hard data, not just guesses. Nowadays, with all the tools available, you can track what happens when you send out emails, post on
Interviewing 101-Do AI Interviews Work for Companies and Candidates?
By Scott Passeser Executive
Alliance
Commack, New York 11725 scott@execsallied.com Office: 631 635 1206
We knew it would happen. Interviews are moving to AI platforms and growing in popularity. So, let’s be ready! AI interviews typically involve pre-recorded video responses to questions. Candidates are given a specific time to answer each question, and their responses are analyzed by AI algorithms. This format offers several advantages for employers, including efficiency, consistency, and the ability to assess a large pool of applicants quickly. But does it work for candidates?
The simple fact is that definitive, statistically proven evidence comparing the overall effectiveness of AI interviews to traditional interviews is limited. While there’s a growing body of research suggesting the benefits of AI interviews, it’s crucial to consider the nuances and complexities of the hiring process and impact of AI interview on candidates.
Potential Advantages of AI Interviews
•Efficiency: AI can process many candidates quickly, reducing time-to-hire.
•Consistency: AI-based assessments can eliminate human biases and ensure consistent evaluation criteria.
•Data-driven insights: AI can provide valuable data on
candidate strengths and weaknesses.
Challenges and Considerations
•Bias: Despite efforts to mitigate bias, AI systems can still perpetuate existing societal biases if trained on biased data.
•Lack of human connection: AI interviews may not effectively assess soft skills, cultural fit, or interpersonal abilities.
•Technical limitations: AI technology is still evolving, and its ability to accurately measure certain qualities may be limited.
AI Interviews on the Rise
Companies like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have been early adopters of AI-powered interviews. But it’s not just technology companies.
•Financial Institutions: Banks and financial services firms, such as JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs, are leveraging AI to assess candidates for roles requiring strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Retailers: Large retailers like Walmart and Target are using AI interviews to efficiently screen applicants for a high volume of entry-level and customer-facing positions.
•Healthcare: Healthcare providers are exploring AI interviews to assess candidates for roles requiring empathy, communication skills, and clinical knowledge.
The Candidate Experience
AI interviews can be daunting for job seekers. Many feel AI interviews lack the personal touch of a traditional interview, making it difficult to build rapport and showcase their personality. The pressure to provide concise and
social media, or run ads. This information is super valuable.
Pay attention to what kinds of emails get opened the most or what kinds of social media posts get the most likes. Use what you learn to do more of what works and less of what doesn’t. This approach helps you spend your money more wisely and get better results from your marketing efforts.
Conclusion
Improving your marketing doesn’t have to be so complicated. By knowing your audience well, making clear what’s special about your business, and using data to guide your decisions, you can make your marketing more effective. These steps will help you attract more customers, keep them coming back, and ultimately grow your business long term. Whether you’re a local shop or a growing enterprise, these tips are practical and effective for any business.
perfect answers within a limited timeframe can also be stressful.
Here are some common sentiments:
•Impersonal: Many candidates express feeling disconnected from the interview process due to the lack of human interaction.
•Technical difficulties: Some candidates have encountered technical issues, such as poor video quality or difficulty uploading responses.
•Pressure to perform: The timed format can create anxiety and pressure to provide perfect answers.
•Concerns about fairness: There are worries about potential biases in AI algorithms and the lack of opportunity to build rapport with a human interviewer.
Despite these challenges, some job seekers appreciate the convenience and efficiency of AI interviews. They find it easier to schedule interviews at their convenience and appreciate the opportunity to practice their responses multiple times.
Balancing Technology and Human Interaction
To address candidate concerns, companies can provide clear guidelines on AI interview expectations, offer practice opportunities, and incorporate human elements into the hiring process. By combining the strengths of AI and human interaction, organizations can create a more effective and equitable hiring experience.
But the jury has not returned a verdict…yet. We will stay on top of it!
Screening Of Emmy-Nominated Film Produced On Long Island Set For Sept. 8 NEWS
A 2024 Emmy-nominated documentary produced on Long Island will be screened at Manhasset Movie Theater on Sept. 8 at 3 p.m.
The film, “The Garbage Man, A Life Worth Living” is a documentary about Robbie Donno, “a Long Island garbageman turned humanitarian icon” who devoted his life to helping children around the world get the life-saving pediatric heart surgery they needed.
The documentary is a film by LGC Studios, a division of Edgewood-based Lorraine Gregory Communications. The film is an Emmy-nominee in the Human Interest – Long Form Content category.
“The Emmy nomination is a significant milestone for the company and testament to the talent and dedication
of our LGC Studios team,” Greg Demetriou, CEO of Lorraine Gregory Communications, said in a news release about the film. “Robbie’s story is one of hope and resilience.”
Donno was determined to make a positive impact, and with the support of the Manhasset Rotary, in 1975, enabled a child from Uganda to receive lifesaving heart surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn. This event ultimately led to his founding of “Gift of Life International,” a nonprofit organization headquartered in Fresh Meadows, N.Y., and which the filmmakers said celebrated helping its 50,000th child this year.
Spearheaded by Rich Poggioli, director of Video Services at LGC Studios and a fellow Rotarian, the film “aims to capture the magnitude of the Rotary’s work” according to the filmmakers.
“This film was a labor of love and a tribute to the incredible legacy of Robbie Donno. It is a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have on the world,” Poggioli said in the news release.
Donno expressed gratitude about the film and its Emmy recognition.
“Watching our mission come alive in this film is incredibly heartwarming,” Donno said in the news release.
“It’s not only about the surgeries,” he added. “It’s about transforming lives— both theirs and ours. It’s about healing families and restoring hope for those still waiting for our assistance. I am deeply grateful to LGC Studios for bringing our story to the screen.”

From Garden Party to Workplace Harmony: Embracing DEI for Long Island’s Evolving Industries
By Dr. Subrina D. Oliver CEO, O-High Technologies LL

As I addressed the Nassau University Medical Center audience during my Juneteenth keynote, I drew a parallel between our mission to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competency and a garden party. This analogy, in my view, encapsulates the intricate and rewarding journey we must undertake to cultivate truly inclusive and thriving workplaces across Long Island. In a region as dynamic as the HIA park, embracing these principles isn’t just an option; it’s essential for nurturing a workforce that’s vibrant, resilient, and innovative. Let’s explore this garden party analogy further to see how it applies to our workplaces and how it can guide Long Island’s industries towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
Diversity: Cultivating a Rich Variety of Talent
Imagine walking into a garden party where every flower— roses, tulips, daisies, and sunflowers—brings its own unique beauty to the scene. In the workplace, diversity is about more than just representation; it’s about bringing together people from various backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. Each individual, like each flower, adds a unique value to the collective, enhancing creativity, innovation, and problemsolving. For Long Island’s industries, embracing diversity means actively seeking out and welcoming talent from all walks of life. It’s about recognizing that a mix of perspectives leads to richer ideas and stronger solutions.
Equity: Providing What Each Employee Needs to Thrive At this garden party, not all flowers need the same care.
keepingcurrent
Some require more sunlight, others need more water, and a few might even need special soil to truly flourish. Similarly, equity in the workplace is about recognizing that different employees have different needs. It’s not about giving everyone the same resources, but rather, ensuring that everyone has the specific support they need to succeed. For Long Island businesses, this might mean offering tailored professional development opportunities, flexible work arrangements, or additional support for historically underserved employees. Equity is about leveling the playing field so that all employees can reach their full potential.
Inclusion: Ensuring Every Voice is Heard and Valued
Inclusion at our garden party is making sure that every flower is arranged in a way that it can be seen and appreciated. In the workplace, inclusion means creating an environment where every employee feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute. It’s about making sure that everyone has a seat at the table and that their voices are heard. For Long Island’s industries, fostering inclusion could involve establishing employee resource groups, offering mentorship programs, or simply creating open channels of communication where employees feel safe to share their ideas and concerns. Inclusion isn’t just about being invited to the party; it’s about feeling welcomed and integral to the celebration.
Cultural Competency: The Master Gardener of the Workplace
At our garden party, there’s a master gardener who understands the unique needs of each flower. This gardener practices cultural competency, knowing exactly what each flower needs to thrive. In the workplace, cultural competency is about understanding and respecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of your employees. It’s about recognizing that while we all share the same garden, each individual has their own story and needs. For Long Island employers, this
could mean offering cultural competency training, encouraging open dialogue about diversity, or simply taking the time to understand the unique perspectives each employee brings to the table. Cultural competency ensures that the garden—your workforce—continues to thrive, regardless of the diversity within it.
Building a Thriving Workforce Garden on Long Island
As we look to the future of Long Island’s workforce, it’s clear that diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competency are not just buzzwords; they are the foundational elements of a thriving, sustainable workplace. By embracing these principles, we can cultivate a workforce that is not only more innovative and resilient but also one where every employee feels valued and empowered to contribute their best.
For Long Island’s industries, the path forward is clear: it’s time to start cultivating your workforce garden. Invest in diversity by actively recruiting from a variety of backgrounds. Ensure equity by providing the specific resources each employee needs to succeed. Foster inclusion by creating an environment where everyone’s voice is heard and valued. And practice cultural competency by understanding and respecting the diverse backgrounds of your employees.
Conclusion:
Let’s
Grow Together
Let’s remember our Long Island garden party as we cultivate our workplaces. By fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competence, we create a thriving environment where every worker—and every organization—can flourish, driving economic prosperity for all.

Protect Your Business with a Sales Tax Due Diligence Review

What is sales tax?
Sales tax is a transaction tax levied by State and local governments on goods and services purchased by consumers. This is different from income taxes which are paid by individuals and businesses on their earnings. Sales taxes are collected by businesses on behalf of the government at the point of sale. The rates and regulations governing sales tax vary from State to State. This adds complexity for businesses that operate in multiple States.
A company must be aware if it has sales tax nexus with a State. Nexus means having sufficient connection with a State to require a taxpayer to follow the sales tax rules in that State which include registering, collecting and remitting sales tax.
What is physical nexus and economic nexus?
There is physical nexus and economic nexus. Having a physical presence such as office space, employees, or inventory can create physical nexus
in a State. Economic nexus can be established by businesses that have a certain sales amount or number of transactions into a State even though they have no physical nexus to that State. Once nexus is created these businesses now have a registration, collection and remittance obligation.
The importance of a sales tax due diligence review
A sales tax due diligence review is a key part in achieving compliance and mitigating risk. Understanding sales tax laws can be overwhelming for businesses, especially those that have sales in multiple States. As companies expand, a sales tax due diligence review becomes crucial.
What is the process of a sales tax due diligence review?
A sales tax due diligence review involves a thorough examination of a company’s sales tax compliance processes. Additional aspects include analyzing practices and historical filings. This review serves several crucial purposes:
1. Reviewing Compliance Requirements: Businesses may inadvertently overlook sales tax obligations due to evolving laws and changes in business operations. This may uncover potential liabilities that may arise from incorrect tax filings or unfiled returns.
2. Remittance Strategy: Provide the company with the opportunity to develop a plan to mitigate identified risks. This allows companies to proactively address issues such as filing for a Voluntary Disclosure in the jurisdictions where there is a potential liability
3. Registration Plan: Once the jurisdictions and remittance strategy have been addressed, the company will have to register to do business in each State and/or local jurisdiction. In some cases, this may also include registering with the Secretary of State.
4. Taxability Research: If the Company is unsure of the taxability of its products in any jurisdiction, as part of the due diligence review, a comprehensive review of the taxability of its products is recommended.
Performing a sales tax due diligence review is essential to help businesses reduce the risk of receiving a notice from a State that it was unaware it had nexus in. As sales tax laws continue to change, staying proactive and updated through regular due diligence reviews ensures that businesses remain compliant.

How IT Assessments Strengthen Your Cybersecurity and Business Resilience
By Andy Loong, CISSP, CDPSE, CSA, ITIL
In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, keeping robust and secure information technology (IT) systems is paramount for the success and sustainability of any organization. IT assessments have emerged as a vital part of an effective IT advisory strategy, providing your organization with a comprehensive understanding of its IT infrastructure, finding vulnerabilities, and helping you align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
IT assessments involve a thorough evaluation of your organization’s IT environment — encompassing systems, networks, applications, and data assets. These assessments aim to show weaknesses, verify compliance, and offer actionable insights to enhance your overall IT performance and security. The scope of IT assessments includes various elements such as risk assessment, IT security management, policy reviews, access controls, network security, data protection, and incident response preparedness.
Key Components of IT Assessments
IT assessments typically encompass the following key components, each critical for a comprehensive evaluation of your organization’s IT infrastructure:
1. Risk assessment: Conducting a risk assessment is foundational to understanding potential threats and vulnerabilities within your organization’s IT environment. This involves evaluating factors such as cybersecurity threats, data breaches, insider threats, and regulatory non-compliance. Identifying and prioritizing risks based on their potential impact allows your organization to implement proactive measures to mitigate these risks.
2. Review of policies and procedures: Policies and procedures form the backbone of your organization’s IT framework. Evaluating these policies confirms they are comprehensive,
up-to-date, and aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Effective policies facilitate enforcement and adherence, significantly reducing the risk of IT-related incidents.
3.Access controls: Implementing robust access controls is crucial for protecting sensitive data and systems. Assessing access controls involves evaluating user access rights, privileges, and authentication mechanisms. Effective access controls prevent unauthorized access and mitigate the risk of data breaches.
4. Network security: Your organization’s network architecture, configuration, and security controls must be assessed to identify vulnerabilities and potential points of compromise. This includes reviewing firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), virtual private networks (VPNs), and network segmentation practices.
5.Data protection: Data protection measures such as encryption, data loss prevention (DLP) controls, and data backup and recovery procedures are vital for safeguarding sensitive information. Confirming these measures helps protect your data against unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration.
6. Incident response preparedness: Effectively responding to IT incidents is critical to minimize damage and recovery time. Reviewing incident response plans and procedures — including incident detection, reporting mechanisms, and escalation processes — confirms your organization is prepared to handle IT incidents efficiently.
7. Vendor and third-party risk management: Many organizations rely on third-party vendors and service providers, introducing additional IT risks. Assessing your organization’s practices for managing these risks, including vendor contracts and due diligence processes, is essential for mitigating supply chain vulnerabilities.
Why IT Assessments Are Essential for Your Organization IT assessments are not just a regulatory requirement; they are a strategic necessity. IT assessments offer several key benefits for your organization, including:
•Find potential vulnerabilities and threats before they are exploited, allowing your organization to implement proactive measures to mitigate risks.
•Verify compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements to help you avoid legal penalties and keep customer trust.
•Strengthen your organization’s overall security posture to reduce the likelihood of successful cyberattacks.
•Offer the insights you need for effective risk management, enabling the allocation of resources to address the most critical threats.
• Safeguard your business continuity by confirming the integrity and availability of IT systems, protecting your organization against disruptions caused by IT incidents.
The Critical Importance of IT Assessments for Modern Enterprises
In an era where IT systems are the backbone of business operations, the importance of IT assessments cannot be overstated. These assessments provide your organization with a clear understanding of its IT vulnerabilities and offer you a roadmap for mitigating risks.
By investing in regular IT assessments, you will not only help protect your digital assets but also support business continuity and keep stakeholder trust. For enterprises striving to stay ahead in the digital age, IT assessments are an indispensable part of a robust IT advisory strategy.

Accounts Receivable Insurance: How It Works
What is Accounts Receivable Insurance?
By Michael Catherwood Allianz Trade Michael.catherwood@allianz-trade.com
516-388-9502
Accounts receivable insurance – sometimes called A/R insurance or trade credit insurance – provides companies with protection against customers that fail to pay what they owe by securing their accounts receivable.
Well known and widely used by European companies for decades, accounts receivable insurance is now becoming more commonplace among companies of varying sizes based in North America as well.
The reason for this growth is that, on average, accounts receivable typically make up 40% of a company’s assets. As a result, there is a greater chance that a business will experience a loss within its accounts receivable than any other asset, especially with past-due invoices and non-payment events being so common.
Accounts receivables are a critical component of your balance sheet — they directly affect your cash flow and profitability. Many companies in the U.S. are thorough when it comes to protecting against losses related to property damage, liability, and other unpredictable, high-exposure risks.
However, these same organizations often fail to view accounts receivable as one of the most valuable assets that can and should be secured – leaving themselves exposed to cash flow and revenue problems. There is a safer way to do business.
Once implemented, accounts receivable (A/R) insurance coverage can help credit risk teams and other stakeholders manage the commercial and political risks that are beyond the organization’s control.
Benefits of Accounts Receivable Insurance
From the definition of accounts receivable insurance presented above, you know that this tool helps companies protect themselves against non-payment risks and maintain their balance sheets. However, while your accounts receivable coverage policy is a shield, it can also help you grow sales.
Expand Sales with Receivables Insurance
An accounts receivable insurance policy allows companies to feel secure in extending more credit to current customers, or to pursue new, larger customers that would have otherwise seemed too risky. The protection it provides allows a company to increase sales to grow their business.
Insured companies can sell on open account terms where they may have previously been restrictive or only sold on a secured basis
“Accounts receivable insurance has allowed us to take on customers and transactions we wouldn’t have felt comfortable taking on by ourselves,” commented Mike Libasci, President of International Fleet Sales, in our case study, Reducing Concentration Risk Helped Drive Growth. “It has not only allowed my company to take on larger deals, but be more liberal in terms, and the result has gone straight to our bottom line.”
Gain a Competitive Edge by Offering Better Terms
With access to extensive knowledge about the creditworthiness of new and existing customers, companies with accounts receivable insurance can prevent losses. Companies can improve their internal procedures, make credit decisions quickly, and gain a major competitive advantage by extending more attractive offers to customers and prospects. Overall, this allows companies to sell more in foreign markets which means more revenue opportunities.
“This is a fast-paced business, and companies want an answer quickly. If you wait days or weeks, a deal can be gone,” said Ori
Ben-Amotz, Chief Financial Officer of Hadco in An Efficient Credit Management Process Accelerates Business Growth. “We were not able to make quality decisions, especially under pressure. We were over conservative and held back limits.
“With [accounts receivable] insurance, we don’t have to ask for cash up front or payment on delivery, which makes us much more competitive. This is the tool we needed to take more market share from our competitors.”
How Does Accounts Receivable Insurance Coverage Work
Once your partnership begins, the insurance provider analyzes the creditworthiness and financial stability of your insurable customers. In the case of Allianz Trade, buyer and country risk evaluations are aggregated into a proprietary risk grade. This risk grade is informed by data from more than 85 million companies monitored in our database, the local insights from our presence in 52 countries, and the nearly $1 trillion in trade transactions we cover globally.
With this information, our underwriters are able to forecast the probability of default and assign specific credit limits to your customers.
Throughout the life of the policy, the A/R insurance policyholder may request additional coverage on a specific buyer should that need arise.
The insurer will investigate the risk of increasing the coverage and will either approve the additional coverage, or provide a detailed explanation about why the existing limit must be maintained. Similarly, policyholders may request coverage on a new buyer with which they’d like to do business. Allianz Trade receives over 20,000 credit limit requests every day and processes 85% of them in less than 48 hours.

Harbor Sales Management offers the experience of a VP of Sales on a fractional basis for owners of small and medium-sized businesses.
We license the SalesQB system to provide outsourced best-of-class sales management. We work with Long Island business owners who are self-managing their sales effort...and perhaps shouldn’t be. Or owners whose company success has grown faster than the sales systems and practices needed to scale to even greater levels.
The conventional sales wisdom says that increasing sales is best accomplished by improving the quality of the sales team. For the Fortune 500, investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in training, recruiting, and paying top-tier talent is a viable strategy. For midsized and smaller businesses, “buying your way out of the problem” is not a viable option.
We have studied top-performing SMB sales teams of 10 or fewer members and discovered hundreds of best practices. Applying those practices to your team will empower them to perform like Fortune 500 teams for a fraction of the cost.
