Much-loved city venue under new management after building’s lease transferred
Liverpool’s much-loved Epstein Theatre is set to reopen after a deal was agreed to breathe new life into the historic city centre venue.
The Grade II listed theatre closed its doors in June 2023 following a decision by the city council, which owns the building’s freehold, to withdraw financial support which had helped to keep the 112-year-old venue running
But now the Hanover Street landmark is due to welcome audiences once again, with new leaseholders and a new management team promising a busy programme of entertainment which reflects the theatre’s century-long role as the home of local talent, national touring productions, music, comedy and pantomime.
Test events are set to take place over the spring and summer, with a full autumn programme of shows being launched including a special Gala Night on Friday, 19 September - Brian Epstein’s birthday – which will feature local acts and celebrities.

Ahead of that, £1 million is being invested in the venue with extensive refurbishment works including refitting the stage with new lighting, stage cloths and sound, and improving the backstage areas. The theatre’s bar is also being remodelled as part of the work
The Epstein started life in 1913 as the Crane Music Hall, situated above the Crane brothers’ music emporium in Hanover Street..A longtime favourite of local amateur drama groups along with visiting performers and comedians, the venue was closed in 2005 due to health and safety concerns. When it reopened its doors in 2011, following a £1.2 million upgrade, it gained its current name – the Epstein Theatre – in honour of the late Brian Epstein.
The theatre has been able to reopen its doors due to a transfer of the head lease from the former leaseholders to JSM Company Group Ltd, which holds a vast portfolio of properties in Liverpool and is now responsible for Hanover House, the building which contains the Epstein

I have been a Graphic Designer for over 20 years and always had a passion for Jewellery Design.
What began as a hobby has now become my little business, HMG Jewellery. My Etsy Shop showcases lots of gorgeous statement pieces, from laser cut stainless steel and leather designs to iridescent chunky bracelets in lots of juicy colours, all designed and made by me
My Recycled Jewellery Collection is the largest category and the heart of my shop.
Recycling Jewellery is my therapy. I make the old and preloved into stunning one off pieces.
I have accumulated lots of old costume jewellery over the years, because I don't like to throw it away!
Even friends give me their old pieces, knowing that one day I'll make something fab with it
We live in such a 'throw away ' world, so I find joy in taking sad jewellery and breathing new life into it again.
I am proud of how beautiful they turn out It makes me happy that people will wear and love once again.
How did you first get started in music?
I started singing at the age of 8, my teacher at school Mrs Kerrigan noticed my abilities and then I joined a singing group called ' Semitones' in Scarborough where my love and passion grew deeper. I've always wanted to be a singer.
What inspired you to pursue a career in singing?
All of my life I've had a huge imagination, dancing and singing around my house to performing in crowds, it's where I feel at home and I also enjoy making others happy so much passion and Ideas just kept growing. I believe I had a great singing teacher who guided me and also reminded me that it's important that we appreciate other talents too.
Can you tell us about your creative process when preparing a new song? It really varies with me , generally when I'm Songwriting it can be absolutely anywhere , middle of the night, on a dog walk or even in the toilets on a night out! If an idea pops in my head, I'll write it down or sing into my phone. When I'm writing and recording in a studio I enjoy collaborating most, I believe different ideas and perspectives can make the song shine brighter. It truly is a therapeutic and exciting experience when it all comes together.
Some of the darkest times of my life have become positive outcomes through songs I've written.
Who are your biggest musical influences or idols?
The list truly is longer than I ever could write here but I'll name a few, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion , Tina Turner,Brandy, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse are the first ones that sprung to mind their voices are beyond ' out of this world ' and I could listen to them all day but I'm also inspired by their whole musical journeys. Being a woman in music truly faces challenges and they inspire so
so many to keep faith.
I love listening to Soul, R&B, Country, pop but I just love talent and music in general,so anything goes in my household.
How do you handle performance anxiety or stage fright?
Anxiety and depression are something I've suffered from throughout my life and through my teens / most of my twenties. This was something I struggled to overcome , I almost stepped back completely but I didn't I kept pushing through, working on my inner strength & capabilities. I also found great ideas through research to help turn my anxiety into a positive experience. Every single time I perform I feel anxious to some extent , I've even suffered with panic attacks before pressure events but I've managed to keep fighting for my dream. I have helped others too with their confidence and this is something I would like to continue with throughout my journey.
What has been your most memorable performance to date?
This question is hard because I always believe it comes down to atmosphere and you can't make that happen it just does, some of my best performances have been at local gigs around the midlands, just because of the support and energy in the room.
I'm really proud and honoured I have performed at ' The Big Festival ' through BBC Coventry & Warwickshire on the 'BBC Introducing stage , this festival is put together by Jamie Oliver and Alex James, from Blue and ' Godiva Festival '
along with lots of other festivals across the UK.
How do you maintain your vocal health and keep your voice in top shape?
I would be lying if I said I'm always vocally healthy as life sometimes throws me off balance ,however I absolutely do my best by vocal steaming , warm ups and I have singing lessons with my teacher from when I'm younger, she always gives me the reality check I need because I do know how important it is . I practice every day and never take my talent for granted.
What has been the most rewarding part of being a singer so far?
The freedom it has given me in all aspects of my life, including my mental health.

Social media has created a weird illusion of accessibility—people feel emboldened to shoot their shot (or worse) in ways they never would face-to-face.
Ladies, picture this: You’re a cracking woman with a buzzing social media following, sharing your day, your wit, perhaps a stunning selfie or two. Then, ping; some random bloke DMs you: “I’m in town, if u want a meet.” Puzzled, you reply, “Why?” His reply? A smug “Why not?” As a Dating Coach, I see this tripe daily It’s a glaring window into the stark disrespect some men lob at women online, assuming your profile’s a neon sign screaming “shag me” in flashing lights.
The digital world’s a shambles. Without real cues, no tone or spark to guide him, this guy’s likely been creeping on your profile, nicking a flirty caption or grin to fuel his daft fantasy. He doesn’t know you; he’s guessing, wrapped in a toxic haze that bins your emotional reality. Feel cheap, uneasy, ready to chuck your phone out the window? He doesn’t care one jot: you’re just a quick thrill to his deluded, caveman brain. He’s playing a rotten numbers game: lobbing DMs like they’re going out of fashion, hoping one sticks while he sips his lager, chuffed with himself
A yes is a notch, a no’s a shrug. Your feelings? Irrelevant. This isn’t about you; it’s his arrogance and a deep lack of respect that shrugs off your humanity. Most women crave a gentleman: a bloke who’s respectful, attentive, keen to build something real over chasing a conquest. This “Why not?” wanker? He’s the opposite; he doesn’t give a toss who you are beyond a screen You deserve better: a man who sees you, not a target, and honours your feelings.
Single ladies, fed up with tossers and dead-end DMs? My Circus Question™ compatibility app’s now available at https://the-circus-question.passion.io to dodge toxicity and spark meaningful connections; dive in and try it! Pop your thoughts in the comments on this magazine post or my profile on Facebook or LinkedIn, Andreas MatchCreator: share your worst “Why not?” tale or what you’d love from the app; let’s keep the chat going!

A typical cruise will start off onboard with some drinks and an introduction to Liverpool’s docks by the skipper A brief guided tour will then proceed as you enjoy a gentle sail through the Liverpool South Dock whilst the food is served. Once the meal is over the party begins with music and dancing until it is time to dock It’s a fabulous experience and a lot of fun and everyone leaves with a smile on their faces

The astronaut Sunita Williams is splashed all over the media who are fixated on her appearance after being lost in space for nine months. She wasn’t chosen to go to space for her looks, her incredible military experience and 30 years experience with NASA has been completely overlooked to focus on her wrinkles and aging. Newsflash, they don’t have hairdressers and beauticians in space. She cut off her long hair and donated it to charity before a previous space mission. She is the only astronaut to complete a marathon in space. Meanwhile her colleague, Butch has cornered less than a paragraph of news reporting on his physical appearance. This boils my piss. Whether it’s the relentless scrutiny of celebrities on the red carpet or the judgment women face in their everyday lives, appearance-based criticism remains a constant. Today I opened instagram to see an advert for women over 40 to get the legs of a 20 year old. No thank you, I am not in competition with a child.
Society's obsession with women's appearances is deeply ingrained in history. For centuries, beauty has been seen as a woman's currency, a measure of her worth.
Patriarchal standards created impossible ideals that shifted with the times—from ridiculous corseted silhouettes to size-zero bodies. And we are all guilty of buying into these expectations, getting botox tweaks and downing collagen shots that promise the illusion of perfection. But perfection doesn’t exist Whatever we do, we are labeled as "too much" or "not enough" — too thin, too curvy, too old, too young, too plain, too glamorous. This ridiculous pressure to mee unrealistic standards can erode self-confidence. too feel anxiety and self-body shame despit looking presentable after having six kids, losing a ovary that ruptured in childbirth and nearly dyin on the operating table. Social media fuels thes criticisms daily, no wonder GenZ are so depresse We need to step back and remember that ou value doesn’t lie in our appearance and ou accomplishments are far greater than our bra an waist size. And forget the audacity of baldin mediocre men who resemble a potato who feel th need to comment on women’s appearance. That an entirely new irritating trend. Speak to yourself with kindness. Treat your bod as a source of strength and joy rather than a object to be judged. Your body is an incredib machine and we shouldn’t take it for granted. Women are multifaceted, resilient, and powerfu
We are leaders, artists, mothers, entrepreneur and friends. Our worth is not confined to a dres size or a wrinkle count. The next time you feel th weight of judgment, remember that your value lie in your spirit, your laughter and your passion. Ou beauty is a reflection of our confidence an authenticity where every woman is free to shin whatever shape we are.
