A Night to Remembe A Night to Remembe

If you're looking for an evening that blends delicious food, vibrant culture, and unforgettable entertainment, Zaatar Syrian Lebanese Restaurant is the place to be.

The atmosphere at Zaatar is warm and inviting, with traditional décor that sets the tone for an authentic experience. The highlight of the night? The mesmerizing bellydancing performance. The dancer moved with such grace and energy—it was captivating. The live music added an extra layer of excitement, turning the entire dining area into a celebration. It wasn’t just entertainment; it was a cultural showcase that brought the restaurant to life

After dinner, we relaxed with a shisha. The flavors were smooth and aromatic, definitely worth trying. Sitting back under the night sky with friends, sharing stories over shisha, and soaking in the ambiance made for a perfect ending to the evening.

Of course, the food deserves its own praise. From the rich, creamy hummus to the perfectly grilled meats and fragrant salads, every bite was a delight. The service was attentive, and the staff clearly took pride in making sure we had a memorable night. Zaatar isn’t just a restaurant it’s an experience. Whether you're a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine, live performance, or simply looking for a fun night out, I highly recommend giving it a visit

Elena Skarou

Hi, my name is Elena and I am a property consultant with Fox Realty in Cyprus. I live in Paralimni but specialise in properties all over the island. My role is to guide and support clients in buring, selling or renting properties, provinfing professional advice and tailored solutions to meet their needs. A typical day for me involves market analysis, client meetings, property viewings and sales negotiations. It’s always with the goal of ensuring the best possible outcome for each individual case

The real estate market in Cyprus is particularly dynamic, offering both investment opportunities and an excellent quality of

life. The island’s strategic location, favourable climate and continuous infrastructure development are key reasons why Cyprus attracts both local and international investors.

The clients I value the most are those who recognise the importance of professional collaboration and tho trust my guidance throughout the decisionmaking process. Through mutual trust, we are able to achieve the most successful results together.

What I love most about my work is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in helping clients reach their goals. Each successful collaboration is not just a transaction but the foundation of a long-term relationshop built on trust, professionalism and reliability.

In my Circology™ framework, which identifies compatibility through patterns of energy and behaviour, the Clown role captures the essence of presenting a charming facade while concealing deeper thoughts or vulnerabilities.

The Clown wears a metaphorical mask: face painted with exaggerated joy, fun, and boundless energy, to draw in adoration. But it hides a sad or thoughtful side that craves solitude This role highlights how some individuals curate their outward persona to engage others, blending playfulness with an inner complexity that isn't immediately visible.

People who wear such masks often use them for control, and the Clown is no exception By projecting constant cheer and lavishing affection on their partner, the Clown orchestrates the relationship's emotional tone, ensuring they receive the love and attention they desire in return. It's affection for affection's sake: generous gestures, playful surprises, and endless warmth that create a reciprocal cycle. This isn't the manipulative love bombing we caution against; it's a genuine, if strategic, way to foster connection and maintain harmony on their terms. However, this control stems from a need to shield their inner world, where introspection reigns The Clown's approach can create a vibrant bond, but it requires awareness to avoid unintended power imbalances over time.

The Clown's Hidden Depths

When the mask slips, perhaps after a lively evening or during quiet moments, the Clown becomes subdued, retreating into thoughtfulness Partners must understand this isn't withdrawal or disinterest; it's essential recharge time. Pressing for interaction then can feel invasive, disrupting the Clown's balance. Instead, give them space to process; they'll emerge refreshed, ready to shine again Recognising these rhythms prevents misunderstandings and strengthens trust.

The Clown's ideal partners are passive and supportive types who adore unconditionally, letting the Clown take centre stage as the star These companions provide a steady backdrop, appreciating the performance without demanding the spotlight, creating a dynamic where the Clown feels secure enough to occasionally reveal their unmasked self. Such matches allow the Clown to thrive without constant performance pressure

Ultimately, masks in relationships aren't inherently deceptive; they're tools for navigation and protection. Embracing the Clown's full spectrum means valuing the joy while respecting the quiet, leading to deeper, more authentic bonds It's about finding compatibility that honours both sides, turning potential conflicts into opportunities for growth and mutual understanding. Curators’s Walk

This takes place through the streets and shoreline of Larnaca during the Biennale, where the city itself becomes both setting and subject. Inspired by David Le Breton’s notion of walking as a way of inscribing meaning in the world, the walk invites participants to encounter Larnaca not as a backdrop but as a living body of memory and movement.

Rather than a conventional guided tour, the walk becomes a shared choreography of attention. Silence, listening, or reflection are introduced as ways of attuning to Larnaca’s layered presence In this way, the city reveals itself as archive and stage, both fragile and enduring

WITCHES OF CYPRUS -Folklore history

As Halloween approaches did you know of the spooky stories surrounding witches in Cyprus?

WITCHES OF THE FOUR LANTERNS OF LIMASSOL

This tale revolves around women who were said to possess an enigmatic aura that set them apart from the conventional ideals of their society

These women, often seen as healers or mystics, practiced herbal medicine and engaged in rituals that were misunderstood as witchcraft. Their refusal to submit to the expectations of obedience, modesty, and domesticity led to their branding as witches. The four lanterns referenced in the legend symbolize the guiding light of their courage and independence, even in the face of suspicion and fear The women were regarded as guardians of a different truth, one that resisted oppressive norms and championed the freedom to live authentically Their story serves as a metaphor for the resilience of Cypriot women, who have long navigated challenges with unwavering determination.

THE MALLEUS MALEFICARUM

The story of a sailor turned into a donkey by a witch is a traditional Cypriot folktale about a sailor who is forced into servitude by a witch who has turned him into a donkey and keeps him on her estate for three years.

The sailor, though fed and sheltered and even allowed to speak with the witches at times, is miserable because he cannot go to church

The donkey kneels down before the church outside and the witch starts to beat him, causing suspicion with the locals She is brought before a judge with the donkey and tortured until she confesses what she did. She turned the animal back into sailor so he could go home, while the witch languished in prison for her crime

CALL ME A WITCH

Halloween is fast approaching and it's the season where witches pop up everywhere. In supermarkets and across social media feeds, pointy hats, broomsticks, and cauldrons have become harmless seasonal decor. But behind the candy-coated imagery lies a long history of how the word witch has been used to silence, shame, and control women.

For centuries, calling a woman a witch was a way to brand her dangerous for daring to exist outside narrow expectations. The witch label was hurled at midwives who knew too much about healing, widows who owned property without a man, and outspoken women who challenged authority. Thousands of women were persecuted not because of real sorcery, but because they embodied independence in a maledominated world terrified of female power. Witches, real or imagined, have always gathered in circles supporting, teaching, and protecting one another. Feminist communities today echo that spirit, whether it’s through activism, mentorship, or simply sharing wisdom and encouragement. The witch is no longer a solitary figure in the woods; she’s a collective force, proving that women are strongest when they lift each other up. Even witchy fashion trends such as flowing black dresses, moon-shaped jewelry, or celestial prints carry a quiet defiance, signaling that femininity and strength can be the same thing.

carry an edge of insult. It’s synonymous with being difficult, unruly, or threatening. It’s often used as dig for women who are outspoken or refuse to conform. But in recent years, women and feminists have turned the term on its head. What was once an insult is now a banner of strength, resilience, and sisterhood. Many women such as myself have proudly reclaimed the word, turning it into a badge of resistance. Modern witches, from feminist activists to spiritual practitioners, see witchcraft as a metaphor for selfknowledge, communal care, and defiance against systems that try to diminish women’s voices. The broomstick becomes a symbol of movement and freedom, the cauldron a space for transformation. I have always called myself a witch and literally have a badge pinned on my jacket. A witch to me represents power. I make my own magic and I won’t apologise for it. This Halloween, when you slip on a pointed hat or light a pumpkin-scented candle, remember the lineage you’re invoking. You’re tapping into a lineage of women who refused to be quietened. You’re celebrating the idea that women can be powerful, unconventional, and even a little intimidating and that this is something to be proud of. Calling a woman a witch has always been about fear of her strength. Reclaiming it is about joyfully owning that strength.

So go ahead and be a witch. Be spellbinding and unapologetically powerful. It’s a reminder that women’s magic, whether in the form of leadership, love, or laughter, has always been real. The world may have once been afraid of that magic, but now it can’t look away. And there’s nothing scarier, or more thrilling than a woman who refuses to be burned.
