AUTUMN IS HERE

To celebrate the changing nature of the seasons, Terrace Station is opening its heritage gardens on Sunday, April 2nd and again on May 7th. Unlike in some previous years of drought, Kate Foster of the Terrace Station Charitable Trust is looking forward to the leaves clinging to the trees for much longer. The old oaks and sequoias in the Big Walkway provide vital shade, along with acer maples, linden limes, holm oaks and cedars. The numerous shrubs and flowers are a haven for birds and insects which are sometimes sadly lacking in our modern farming environment.
Roses will still provide some late colour along with late flowering plants such as liriope and sternbergia.

The Hutch will be open displaying historic farming and gardening tools along with 19th century domestic items, some of which are the subject of lively debate as to their original uses. Children will be kept entertained with printed lists of items to discover in the gardens and woods. Visitors are invited to bring their picnics to enjoy on the lawns around the historic house. There will also be a small plant stall.

The $10 entry fee goes to the Terrace Station Charitable Trust, children enter free. Please note there is no eftpos, it’s cash only. Terrace Station will be signposted from the Hororata roundabout. Please leave dogs at home
