PORK PIE CHARITY RUN

The Pork Pie Charity Run is a biannual fundraising week-long road trip for mini owners starting in Paihia on March 31st. Fifty minis, old and new, will travel down the country finishing in Invercargill on April 5th, raising money for the chosen charity, KidsCan.

Team Mums on the Run for 2023 starts with sisters, Viki McClimont from Darfield and Karlie Cornish from Ashburton in ‘Herman’ the mini. Viki will be joined by local Kylie Chaffey, in Darfield, for the completion of the Run.

The Run is all about raising money for a great charity. KidsCan helps provide Kiwi kids with the basics they need to get into the classroom in a position to learn. KidsCan has been in operation since 2005, providing food, clothing, shoes, socks and basic health and hygiene items to thousands of children all around New Zealand who are living in material hardship.

They work closely with early childhood centres and primary, secondary and high schools in deciles 1-4. The KidsCan mission is to provide the essentials to Kiwi kids affected by poverty so they can participate in learning and have an opportunity for a better future. Their vision is a better New Zealand for all Kiwi kids.

KidsCan believes that every child in New Zealand deserves an equal chance to learn, and if they arrive in the classroom fed, dry and warm, learning outcomes and participation will increase.
