MALVERN RIFLE CLUB

On March 25th, the Malvern Rifle Club hosted the annual interclub competition between themselves and the Ashburton District Rifle Club. A coached team competition with Target Rifle Teams competing for the Jack Shield and F Class Teams competing for the Banks Peninsula Shield. Shot over three ranges, 300, 500 and 600 yards, with seven counting shots at each distance.

Other shooters had a separate target to shoot on. Their scores are for their first seven counting shots at each range.

The coaches for the Target Rifle teams did an excellent job, with many possibles (35/35) being scored. The top individual Target Rifle shooter was John Miller from Ashburton, coached by John Snowden. The top individual F Class shooter was Jarrod Lawson , coached by John Snowden.

It was special to have two life members attend prizegiving this year, both Dave Beatty and Shannon McAleer shared stories about their time as young cricket players for South Malvern while presenting cups their families have kindly donated to the well deserved recipients.

Congratulations to all members on a well played season, and the Club is looking forward to seeing you all back in October for the 2023/24 season.

The Malvern Rifle Club won the Jack Shield for the best Target Rifle Team total, and the Ashburton District Rifle Club won the Banks Peninsula Shield for the best F Class Team Total. This weekend is the Canterbury Autumn competition hosted by the Ashburton District Rifle Club at their Ashburton Range. The Malvern Range will be closed on the 1st of April.
