Division 11/18C This is our “sister division” Division 11/18C. The lieutenant governor is Shirley Chou who some of you got to meet at the May DCM. Her division covers Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, and Chilliwack. Their divisional mascot is the crab and their divisional colours are red and white to show off their Canadian spirit. Together, Division 13/15/17 and 11/18C are the only Canadian divisions in the Pacific Northwest District!
International Trustee Meet our district's International Trustee, Roshni Chandwani! She was elected at the International Convention. As International Trustee, she will be looking after the Pacific Northwest (us), Kentucky Tennessee, and Eastern Canada Districts! Also, big congrats to PNW's Kelsie Hoppes for also winning an International Trustee position!

CLUB REPORTS - OCTOBER Britannia
This month, Key Clubbers got to learn what the ELIMINATE project is by watching videos from Kiwanis. After learning about our goals as a global club, members got to dedicate their time to fulfilling this goal by selling guesses for the 'Guess How Many Candies Are in this Jar' fundraiser, held at Britannia during lunch hour. The prize for the person with the correct guess will be 2 movie tickets and of course, the jar of candy! We raised over $40, a great start for the first fundraiser of the year for Key Club at Brit. In addition, members from Britannia Key club got to trickor-treat for the ELIMINATE project, with their snazzy orange boxes. Great job, members! Without you, we would not have come this far.

VanTech
October was super busy for Van Tech's Key Club! To begin the month, many of our members volunteered for the crazy Color Me Rad run. What an experience it was to have coloured corn starch up our noses! Later, a few of our execs got the opportunity to translate all our Key Club energy into being crowd pumpers for We Day. It was beyond amazing to feel and hear all the inspiration from this event. (The singers were awesome too!!) Another event we helped in this month was with the BC Music Educators' Association at River Rock Casino. Unfortunately we weren't able to gamble, but we did get to volunteer super early in the morning helping with music workshops and more importantly, the chance to bond with one another. To end off this action packed month, we held a Halloween party to welcome our new members and celebrated with costumes, games, and food. It was so great seeing a big group of our club come out and have fun. Can't wait to see the festivities for the winter months!

Prince Of Wales
In October, PW Key Club had our very first meeting of the school year! Prior to the first meeting, we had a big clubs day event at school where clubs got to set up booths of their own and promote, so students could sign up. We managed to get a lot of new members this year so we are very happy and excited to work with them! Also, PW has been working on recruiting grade representatives and also a finance officer as the spot is still empty right now. We have done various volunteer positions as well, and we fundraised for the Eliminate Project with the UNICEF boxes.

Pinetree
In October, Pinetree held their garage sale for The Eliminate Project. Even through the cold weather, many Pinetree Key Clubbers came out to help sell donated goods. At the end of the day, Pinetree raised a grand total of $685.70 for The Eliminate Project!
Burnaby North
This October, Burnaby North Secondary has completed its first event, dubbed “Halloween Horror Movie Night”. We played Insidious, and we sold movie tickets as a way to raise money. We sold the tickets for $1.50, and about 20 people showed up for the event. It was a successful event, and a successful horror movie screening judging from the screams during the movie! In total, we raised about $30 for the event.

Killarney
This past month started off with a great volunteering experience at Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's Run for the Cure! Twenty-two amazing Killarney key clubbers spent 4 hours cheering on the runners and walkers. We also had a great turnout at this month's DCM, with 12 members attending. We had lots of fun making Halloween cards/colouring pages for children at BC Cancer's Children Hopsital and munching on Soobeen's snacks (: Our school's Clubs Day also took place this month and the following two meetings after that we had around 80100 members! At these two meetings, we created powerpoints to familiarize the key clubbers with what Key Club is and what the execs do, and also gave out candy and UNICEF trick-or-treat boxes, right in time for Halloween! Our Mystery Jar fundraiser ended, and although we only managed to make a bit of profit from that, we generated a lot of awareness around the school for Key Club and the Eliminate Project. Our SPC card sales also concluded and around $90 was made for The Eliminate Project.

DISTRICT PROJECT 9 160 38 61 1.80
One baby dies every 9 minutes from maternal and neonatal tetanus
160 babies dies each day from maternal and neonatal tetanus
38 countries remain at high risk for maternal and neonatal tetanus
It was announced at Spring Board by Governor Trang Tran that our district project for the term is The Eliminate Project. The Eliminate Project raises money for women in multiple countries that are effected by Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus. MNT is caused when tetanus spores, found in soil everywhere, come into contact with open cuts during childbirth.
Kiwanis will help protect 61 million mothers and their future babies
The effects are excruciating - newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and have extreme sensitivity to light and touch. There is little hope of survival and the baby dies within 7 days of being alive.
It only takes $1.80 to provide 3 tetanus vaccinations to one mother
Together, Kiwanis and UNICEF can stop this disease.
With around 12000 Key Clubbers in the Pacific Northwest, our district goal is to get $2 dollars per member for a total of $24000 by District Convention 2014. I would like to put Vice Presidents within each club in charge of organizing fundraisers for the Eliminate Project. Consider making a Projects or Fundraising Committee with interested club members. My goal for our division is $200 per club by DCON 2014!
Eliminate Educate Educate yourself about MNT, and share what you learn with your club, your community, your family and your school. Advocate Let the world know that the poorest, most vulnerable babies and mothers need our help. Rally others to get involved. Eliminate Over the next five years, the work you do to eliminate MNT will change the world. Together, Kiwanis and UNICEF will eliminate MNT and give the poorest families the chance to lead the healthy lives they deserve.
Make sure to be advertising the project and fundraise! If you want some ideas for fundraisers, hold a Miracle Minute at your club meeting! Bake sales at lunch hour are usually very successful too! Get creative with fundraiser ideas. At big school events, have a booth set up for your club and sell goods for The Eliminate Project.
The district board made a PNW Eliminate Project page to show updates on our district's progress. Like and share the page! facebook.com/PnwEliminateProject
Board Of Magical Surprises This is the Board Of Magical Surprises, a point system where clubs will be rewarded for various things. This page will show what points each club got for the previous month and their overall total. At the end of the term, I will be tallying up all marks and the winning CHARTERED and UNCHARTED club will receive a reasonable prize of their choice. Let's see who wins at the end of the term! :)
