From the President

Dear LBC Members,

February was a month of flood scares that I hope not to repeat! I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Board, staff, and members who helped us secure the first floor of the clubhouse I also want to thank all of our members for your patience and understanding as we weathered each day’s river forecast and had to make the difficult decision to close the club and prepare for the worst Fortunately, the water levels did not reach the tennis barn or other indoor areas. The Board unanimously approved covering the costs for the preventative efforts from the Flood Reserve Account The Club fully reopened on Tuesday, February 25, and members have been enjoying a week of welcome back Happy Hour Specials

Now it’s time to look forward to spring and warmer weather! Check out the member calendar and make plans to attend the Mardi Gras dinner on the 4th, the Father/Daughter Dance on the 7th, Sunday Brunch on the 9th, Lunch With on the 14th, St Patrick’s Day special on the 15th, Family Movie Night and Summer Sports Signups on the 16th, Adult Bingo on the 25th, the Lobster dinner on the 27th, 99¢ Kid’s Dinners on Wednesday evenings, and more There is something for everyone this month at LBC, including the regular fitness classes and racquet programming Please remember to RSVP for all events by calling the club, on the app, or on the Club’s website

Sincerely,

president@louisvilleboatclub com

From the River Captain

Greetings from the Docks!

As winter recedes and the warmth of spring approaches, we can’t help but feel the excitement building for the upcoming 2025 boating season on the Docks! One of my favorite days each year is the first day I have my boat out.

There are a few things you can do to help us get ready for the 2025 season:

1.

Join our contact list - We need a contact list for folks who want to be involved in LBC boating or dock events This helps us get our members involved and continue to build the community down on the docks. If you would like to receive communication about LBC boating or dock events, please email me at mlow78@gmail com

3.

Reserve Your Slip for 2025 - As we gear up for another fantastic year, it’s time to start thinking about reserving your slip for the 2025 boating season Our annual letter will be coming out in April, and we encourage you to act quickly to secure your spot. Last year, our dock slips were completely full, and we anticipate high demand once again Don’t miss out on the chance to be part of our vibrant boating community

2 Programming Suggestions for the Summer - We’re always looking for new ways to enhance your experience on the docks, and we’d love to hear your suggestions for facility improvements or programming this summer. Whether it’s more social events, educational workshops, or familyfriendly activities, your input is invaluable in helping us create a season that’s fun and engaging for everyone. Please send your ideas and suggestions to mlow78@gmail com Your feedback is crucial in making our community even better

As always, we ’ re committed to bringing our members closer together and creating lasting memories on the river We look forward to seeing you out on the water and sharing another amazing boating season with you and your family.

Wishing you fair winds and following seas,

FITNESS UPDATES

FITNESS SPOTLIGHT

Featuring Amanda Penn

My name is Amanda Penn - my husband Wes and I joined LBC in April 2024 and welcomed our first daughter, Sarah, in June! We’re excited to be a part of a family-friendly and active community as we grow our family - We’ll be spending lots of time at the baby pool this summer!

My favorite hobbies are playing tennis and working out This past fall I wanted to focus on fitness postbaby, so I decided to try the LBC fitness classes It’s a great class and has helped me with cardio and strength I work from home Mondays & Wednesdays, so I come to the 11:30am workout class on these days led by Donnie In fact, Tom Tyrrell has nicknamed me “Monday-Wednesday Amanda ”

These classes are challenging and fun Every day is a different template, so it’s a great opportunity to try all of the equipment in the gym I would encourage anyone who is interested to come give it a try!
