RACQUET REPORT

Hello racqueteers and paddlers, welcome to the spookiest of all months, October!

We have a busy schedule this October, but before we get into what’s on tap, let’s take a quick look back at September

September brought us a lot of nice weather and great tennis We successfully finished our Club Singles Championships out on the clay courts Our club champion for Men’s A singles is Jacob Scheinler Runner up for Men’s A singles is Nick Isaacs Men’s B singles champion is Matthew Roberts with Richard Meena coming into the runner-up spot. Finally, the Men’s C singles Champion is Tom Evans with Mike Anderson coming in as runner-up. Congratulations to all our participants in all the divisions

We also had another wonderful evening of Ladies Night Out Pickleball Over 20 ladies of different pickle levels came out to enjoy a nice but hot night of pickleball, drinks, appetizers, and a whole lot of socializing It was great to see all of the wonderful support of our LBC pickleball program and we are looking forward to getting out again later in October.

LOOKING FORWARD TO OCTOBER, OUR TENNIS AND PICKLEBALL SCHEDULE WILL BE FILLING UP Tennis:

With our indoor season starting, we will still try to keep a majority of our clay courts running throughout the month of October However, we will look to start moving programming inside as the weather turns cold later in the month We will look to showcase a few new adult clinics and fast feeds this month including an adult beginner program aimed at our Members who are looking to take up tennis or have already started and want to continue to improve Please keep an eye out for the introduction to our new clinics early this month. We also have plenty of spots open in our Junior Development Program We currently run clinics for kids ages 5-18 of varying levels If you are interested in your child joining one of our great clinics, please contact Tcurran@louisvilleboatclub com

Pickleball:

Fall pickleball is just getting started! As the temperature cools, it will be a great time to get on the pickleball courts for some fun and competitive pickleball action We will look to introduce a couple of new beginner pickleball clinics into the mix this month including Tactical Pickleball, which will highlight basic strategic concepts of pickleball and how to implement them into play Please keep an eye out for our exciting new programming starting in October We will also look to continue our Saturday Pickleball League, Dink and Drink Come out for some fun pickleball play and cold drinks during the beautiful October Saturday afternoons Finally, we will look to hold October’s Ladies Night Out Pickleball in the later part of October Ladies Night Out is open to all levels and is a fun way to meet new pickleball friends

Platform Tennis

As the temperature starts to drop, that’s when you know that platform tennis season is right around the corner We will look to have a platform tennis kickoff party in the late part of October to bring in the season We will enjoy some fun play as well as drinks and socializing around the fire pit. All levels are welcome and encouraged to join Please stay tuned for details dropping shortly

I hope we all have a fun October and can’t wait to see you all on the courts

All the best,

PENDENNIS SMACKDOWN REPORT:

SQUASH UPDATE

The Pendennis Club hosted the first Smackdown of the 2024-2025 season We had some great matches lined up LBC started the winning streak When Richard Johnson faced David Brinch, he had a 3-1 victory It was awesome for Richard to get back into the swing of things with such success Then there was John Moermen who challenged Joshua Watkins, with a 3-1 victory All credit be to his smooth hands! Mohammed Alsorogi followed up with another 3-1 win against Michelle Cristante It was a good farewell send off for Cristante's last match Then Pendennis got their engines started Bruce Blythe got the Pen their first victory against Blake Blythe Blake Blythe made Bruce work for the 3-2 W Blake Blythe stayed on the court to take on Grant Ferguson and lost 31 Bruce played well, but had time to study the game of his strong opponent Blake Blythe

Jacob Huff took on Doug Grissom with his two handed forehand as a repeat of their match-up previously Jacob tried his best but couldn't get the victory over the two forehand with a 3-0 loss We all were intrigued by the last match between Allen Dodd and Robbie Foust, which went the distance and gave a lot of entertainment to the crowd You could even hear the cheers turning into game analysis!

Overall the Pendennis took the 5-3 victory for a second straight victory over LBC We are thankful for all those that came to support the players

JUNIOR REPORT:

One of the Academy Juniors, Jack Blythe, traveled to Atlanta this past weekend to compete in a US Squash Junior Gold Tournament Jack took a game of a 5 1 rated player which was a great effort He ended up finishing in 13-16 position Well done Jack!

Thanks,

Lee Scott

Director of Squash
