WELCOMETOFEBRUARYRACQUETEERSANDPADDLERS!

Hello Racqueteers and Paddlers, welcome to February! We made it through the cold weather of January, and we are now moving right into the month of love We have a full month ahead, so let’s dive right into what’s on tap for this month

TENNIS:

From the rackets From the rackets committee committee Members,

As we move into this month, tennis will hold a familiar schedule with practices, clinics, and fast feeds Our junior program will be moving into our second winter session starting February 3rd and running for 4 weeks We encourage all participants to sign up for a 4-week session as it will allow us to staff the clinic properly There is also a slight clinic discount for signing up for an entire session. For more information, please email tcurran@louisvilleboatclubcom We also would like to formally introduce our newest Monday fast feed Mondays from 6-7:30 PM we will hold a 30-35 fast feed If you are interested in joining us, please email Travis Curran to get placed on the text group for weekly participation and updates We will also look to continue our adult beginner clinic on Tuesdays at 5 PM If you are interested or know somebody who would like to join the clinic, please contact Travis Curran at tcurran@louisvilleboatclubcom for more information

PICKLEBALL:

We have a busy schedule on the pickleball courts this month We will look to continue our pickleball leagues on Mondays and Saturdays The Monday Men’s Ladder league, an intermediate to advanced pickleball league, has been a huge hit as we regularly fill up the pickleball courts on Mondays at 7:30 PM Our Dink and Drink on Saturdays at 2 PM, which is an intermediate to advanced level, will also continue throughout the month of February Our Dink and Drink league is a fun social league that combines co-ed pickle play, music, and beverages If you are interested in joining either league, please contact Travis Curran at tcurran@louisvilleboatclubcom Toward the end of the month, we will look to re-introduce Ladies Night Pickleball Ladies' Night Pickleball is a fun evening centered around learning and playing pickleball in a very social setting Ladies of any level are welcome to join us Stay tuned for dates, times, and additional information

PLATFORM TENNIS:

The platform tennis courts will be heating up this February We have a couple of big paddle events occurring this February February 7th and 8th will be the return of the Campbell Cup This team event, similar to golf’s Ryder Cup, pits two evenly matched teams against each other in two days of intense platform tennis There will be tons of paddle play, drinks, and firepit socializing If you are interested in coming out to watch the best of Louisville compete in platform tennis, come out to root for your favorite player and team Toward the end of February we will also hold our platform tennis club championships to see which team takes home the title We will hold both A and B levels for men and women If you are interested in playing, please contact Travis Curran for more information

Hope everyone has a great month on the court! See you out there!

All the best, Travis Curran

LBC Director of Tennis, Pickleball, and Platform Tennis

First, a slight change in our racket sport organization at the LBC Instead of each racket sport (Tennis, Squash, Platform Tennis, and Pickleball) having their own committee we will have one Rackets Committee working together along with a member of the Entertainment Committee for better coordination Second, we are excited for some new changes to our Rackets calendar this year There will be a true Club Championship with various levels of play for our 4 racket sports at the LBC In October we are bringing back the tradition of a LBC Rackets Dinner in October that will be open to the Membership but will recognize the Champions/Finalists of our Club Championships along with a few other awards Included in this recognition, will be a new category of the “LBC MVP Family” that participated across the board in the most LBC events during the year This will include not only any Club racket event but also swimming, junior tennis, and other LBC entertainment events Winning is not a factor, only participation! Trophies will be presented but also prizes (annual locker rental, food credit, wine locker, etc) A point system for the LBC MVP Family will be established to assist the LBC Board in its selection of the winner Keep an eye on the Club Calendar!

Our first racket Club Championship of the year is the LBC Club Platform Championships on Feb 22/23 There will be Gentlemen’s A & B, and Women’s divisions Signups in the pro -shop

Good luck!
