AUGUST 2022
THE BULLETIN Official Newsletter of the Louisville Boat Club
From the General Manager Dear Members and Friends: The Typhoons are out of the pool, and it’s been a great summer so far, but we are not done with summer yet! There are still some great events coming up……………. Starting with the Family Summer Olympics which were huge last year and will have some extras added to it this year!! Make your reservations soon since it is on August 6, don’t miss out!! Then, on August 19 we will have Tony and the Tan Lines back for our incredible Dock Party! Last year we had over 200 attendees, let’s make it bigger and better this year. We have the Club Championships coming up and the Interclub finals plus some other fun around the Tennis Courts. Pickleball is thriving and if you haven’t played call the Pro Shop or Kelly Marie and get signed up for Friday Nights and also Interclub pickle. In the Fall we will have two major Professional Squash Tournaments, which is a big feather in Lee’s cap for getting them to come to our Club. It will be a whole other level of play and well worth your effort to come out to watch and support it. Our July 4 Celebration and Cook Out was fun and the Low Country Boil was not ruined because of the weather. Actually, there were some folks who were happy it was inside that evening. George, Chef Omar, and Lindsey are keeping keep things humming in Food and Beverage with their new Dinner Menus which should be out soon. The new Pool Shade Canopies are a big hit and the Umbrellas that we ordered 22 weeks ago have finally arrived, they came on a slow boat from somewhere!! Another privilege of Membership to remember: We have golf privileges at Owl Creek, just call their Pro Shop to book a tee time and enjoy the reciprocity. Membership has been great, so far, this fiscal year with 37 new Members joining our ranks. So, if you have friends or business associates whom you believe would be a good addition to our roster, please send me their contact information. There has been one negative this summer, and that is the behavior of some teenage children, who think that they can do whatever they please. This situation was discussed by the Board, and going forward, behavior that interferes with anyone’s enjoyment of the Club or is deemed reckless or otherwise inappropriate will not be tolerated. First infraction, there will be a verbal warning to the children with notice to the parents. Second infraction is a formal notice that if the problems continue that the child/children could face a suspension of privileges. Third infraction will be a minimum of one week’s suspension of club privileges. What would this mean? The child would not be allowed on Club property for the length of the suspension. We regret this course of action, but it is in the best interest of all Members. And do know that we know it's rare – we are so very proud of the otherwise wonderful attitudes and respect for the Club our juniors exhibit. I want to thank all my Co-workers/Team Members, The Board, and Committee Members for their hard work and dedication to the Club and say categorically that “I could not do my job without you!” As always, we, the Team appreciate your constructive comments which help us improve the “Membership Experience.” David Drury CCM CCE
