Here we are shouldering our way through a historic year of lockdowns and restrictions and yet our beautiful patch of land has become such an oasis in the middle of it all. Fresh air, delicious food, and time with friends have been the rod and staff we’ve needed to get through this pandemic, and your Club, even strictly following the COVID guidelines, has been the place to go for all three. Chef Allen’s famous fried chicken on Tuesday has been booked solid. Wednesdays Brinner is the same story (who came up with that name!?) And the squash, tennis, and paddle clinics offered by Tyler and Lee are busting at the seams with Members working on strokes and game strategy. What a joy it is to be here and get away from it all! Of course, summer is already a warm beacon of light appearing on the horizon, but what an abundance of activities we have planned between now and then! To keep those brain cells working, you simply must plan on attending our first Evenings With featuring The Honorable Chuck Simpson speaking about the Supreme Court and how it works here and in other countries -- a subject as timely as they come. We also have our Easter carryout menu ready for you to enjoy. Then, later this summer, we’re back with the Ed Rhawn and Helen Spencer Tournaments thanks to the leadership of Tom Scovil. Not to mention a more intimate Boat Race Party in May and new events on the lawn, in the Pavilion, and down on the docks. There’s a lot more to read about so sit down and enjoy this edition of the Club’s Newsletter. As always, my respect and admiration for all you do, not the least of which is the joy and energy you bring to the Club by being here.
