There are many things happening in Doral in August. On one hand, the wait is over. Doral Glades Park is already open! This place is one of a kind in Doral. There is nothing like it, visiting it is enjoying a truly natural experience. If you are a fan of kayaking or fishing, you only have to take along your gear (or rent it for a very low price) just minutes from your home. If you want to enjoy a picnic or have a barbecue amidst nature, you can in this park now. You can also play sports or simply enjoy the wonderful view of the lake, among other activities.
Muchas cosas están sucediendo en Doral en agosto. Por un lado, se acabó la espera. ¡Ya se inauguró Doral Glades Park! Este lugar es único en Doral. No hay nada parecido; visitarlo es disfrutar de una experiencia realmente natural. Si eres fanático de hacer kayak o de la pesca, solo tienes que llevar tu equipo (o rentarlo por un precio muy bajo) a minutos de tu casa. Si quieres disfrutar de un picnic o hacer una barbacoa en medio de la naturaleza, ahora puedes en este parque. También puedes practicar deportes o simplemente disfrutar la maravillosa vista al lago, entre otras actividades.
On the other hand, a new school year begins. School vacations are over and with them the relative tranquility of Doral’s traffic. We talked with the Doral Police Department about school safety and back to school. They gave us a series of very useful tips that we should all follow.

As we all know, even during these months it’s important that we continue to learn and grow for the betterment of the community. That’s why I’ve just attended the United States Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting from June 28th to July 1st, along with more than 250 of the nation’s mayors.

Es por eso que acabo de asistir a la Reunión Anual de la Conferencia de Alcaldes de Estados Unidos la cual tuvo lugar del 28 de junio al 1ero de julio, junto con más de 250 alcaldes de la nación.
There, we engaged in discussions on a wide variety of priorities that contribute to the overall health of America’s cities, as well as consider and adopt the policy resolutions that guide the advocacy agenda of the organization.

Several important sessions also took place on a range of issues, including immigration, trade, affordable housing, the 2020 Census, jobs and climate. Many of these issues directly affect our community and are matters that City leadership continues to work towards finding innovative solutions for.

At each Doral school, from the beginning of the school day until the last student leaves, there is the same assigned police officer throughout the school year. This daily coexistence generates a relationship of trust and mutual communication between the officer, the teachers, the school principal, students, and parents. The Doral Police Department (DPD) continually instructs its officers on how to respond in the event of a shooting or emergency at school. They are trained and qualified to carry a rifle. In Miami-Dade County, teachers are not authorized to carry weapons.
DPD RECOMMENDS: • Be patient with traffic. Lack of patience causes road rage. • Do not obstruct the roads because more congestion is generated. • Do not park where it is not permitted. • Leave with enough time.Respect the speed limits of school zones. • Be cautious in whom to trust the care of children. • Do not use transport such as Uber and Lift to send children to school; however convenient and comfortable it is for parents, it is not safe for children.

Pedro Henríquez PASSION IN EACH PHOTOGRAPH PASIÓN EN CADA FOTO Pedrito, as he is affectionately known, devotes his days to social events, corporate coverage to companies such as Merrill Linch, Sushi Kong Restaurant, among many others and photo shoots of people and media figures such as Sascha Barboza, Mariela Encarnacion (anchor of CNN), Orlando Urdaneta, Georgina Mazzeo, Michelle Badillo and baseball players Carlos Gonzalez and Salvador Perez. However, his specialty are weddings.
Pedrito, como se le conoce cariñosamente, dedica sus días a los eventos sociales, las coberturas corporativas a empresas como Merrill Linch, Sushi Kong Restaurante, entre muchas otras y sesiones fotográficas a personas y figuras de los medios como Sascha Barboza, Mariela Encarnacion (ancla de CNN), Orlando Urdaneta, Georgina Mazzeo, Michelle Badillo y los peloteros Carlos González y Salvador Pérez. He manages to capture in images such particular details as the tender look of a father who gives his daughter at the altar or the happiness and love of the bride and groom during that special day. As a photographer, Pedrito is bold but subtle at the same time. Each photo speaks for itself. His excellent work quality led him to win the important Wedawards, International Wedding Photography Awards, in September 2018.
Él logra capturar en imágenes detalles tan particulares como la tierna mirada de un padre que entrega a su hija en el altar o la felicidad y el amor de los novios durante ese día tan especial. Como fotógrafo, Pedrito es atrevido pero sutil a la vez. Cada foto habla por sí misma. Su excelente calidad de trabajo lo llevó a ganar el importante premio Wedawards International Wedding Photography Awards en septiembre de 2018.
He has also obtained several awards and honors from AVECOFA, Venezuelan Association of the Photographic and Related Community. Likewise, he is an active photographer of the “I Love Venezuela” Foundation to which Pedro Henriquez makes contributions to collect funds in the annual galas and various events.

Many times they see things that correspond more to an adult person than to a preadolescent (10-12 years). The easy access to information that may confuse them in and out of school is present at all times. As parents, we cannot expect principals and teachers to instill values of life in our children. Their main task is to provide academic education to prepare children 22
while they grow up, and although there are teachers who do go beyond their academic duties, it is our duty as parents to teach social, moral, and ethical values to our children. Social education that includes respect and civic manners, respect for authority, honesty, and responsibility with their tasks, classmates, and teachers, will greatly increase the chances that our children will overcome the tests and tempting experiences that may confuse them in a given moment. Do not leave in the hands of teachers!
Mucho hemos escuchado como padres, la queja generalizada de que “los niños de hoy están demasiado expuestos a actividades que no corresponden a su edad” – refiriéndose a su exposición social en la escuela y otros eventos. Muchas veces ven cosas que corresponden más a una persona adulta que a un preadolescente (10-12 años). El fácil acceso a información que pueda confundirlos dentro y fuera de la escuela está presente en todo momento. Como padres, no podemos esperar que los directores y profesores inculquen valores de vida a nuestros hijos. Su tarea principal es impartir educación
académica para preparar a los chicos mientras van creciendo y aunque existen maestros que sí van más allá de su obligación catedrática, es nuestro deber como padres el enseñar valores sociales, morales y éticos a nuestros hijos. La educación social que incluya respeto y civismo ciudadano, modales, respeto a la autoridad, honestidad y responsabilidad con sus tareas, compañeros de clases y maestros, aumentará en gran porcentaje las probabilidades de que nuestros hijos superen las pruebas y experiencias tentadoras que puedan confundirlos en un momento dado. ¡No lo dejes en manos de los maestros!

FOR THE ASSEMBLY • 2 slices of crusty bread 1.5 inches thick by 4 inches long • 1 tablespoon butter • 4 ripe cherry tomatoes, chopped in half. • 8 Mozzarella pearls or 3 oz. of chopped Mozzarella cheese • Glazed balsamic vinegar • Olive oil • Basil
TO DO THE AVOCADO SPREAD
PARA EL UNTADO DE AGUACATE • 1 aguacate Hass maduro • 1 cucharada de limón • Sal • Pimienta
PARA EL ARMADO • 2 rebanadas de pan de costra de 1,5 pulgadas de grosor por 4 pulgadas de largo • 1 cucharada de mantequilla • 4 tomates cherry maduros picados por la mitad • 8 perlas de Mozzarella o 3 oz de queso Mozzarella picado • Glasé de vinagre balsámico • Aceite de oliva • Albahaca
PARA HACER EL UNTADO
1. Chop the avocado in half and with the help of a spoon remove the pulp from the avocado and put it in a bowl. 2. Lemon and salt are added to taste and processed with a fork to form a paste that is not very homogeneous. 3. In this case it is good to feel the pieces of avocado in the preparation.
1. Se pica el aguacate por la mitad y con la ayuda de una cuchara se saca la pulpa del aguacate y se pone en un bol. 2. Se le añade el limón y la sal al gusto y se procesa con tenedor hasta formar una pasta no muy homogénea. 3. En este caso es bueno sentir los trozos de aguacate en la preparación.
TO BUILD THE TOAST
1. Se ponen los panes en una sartén precalentada con un toque de mantequilla hasta tostar por los dos lados, se sacan de la sartén y se dejan enfriar. 2. Luego se coloca la mitad de la preparación de aguacate en cada rebanada y se esparce bien. 3. Se colocan 4 trozos de tomate en cada rebanada y 4 perlas de mozzarella. 4. Se le añade un punto de sal y se rocía con el glasé de vinagre balsámico y aceite de oliva. 5. Para terminar, se adorna con albahaca picada.
