As always we offer a warm welcome to our match officials today.
Clare Warren
It’s possible you won’t agree with every decision they make during the course of the game, but please remember this is Rugby Union, not Association Football – if you’re the type who enjoys berating or even abusing officials, I would respectfully suggest this is not the place for you.
Please respect the match officials.
Iam delighted and honoured to have been asked to serve as President of Kettering Rugby Club for the coming season and I would like to welcome everyone back to Waverley Road and thank you for supporting our club by attending todays fixture and lunch.
I’m looking forward to the 2024-2025 rugby season as we once again entertain and visit friends we have made in Midlands 2 East. Today we welcome old friends and rivals Olney RFC, their President Tom Salsbury, plus their officials, players and supporters.
Last season, our first XV finished a very creditable fifth and we are confident of an equally competitive performance throughout this season, and my thanks to all the coaches for their work so far, and I look forward to watching all of our teams progress throughout the months ahead.
I’m particularly pleased to confirm our new club captain, Josh Cox, who was outstanding last season for both the Club and the East Midlands. We wish Josh and all members of the First XV squad good fortune in what is likely to be another very hard fought season. But of course, as a community focused club, Kettering RFC is not just about our performance in the league, and we field many other senior andjunior sides, both male and female.
We are most fortunate, in that we can rely on large numbers of volunteers who give their time generously and eagerly in support of all our players and the wider club, in a variety of ways.
In addition, the generosity of our many sponsors must also be recognised and acknowledged. Can I record my sincere thanks, on behalf of our club, for everything the players, volunteers and sponsors do to promote Kettering RFC as a welcoming, inclusive and highly competitive rugby club.
Enjoy today’s game. Please cheer on our team with gusto and come back to lend your support again very soon.
Kettering RFC is a community focused rugby club with a strong business outlook whose aim is to provide a place where people of all abilities, backgrounds and cultures can play, watch and enjoy the game. With the aim to provide opportunities to play from a young age to whatever age they wish and at whatever level theyaspire to.
The club aim's to provide an environment with safe and accessible facilities open to all, to be enjoyed by spectators, parents, players, friends, and the wider community in equal measures.
Our purpose statement is supported by our strategic vision statements, which are as follows:
• Provide the one of the best development pathway in a Junior Club in the East Midlands for young players from age grade to senior rugby, providing opportunities to play at whatever level they aspire.
• Provide opportunities for families to play together, retiring players to carry on playing and ex-players to return to playing whatever age they may be. As well as providing a friendly accessible place to enable people new to the club to participate.
• Liaise with community groups/health professionals to provide facilities to support physical and mental wellness), both from within the membership as well as with external users.
• To develop facilities to be equal to any club in the area within the constraints of the site, expanding where identified to provide increased flexibility for both club and external use.
• To double the bar and catering profit within 3 years, by greater utilisation of the club and facilities. This increased income to support investment in facility improvements.
• To increase commercial income from sponsorship and advertising by 30% year on year for the next 3 years to invest in supportive initiatives for all playing activities within the club.
