As always we offer a warm welcome to our match officials today.
Clare Warren
It’s possible you won’t agree with every decision they make during the course of the game, but please remember this is Rugby Union, not Association Football – if you’re the type who enjoys berating or even abusing officials, I would respectfully suggest this is not the place for you.
Please respect the match officials.
Today is another busy day at Kettering Rugby Football Club as we welcome some special guests, firstly it’s our Sponsors Lunch and our grateful thanks go to all of our sponsors for their continued support. Without our sponsors support life as a ‘Grassroots’ rugby club
would be very difficult indeed as our costs continue to rise. We are always looking for more sponsors/partners to join us on the next stage of our journey, wherever that may lead.
We also give a very warm welcome to Oadby Wyggestonians RFC for our return game at Waverley Road, our guests are led by their President Jeff Impey and I hope they enjoy our hospitality as much as we enjoys theirs when we visit Oval Park. As we know this is a ‘must win’ game for Kettering as we look to remain in this league for next season. I know the boys are really up for this game as they have been for games for most of the season I hasten to add, but results have not gone our way and we are where we are and unfortunately the league table doesn’t lie!
Next Saturday the 1st XV are in Papa John Cup action, with a home tie against Peterborough and if we win we will be at home again, this time to Wellingborough on Saturday 26th April. The draw then opens up and if we are still in the draw we could then play one of the following clubs, Ledbury, Malvern or Stratford upon Avon.
Remember, Sunday Night is QUIZ NIGHT at Kettering Rugby Club, so why not get a table together and have some fun and even have the chance of winning some money. Also as we turn our thoughts to the summer, two events stand out in our diary:
KRFC Beer & Music Festival – Thursday 19th June – Sunday 22nd June
KRFC Presidents Golf Day - Friday 11th July
As this is my last lunch as Club President I would like to thank those who make these days special, Nick and Helen have changed our food offering to new heights and with their team of helpers go beyond to make sure lunches are special. The bar staff work tirelessly to make sure we are kept well hydrated for the afternoon, and Jon Stables has now made our wine offering special but still affordable.
I would also personally like to thank everyone who has attended lunches this season and I hope you support Helen next season as we celebrate our 150th Anniversary.
On behalf of everyone at the Club can I say a big thank you to all the Match Officials who have been to Kettering this season, please remember that without them there is no game, and we greatly appreciate their efforts. Today we welcome Andrew Beckett who is no stranger to Waverley Road
As ever: Be Loud, Be Proud and Be Respectful.
Peter May – President, Kettering Rugby Club
