When you’re raising four daughters in a town like Martinsville, summer doesn’t exactly mean rest— it means motion. From pool towels on every chair to flip-flops mysteriously reappearing by the neighbor’s mailbox (true story—we have a local fox who likes to relocate our stuff), our house is in full summer mode. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Fourth of July is always one of my favorite days of the year. There’s something magical about watching fireworks with sun-kissed kids, ice cream-sticky fingers, and friends sharing beach blankets. It’s loud, it’s simple, and it’s the kind of moment that makes you grateful to call this place home.
This issue of Bridgewater City Lifestyle is all about exploring. Whether you’re venturing far or simply rediscovering your own backyard, we’ve filled these pages with people, places and ideas to spark your curiosity.
Rachel Fuda of The Real Housewives of New Jersey (page 24) reminds us that even amid a whirlwind of cameras, toddlers, and teenagers, staying grounded is what matters most. Her story of juggling motherhood and fame feels especially relatable this time of year, when many of us are navigating the beautiful chaos of summer.
Also in this issue, Gemini Sisters Farm in Skillman (page 16) offers a peaceful reminder to slow down. With sustainable farming and eco-therapy at its core, the farm is a shining example of how reconnecting with nature can help us reconnect with ourselves.
Craving a quick escape? Turn to page 40 to explore Pendry Natirar—a luxury retreat just down the road from Bridgewater. From farm-to-table dining to axe throwing, it’s the perfect mix of indulgence and adventure.
And don’t miss this month’s City List: our monthly Readers’ Choice Awards! You voted for the best ice cream parlor, deck builder, farmstand, summer camp, pool builder, plant store, bakery and BBQ joint—and we’re announcing the winners inside. Turn to page 12 to see who earned top honors, and follow us on Instagram (@bridgewater_somerset_hills) for future categories and updates.
Wherever your summer takes you, I hope you explore joyfully and breathe deeply!
With sunblock and gratitude,
July 2025

Gemini Sisters Farm ARTICLE BY
CARLY MAC MANUS

DAVID SURKS
Imagine a place where you can pluck fresh veggies straight from the earth, listen to the rustle of trees on a winding trail, and reconnect with yourself — all in one day. Welcome to Gemini Sisters Farm, a hidden gem blooming on 6 acres in Skillman, New Jersey.
Founded by husband-and-wife team David Rodrigues and Alexa BurgessRodrigues, Gemini Sisters Farm blends two passions: sustainable farming and holistic healing. It's more than a farm — it's a living, breathing space where the community is invited to slow down, get grounded and experience nature in a new way.
The idea for the farm started more than a decade ago, when David dreamed of a big yard for pickup baseball games and Alexa longed for acres of green space like the
farms she grew up near in Somerset. As their dreams evolved, they realized they wanted more than just land — they wanted a place full of life, from chickens and livestock to lush gardens and vibrant community spaces.
The farm’s name, Gemini Sisters, is a sweet nod to their two daughters, both proud Geminis. Known for their energy, adaptability, and love of life, the girls’ spirit perfectly captures the farm’s lively, welcoming vibe.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything David and Alexa do. Since purchasing the property in 2023, they’ve prioritized restoring the soil and creating a balanced ecosystem where animals, crops, and nature thrive together. Their fresh produce and farm eggs aren’t just local — they’re a direct result of nurturing practices that keep the land healthy and the community nourished.
But what really sets Gemini Sisters Farm apart is its unique blend of farming and eco-therapy. Alexa, a licensed therapist, saw firsthand how vital nature is to mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Here, therapy doesn’t happen in an office — it happens along sun-dappled trails, beside babbling creeks, and under open skies. Whether it’s forest bathing, mindfulness walks, or gardening therapy workshops, visitors are invited to heal and reconnect in ways that feel natural and lasting.
“Our mission is to create a space where people can rediscover connection — to themselves, to others, and to the earth,” says Alexa. And the results speak for themselves: guests frequently share how experiences at Gemini Sisters Farm have helped them manage stress, practice mindfulness, and find a renewed sense of balance.
Starting a farm from scratch and introducing eco-therapy to a new audience hasn’t been without challenges, but for David and Alexa, every obstacle has been a chance to educate, inspire, and build a stronger community.
Looking ahead, Gemini Sisters Farm is just getting started. With plans to grow their therapy offerings, host retreats, and deepen community engagement, David and Alexa are cultivating more than crops — they’re nurturing a movement toward wellness, one mindful step at a time.

ZONED SPORTS ACADEMY SENDS 48 ATHLETES TO COLLEGE PROGRAMS AT 2025 SIGNING DAY
“
“It’s a celebration of years of dedication, early mornings, late nights and sacrifice — not just by the athletes, but by their families as well.”
Zoned Sports Academy proudly celebrated 48 high school athletes from northern and central New Jersey on March 6 during its annual Signing Day event, recognizing student-athletes who officially committed to continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.
“It is our ultimate goal to see our kids play collegiately, and we take pride in seeing so many of our student-athletes enter the next chapter in their academic and athletic careers,” says Duke Baxter, Zoned Sports Academy owner and former professional baseball player. “Some of these kids have trained with us for over 10 years, and we are incredibly proud to see them achieve their dreams.”
Since its founding 22 years ago, Zoned Sports Academy athletes have collectively earned more than $24 million in college scholarships. The athletes recognized at this year’s Signing Day represented a wide range of high schools, including Bridgewater-Raritan, Summit, The Hun School, Union Catholic, St. Thomas Aquinas, North Hunterdon, Scotch Plains-Fanwood, Governor Livingston, Gill St. Bernard’s, Immaculata, Montgomery, Hillsborough, Pingry, Seton Hall Prep, Easton, South Plainfield, Freedom, Randolph, Oratory Prep, Ridge, Bernardsville, Hunterdon Central, Mount Saint Mary and North Plainfield.
These student-athletes will continue their academic and athletic journeys at many of the nation’s top colleges and universities, including the University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University, Villanova University, Pepperdine University, Purdue University, Lehigh University, Boston College, Stevens Institute of Technology, Hofstra University, The College of New Jersey, Rutgers University and others.
During the ceremony, each athlete walked the “turf carpet,” signed their commitment certificate, and received a personalized jersey as a memento of their achievement. The event was filled with energy and emotion, as proud families, coaches and teammates gathered to celebrate this significant milestone.
“This is one of our favorite days of the year,” Baxter shares. “It’s a celebration of years of dedication, early mornings, late nights and sacrifice — not just by the athletes, but by their families as well. It’s incredibly rewarding to see it all pay off.”
For Zoned Sports Academy, the 2025 Signing Day was more than a ceremony — it was a tribute to perseverance, growth and future success. As Baxter looks ahead, he remains committed to shaping the next generation of student-athletes ready to excel on and off the field.

For Rachel Fuda, star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, fame isn’t the finish line—family is. While millions of Bravo fans know her for her polished style, quick wit, and reality TV presence, Fuda remains firmly grounded in her role at home.
“Being a mom is what defines me right now,” she shares. “This is a very temporary little-kid phase of life, and I’m trying to be as present as possible.”
That phase is a full one. Fuda and her husband, John, are raising four children, ranging from a newborn to a high school senior. Their dinner conversations span from college decisions to toddler tantrums—and somehow, she makes it all look seamless.
“I’m sending one son off to college and caring for a newborn at the same time,” she explains. “It’s full-circle chaos—but it’s beautiful.”
Fuda, who was born on Long Island and raised in Bergen County, now calls Franklin Lakes home. Staying close to her roots has always been important. “There’s something special about knowing who your kids go to school with, who your neighbors are. You don’t need to hang out every weekend, but it’s nice to be surrounded by familiar, good people.”
RACHEL FUDA - TV PERSONALITY

Beyond her role on television, she’s a businesswoman. Together with her husband, she recently launched Glam Studio Suites in Norwood and helps operate Valet King, a tri-state parking concierge service. The workload is hefty, but the Fuda’s are clear on what matters.
“We’ve always known what’s important—family, marriage, and doing right by people,” she notes.
That clarity has helped her navigate the whirlwind of reality TV without losing herself. When she joined RHONJ, her youngest daughter Giuliana was just eight weeks old. “It was wild,” she laughs. “But we had a family conversation before committing. I wanted my oldest, Jaiden, to be comfortable with it. I’m really big on boundaries.”
Jaiden, now a high school senior, embraced the opportunity—and even enjoys his own local fame. “He walks the boardwalk in Seaside Heights and gets stopped by girls asking for pictures. He’s loving it.”
Still, the public spotlight has its downsides, especially online. Like many reality stars, Fuda has had to set clear boundaries with social media.
“I’ve been in therapy for a long time, and I’m a big advocate for mental health. People will judge everything—from your parenting to the color of your shorts,” she says with a wry smile. “But I’ve learned the less you read, the better. Ignorance really is bliss.”
Support comes not only from within her home, but also from her Bravo circle. Melissa and Joe Gorga—fellow castmates have become close friends. The families connected through their sons, who played youth football together, and that connection quickly deepened.
As for the show, Fuda takes a measured approach. She’s grateful for the experiences—attending the VMAs, meeting Bravo fans at BravoCon—but she keeps her life in perspective.
“The show is secondary to me. My life doesn’t change whether I’m on or off it,” she affirms. “What I have in my real life is what matters most.”
Looking ahead, she’s starting to think about the next phase. “Right now, I’m in survival mode,” she laughs. “But once the kids are all in school, I’d love to do something for myself. Write a book, maybe launch something new—something that fills my soul.”
Her outlook is shaped by the long view of parenting. “Your kids need you in different ways as they grow. When they’re older, I know I’ll need something for me, too—something that’s just mine.”
Giving back is already part of her story. Diagnosed with arthritis at just four years old, she had both hips replaced by 18. Today, she works closely with the Arthritis Foundation, hosting events and raising awareness for young people living with the condition.
“There were no resources when I was 14, going through all that. I felt so different from everyone else,” she shares. “Now I try to be the support I didn’t have.”
Through it all—motherhood, business, TV—her values haven’t wavered. “John always says, ‘One hand washes the other, and two hands wash a face.’ That’s how New Jersey works. That’s how we work.”
For Fuda, staying grounded in what matters most—family, community, and authenticity—is the real key to navigating it all.
“WE’VE ALWAYS KNOWN WHAT’S IMPORTANT— FAMILY, MARRIAGE, AND DOING RIGHT BY PEOPLE.”RACHEL FUDA
During the uncertainty of the pandemic, Surabhi Khare a Bridgewater local discovered solace in the intricate patterns of mandalas. What began as a personal journey of mindfulness and healing soon evolved into Sur Creative Studio, a space where art, energy and intention come together to create unique, handcrafted pieces.
“I found deep peace in the mesmerizing symmetry and sacred geometry of mandalas,” Khare says. “They became my way of expressing mindfulness, healing and connection.”
At Sur Creative Studio, each mandala is more than just a design—it is an experience. Every piece is created in a meditative state, allowing intuition and creativity to guide the process.
“No two mandalas are ever the same,” she shares. “Each one carries meaning, emotion and purpose—whether for grounding, healing or inner harmony.”
Beyond aesthetics, Khare's work invites viewers to pause and reflect. With careful attention to color, shape and intention, she hopes her creations bring peace and balance into people’s lives.
One of the most pivotal moments in Khare's artistic journey was receiving her first order from a stranger.
“Waking up to that confirmation was more than just a transaction,” she explains. “It was validation—proof that my art could touch lives beyond my immediate circle.”
This experience reinforced her belief in the power of creativity to inspire, connect and heal.
From selecting high-quality materials to the final packaging, every step in Khare's process is done with care. She sees her work and Etsy shop as part of a larger vision—building a community that values mindfulness and self-expression through art.
“As I grow as an artist, my goal remains the same: to spread beauty, balance and joy,” she says. “This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to share the rest of this journey with you.”
For those who seek a moment of serenity in handcrafted art, Sur Creative Studio offers more than just mandalas—it offers a connection to something deeper.

In today’s fast-paced world, finding a healthcare provider who truly listens can feel rare — but for patients of Dr. Teresa DeStefano and Dr. John Raziano, it’s the norm. This husband-and-wife dental team has built a practice rooted in personalized care, community connection, and a deep commitment to wellness. Their Bridgewater office is more than just a place for checkups — it’s a welcoming environment where each patient is treated like family. At the heart of their practice is a dedicated staff that enhances the patient experience. Carol, the front office administrator, plays a crucial role. “Carol is the first person our patients meet, and she sets the tone for their entire visit,” Dr. Raziano says. “Her friendly demeanor and efficiency help ease any anxiety new patients might have.” Positive feedback about Carol frequently highlights her exceptional ability to connect with patients from the moment they arrive.
The practice’s approach to customer service sets it apart from others in the area. “We credit our entire team for creating a positive patient experience,” Dr. DeStefano explains. “Everyone, from the front desk to our dental hygienists, is dedicated to making sure our patients feel cared for and valued.”
ARTICLE BY CARLY MAC MANUS | PHOTOGRAPHY BY LIZ POLO - MY HAVANA PHOTOGRAPHY
The hygiene team—Linda, Natalie, and Susan—is equally committed. “Our hygienists are not only excellent clinicians but also educators,” Dr. Raziano shares. “They empower our patients with knowledge, helping them take charge of their own dental health.”
Outside of work, both doctors bring unique personal interests to their lives. Dr. Raziano is an avid gardener and Mets fan. “Gardening helps me relax and appreciate nature,” he says. Meanwhile, Dr. DeStefano enjoys creative pursuits such as pottery. “I love throwing pottery and painting my pieces. It’s a great way to express myself and spend time with family and friends,” she explains.
Both doctors are active members of the Seattle Study Club, a professional organization focused on education and collaboration. Dr. DeStefano also served as an attending dentist at Robert Wood Johnson’s Dental Residency Program, mentoring college students and young dentists. “We believe in giving back to the community and supporting the next generation of dental professionals,” she shares.
The couple emphasizes the connection between oral health and overall health. “We focus on educating our patients about the link between oral and systemic health,” Dr. Raziano notes. “Our patients aren’t just a set of teeth; they’re individuals with unique health needs.”
In their practice, they encourage patients to prioritize self-care, including regular dental visits and good hygiene habits. “Taking care of your oral health is an essential part of taking care of yourself,” Dr. DeStefano shares. “We aim to foster a culture of wellness that extends beyond the dental chair.”
As Dr. Raziano and Dr. DeStefano continue to serve the Bridgewater community, their focus remains on enhancing patient experiences through exceptional service and education. “Our goal is to create a friendly environment where patients feel comfortable and informed,” Dr. Raziano says.
With a strong support team, a commitment to mentorship, and a focus on holistic health, this dynamic duo is redefining what it means to be a community dental practice — ensuring every smile they care for is healthy and bright.

INGREDIENTS:
• 1½ to 2 pounds of Branzino fillet (or use Sea Bass, Flounder, or even Red Snapper)
• 3 tablespoons olive oil, separated
• 2 teaspoons lemon juice, plus the juice of one lemon
• ½ teaspoon lemon zest
• 2 large cloves garlic, crushed and finely minced, divided
• 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
• Salt and pepper
• Flour for dusting
• ½ to 1 teaspoon Bomba (Calabrian chili paste)
• ½ cup dry white wine
• 1 pint grape tomatoes, halved
• 4 handfuls baby arugula
DIRECTIONS:
1. Season the Branzino fillets generously on both sides.
2. In a glass pie plate, whisk together 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, lemon zest, half the garlic, and rosemary. Add the fillets, turn to coat, and refrigerate for 20 minutes, flipping once.
3. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Remove fillets from marinade and dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess.
4. Sear fillets skin-side down for 4 minutes or until golden and crisp. Flip and cook another 3 minutes, or until just cooked through. Transfer to a warm platter.
5. In the same pan, add remaining olive oil, then sauté the rest of the garlic and Bomba for 30 seconds. Pour in the wine and simmer until reduced by half. Add tomatoes and heat through. Stir in lemon juice and season to taste. 6. To serve, divide baby arugula among four plates, top with fish, and spoon the warm tomato mixture over. Pour any extra juices from the platter into the pan, swirl, and drizzle over everything.
Son of a gun! I promised myself I wouldn’t cry today—but then I pictured the new puppy licking my face… sob, sniff, sniff… whew. I gotta go.

Sometimes, the perfect escape isn’t far away—it’s just a scenic hour from NYC. Tucked into the rolling hills of Somerset County, New Jersey, Pendry Natirar feels like a world apart. It's where luxury meets nature, and the result is nothing short of magic. If you're craving a weekend that actually feels like a vacation (without the hassle of travel), this hidden gem delivers in every way.
Luxury in the Heart of Nature
Pendry Natirar isn’t your average weekend stay—it’s an experience. Set on 90 acres of pristine countryside, the property is a stunning blend of rustic charm and modern sophistication. From the moment I drove through the gates, I felt the shift: slower pace, fresh air, and peace I hadn’t realized I needed.
Every detail of the design is inspired by nature—from the earthy tones to the sprawling gardens and panoramic views.
What makes Pendry Natirar special isn’t just the setting—it’s how it invites you to engage with it. This isn’t a place where you stay inside and watch the view from afar. It’s a place to explore, connect, and rediscover the little joys of being outdoors.
One of my favorite parts of the trip? A visit to The Farm at Pendry Natirar. I joined a guided tour through the barnyard and got up close with their free-range chickens, fluffy sheep, and yes—adorable baby chicks. Beyond being cute, it was a real look into the farm’s sustainable practices and how everything on the property works in harmony with the land. It felt wholesome, grounding, and honestly, a little therapeutic.
Another charming surprise? The estate’s own hen house, home to over 150 free-range chickens. Their eggs go straight to Ninety Acres, the on-site restaurant, and end up on your breakfast plate the next morning. There’s something special about tasting a dish made with ingredients grown just steps away—it’s hyper-local dining at its best.
If you’re like me and crave a little action between spa time and wine tastings, Pendry has you covered. Thanks to their partnership with Compass Sports, there are plenty of ways to get moving outdoors.
I kicked off the weekend with a hike along the estate’s private trails, winding through wildflowers and woods with views that looked like something out of a movie. It was peaceful, energizing, and the perfect way to shake off the week.
Then, just for fun, I booked a private archery and axe throwing session—because why not? It was an hour of unexpected laughs and surprisingly satisfying aim practice. A little competitive, a little cathartic, and a whole lot of fun.
Pendry Natirar was everything I didn’t know I needed: a luxurious yet down-to-earth retreat with just the right amount of adventure, indulgence, and fresh air. I left feeling lighter, calmer, and reconnected—to nature, to the moment, and to myself.
So if you're looking for a getaway that doesn't require a plane ticket but still feels like a true escape, put Pendry Natirar at the top of your list. Trust me—you won’t want to leave. Plan Your Stay
