Chaos, Cuddles, and the Heart of a Home

There’s something wildly chaotic and wonderfully pure about life with kids and pets. Both demand snacks, make messes, and somehow manage to steal your heart... usually before 8 a.m. Sometimes, you just have to laugh at the madness. I, myself, remain hopeful that one day my house will be clean and I might finally be able to have nice things.

July means Kids & Pets:  a perfect mix of great chaos and memory-making. Let me tell you, between pawfriendly patio hopping and trying to decode whatever in the world my kids are saying.

Kids have a way of teaching us how to grow. Their curiosity, honesty, and wild energy remind us to slow down, be present, and see the world through a different lens.

Then we’ve got our pets: loyal, loving, and somehow always in tune with what we need. They’re not just pets. They’re part of the family. They bring comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.

Speaking of love,  our Anniversary Party was an absolute hit! This community showed up, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our partners and sponsors and local businesses that showed up! The energy felt and love was undeniable. This is what happens when local businesses and our community come together to collaborate, support one another, and celebrate community.

At Centennial City Lifestyle, we believe in embracing the real-life, love-filled chaos that comes with raising kids and caring for our fur babies. In this issue, you’ll find stories, services, and local bar patios that support every version of family life.

And of course, we’re keeping the fun going and sticking with the Kids & Pets theme at our next Happy Hour at Max Taps on Thursday, August 21st from 3–6 PM. The patio? Oh my wolf, it’s perfect.

Here’s to sticky fingers, muddy paw prints, and a whole lot of love.

VETERINARY CARE THAT Travels with Heart and Purpose

THE IMPACT OF THE MOBILE PAWLYCLINIC
ARTICLE BY VALERIE BIANCULLI | PHOTOGRAPHY BY VIEPHOTOS

In a community that loves its four-legged family members, one local clinic is redefining how veterinary care is delivered. The Mobile Pawlyclinic brings expert, compassionate care straight to your doorstep—no car rides, no crowded waiting rooms. Their practice operates as a veterinary clinic on wheels offering primary care, urgent care and end of life services —all in the comfort of your own home.

The Mobile Pawlyclinic was co-founded by Dr. Rahim and her husband, Steve Leong, who refers to the venture as more than just a business. “It’s really a passion project for us,” Steve explains. “We saw a gap in veterinary care, especially for people and pets who struggle with access. So we decided to meet them where they are.”

The motivation behind a mobile clinic was inspired by Dr. Rahim’s experience in both primary care and emergency veterinary settings, where she frequently observed that certain populations—such as senior citizens and individuals with disabilities—faced significant barriers to accessing veterinary care and were often unintentionally underserved. For elderly or unwell pet parents, anxious pets, and busy families, having veterinary care come right to their doorstep brings comfort, ease, and reassurance when it’s needed most.

Accessibility and convenience aren’t the only focus. Education is at the heart of every appointment. “When we perform an exam, our goal is to make it a collaborative experience,” says Steve. “We take the time to explain what we’re seeing, walk pet parents through the available treatment options, and customize our recommendations to fit both their lifestyle and their pet’s unique needs. By sharing the why behind the what, we empower pet parents to make confident decisions—whether it’s about immediate care or long-term wellness,” says Steve.

The mobile veterinary setting offers an invaluable lens into a pet’s daily life. By stepping into the home, we’re able to identify and recommend small but impactful changes that can significantly

improve quality of life: adding a step or ramp to help an arthritic cat access the litter box, relocating a toxic plant from a countertop, or observing the dynamic between pets in a multi-animal household. These real-time insights go far beyond what’s possible in an exam room, turning each visit into an opportunity for deeply personalized, preventative care rooted in the pet’s actual environment. They’ve also found that the home setting can help reduce fear-based behaviors in pets. “A lot of animals are much calmer in their own environment,” Dr. Rahim notes.

“No unfamiliar smells, no barking dogs in the lobby, no slippery floors. That allows us to build trust with the pet, which makes exams and treatments far more effective in the long run. By delivering care in the comfort of the pet’s own space, we are able to provide a more compassionate, tailored approach, particularly for those animals who are most vulnerable outside their familiar surroundings.”

We walk pet parents through different treatment options and tailor everything to fit their lifestyle and their pet’s needs.

Despite being on wheels, the care offered is comprehensive. “We’re a full general practice,” Steve says. “From wellness exams and vaccines to managing chronic illnesses and end-of-life care.” Their appointments average 45 minutes to an hour, giving clients one-on-one time with the vet. “You’re not rushed. You’re really getting the attention you and your pet deserve.”

community’s support,” Steve reflects. “In response to increasing demand, we recently added our third mobile unit and are in the process of hiring a second veterinarian.” Expanding their scope of care, they have also initiated the development of a brick-and-mortar surgical clinic designed to provide routine and urgent procedures, such as spays, neuters, dental surgeries, and foreign body removals, that require the precision and controlled environment of a traditional facility. “Surgical care demands careful post-operative monitoring, and imaging necessitates a radiation-safe space,” Steve explains. “To ease the burden on clients, we even offer transport services when needed, ensuring pets receive seamless, comprehensive care every step of the way.”

—Steve Leong

Their commitment extends well beyond clinical visits. Medications are hand-delivered, and memorial items following euthanasia are personally returned to families. “Trust is everything,” Steve emphasizes. “We’re invited into people’s homes, and we honor that privilege deeply.”

Since launching just over a year ago, The Pawlyclinic has experienced consistent and meaningful growth. “We’re truly grateful for the

As word-of-mouth continues to fuel their growth, Steve and Dr. Rahim remain steadfast in their mission. “It’s not about the quantity of care,” Steve stresses. “It’s about the quality of care, making sure every pet and pet parent receives the thoughtful, individualized attention they deserve.”

CREATING magic, ONE BALLOON at a time

When it comes to celebrating life’s moments, big or small, Piti’s Parties brings joy, imagination, and a whole lot of balloon magic to the table. Founded by Ana Guerrero, a mom of four with an eye for color and a heart for celebration, the business has quickly blossomed from backyard birthdays to full-scale events that leave guests speechless.

“I’ve always loved celebrating life’s little (and big!) moments,” Ana says. “After decorating parties for my own kids and friends, I realized how much joy it brought me, and how much people appreciated the extra flair.” That flair soon became a signature service, and Piti’s Parties was born with a mission to make beautiful moments feel effortless for every client.

The name itself carries deep meaning. “Everyone calls my mom ‘Pita,’ but my grandfather affectionately calls her ‘Piti,’” Ana explains. “Naming the business after her was my way of honoring where I come from.”

While the company offers an impressive range of services, from table and chair rentals to bounce castles, slumber setups, bubble houses, and luxe picnics, it’s their stunning balloon designs that have captured the most attention. “Balloons are pure magic,” Ana says. “They can transform a simple space into a total experience.”

Crafting joyful, heartfelt celebrations honoring life’s milestones with care and creativity.

Piti’s Parties takes a custom approach to every celebration. It all begins with listening: favorite colors, themes, vibes, and yes, even Pinterest boards. Then comes the creative magic, where sketches turn into scenes, and every detail, down to the napkin or name card, supports the theme.

From soft and dreamy baby showers to bold birthday bashes, every event is infused with heart. “I want every guest to walk in and feel transported,” Ana says. That passion has led to unforgettable setups, including a heartfelt quinceañera for a single mother and a pink-pawed birthday bash for a pup named Olive.

Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its emotional moments. One baby shower stood out in particular, planned for a mother whose baby arrived prematurely at 26 weeks. “She still wanted to celebrate,” Ana shares. “Her strength and hope were so admirable. We poured our hearts into that setup, and now that baby girl is thriving.”

Inspiration flows from many places: nature, fashion, kids’ shows, even a cute plate at Target. But it’s the people that spark the real magic. “Hearing what they love and watching a child light up talking about dinosaurs or unicorns, that’s where the vision begins.”

As for trends? Think pastel palettes with bold accents, layered balloon textures, and luxe picnics with a twist. And while there are no formal expansions on the horizon, Ana and her team are always game to stretch their creative muscles. “If we can do it, we’ll make it happen.”

With strong community roots and a growing list of happy clients, Piti’s Parties continues to bring joy to families, one event at a time. “Focus on what brings your child joy,” Ana advises parents. “It doesn’t have to be perfect, just personal.”

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about perfection, it’s about creating moments that matter.

For many families, experiencing the unexpected loss of a child late in pregnancy is an unspoken heartbreak, one that reshapes every part of life. But the Walk With Me Foundation has made it their mission to ensure no one has to navigate that journey alone. Founded by a family who welcomed and said goodbye to their newborn son, Logan, within the same hour, Walk With Me was created from personal experience and the deep desire to help others find support, healing and community.

A FOUNDATION OF HOPE, HEALING, AND ONGOING COMMUNITY SUPPORT

“A BIG FEAR FOR PARENTS IS THAT THEIR BABY’S NAME OR STORY WON’T BE REMEMBERED, SO I MAKE SURE PEOPLE DO.”

Over the past decade, the organization has walked alongside more than 600 families with personalized programs that meet their needs in some of life’s most tender moments. From keepsake memory kits and counseling resources to funeral assistance and long-term community support, their holistic approach ensures families are cared for both emotionally and practically.

For Justin and Mary Hill, that care arrived at a time when they needed it most. After a joyful pregnancy and months of preparation, they were ready to meet their daughter, Charlotte Ann, affectionately known as “Charli.” But days before their induction, their lives shifted unexpectedly. During their hospital stay, Walk With Me volunteers gently entered their story, offering comfort, resources, and something many others couldn’t, shared understanding.

“We didn’t feel alone, even though we felt lost,” Justin recalls. “Walk With Me gave us something our well-meaning friends and family couldn’t, a connection to others who truly understood what we were going through.”

Through keepsakes like their beloved “Charlotte Bear” and peer-led support gatherings, the Hills found a safe space to process, reflect, and remember. And when the world around them resumed its pace, Walk With Me continued showing up, month after month, with thoughtful touches that reminded them they were not forgotten.

That compassion sparked a shift in Justin’s life. With a background in human resources and hotel management, he decided to start fresh, building a new path with Apex Energy Solutions that offered both flexibility and purpose. He chose to turn his work into something that would honor Charlotte and support other families through Walk With Me. Today, he donates $100 from each window project to the foundation, sponsors events, and speaks out to help other parents feel seen and supported.

“A big fear for parents is that their baby’s name or story won’t be remembered,” he says. “So I make sure people do remember.” CONTINUED >

ABOUT WALK WITH ME

Founded in Colorado, Walk With Me offers personalized support for families facing the unexpected loss of a child during late pregnancy or shortly after birth. Created from lived experience, Walk With Me meets families with grace, compassion, and the resources they need, right when they need them most.

Their comprehensive care includes memory-making kits donated to local hospitals, financial support for final arrangements, professional counseling resources, and peer-led connections that foster hope and healing. Families are welcomed without pressure or timelines, and Walk With Me’s ongoing care includes memorial events, family advocacy, and thoughtful outreach throughout the year.

With over a decade of impact and more than 600 families served, Walk With Me is more than a nonprofit—it’s a community rooted in empathy. Their mission is to ensure every family feels supported, remembered, and surrounded by others who truly understand.

The Hills have since grown their family, welcoming their son Charles Thomas in December 2022, named in loving tribute to his big sister. While every child brings their own light, the experience of welcoming another child comes with layers of emotion and renewed appreciation for what it means to hold life closely.

For the Hills, giving back through Walk With Me has become more than an act of service, it’s part of their family legacy. Whether attending remembrance walks, helping assemble memory boxes, or sharing their story with newly grieving families, they’re committed to shining a light in the darkness for others. “It’s not just about what Walk With Me did for us,” Mary shares. “It’s about what we can now do for someone else, even if it’s just letting them know we see them.”

That ripple effect is at the heart of the foundation’s impact. Many of the volunteers and peer supporters have walked this road themselves, creating a circle of empathy and strength that grows with every story shared. It’s a place where tears are welcome, milestones are honored, and even the smallest lives are celebrated with enduring love.

As the foundation looks ahead, its mission remains rooted in the belief that healing happens in community. Through annual events, family retreats, and ongoing outreach, Walk With Me continues to hold space for grief while nurturing hope, reminding families that even in the quietest heartbreaks, they are never walking alone.

Justin’s journey is just one of many that Walk With Me has impacted over the years. And it’s stories like his that keep the foundation grounded in its mission: to provide consistent, compassionate care, from the first days of grief to the lifelong journey of remembering, healing, and honoring.

Walk With Me doesn’t exist because of loss, it exists because of love. And through meaningful partnerships with families and businesses like Apex Energy Solutions, that love continues to grow and reach more families with every step.

CRINGE IS THE New Connection

BECAUSE RAISING KIDS IS HARD ENOUGH, UNDERSTANDING THEM SHOULDN’T REQUIRE A TRANSLATOR… OR TIKTOK.

Raising kids in 2025 means learning to speak fluent Gen Alpha and no, there’s no Duolingo for that. Between the “bussin” lunches and “goofy ahhh” TikToks, it can feel like you’ve entered an alternate language zone.

I’ve got three kids (they asked to remain anonymous because… cringe): my 19-year-old daughter, who rolls her eyes right along with the boys but also helps me decode; and two sons, 11 and 9, who remind me daily that I am definitely no longer the cool one in the house. But instead of fighting it, I leaned in.

Now I tell them to “touch grass.” I call their outfits “mid.” I casually drop a “no cap” just to relate. Do they cringe? Absolutely. Am I guaranteed a side-eye? Every single time.

But here’s my thinking: if using their slang helps me connect, or maybe even win back a sliver of cool, I’ll take it. And hey, if I embarrass them enough to make them stop using it altogether? Even better. Has it worked? Not yet. But here’s hoping.

So if your kid says their friend has “rizz” and lunch “slapped,” don’t panic. I think I’ve decoded just enough of the Gen Alpha language to help you win back some cool, or at least start a great dinner conversation.

“If embarrassing my kids with Gen Alpha slang is wrong, I don’t wanna be ‘mid.’ No cap.”

Cap / Capping

MEANING: A lie.

TRANSLATION: “That’s not true.”

No Cap

MEANING: You’re being honest.

TRANSLATION: “For real.”

Skibidi

MEANING: Random, chaotic meme from the internet.

TRANSLATION: “I can’t explain it. It’s just Gen Alpha energy.”

Slay

MEANING: To succeed or look amazing.

TRANSLATION: “You nailed it” or “You look fire.”

Bussin

MEANING: Delicious. Usually about food.

TRANSLATION: “So good I need seconds.”

Low Key

MEANING: Quietly or subtly.

Mid

MEANING: Mediocre.

TRANSLATION: “It’s just okay.”

Disclaimer: After reading this list, my kids told me, “No one says that anymore.” So use with caution. And if they hit you with a side-eye? Congratulations, you’re officially fluent.

KIDS AND POPSICLES ARE THE PERFECT SUMMERTIME PAIR

As temperatures rise, children race to the freezer for this frosty treat or wait anxiously for the approach of the musical ice cream truck. Making homemade popsicles is a fun, kidfriendly activity. These recipes feature kid-favorite flavors with an added taste twist. The only tricky part is waiting for them to freeze.
