HE LLA NEWSLETTER Issue #7 March 11, 2024 IN THIS ISSUE Founder’s Note What’s Been Happening? This Week’s Spotlight Coming Up Weekly Book Recommendations March Madness Party
ETe same redible erience p g Texas, thus inspiring educators to collaborate and build ecosystems for strategic and powerful impact. The connections made there have left me optimistic about the future of Leading Little Arrows and the impact we can continue to make. As I reflect on the significance of this opportunity, I cannot help but bring the focus closer to home. While I pour my heart into our mission, I am constantly reminded that my first ministry is my family The extensive travel, albeit rewarding, has its toll, and being away from my babies weighs heavy on my heart. This Spring Break, my family and I are intentionally slowing down, immersing ourselves in the beauty of our local environment by vacationing close to home We're relishing all that the DFW area has to offer, cherishing moments of togetherness and presence. I challenge each of you this week to carve out intentional time for your loved ones It doesn't have to come with a hefty price tag; rather, the simple joys found in your own backyard can create lasting family bonds And speaking of family fun, don't forget to join us for our March Madness Family Party on March 15th (details on page 9) – it promises to be a blast and completely free!

HERE ARE A FEW OF MY SUGGESTIONS FOR MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR SPRING BREAK
Explore Your Local Library: Did you know that libraries often host a plethora of events and workshops specifically tailored for families during spring break? From storytime sessions to craft workshops and educational programs, libraries are dedicated to providing enriching experiences that foster learning and creativity for families in the community
Family Game Night: Research shows that regular family game nights not only strengthen family bonds but also improve children's social skills and emotional intelligence Plus, it's a great opportunity for some healthy competition and laughter.
Visit a Museum and Picnic in the Park: Studies have found that exposure to art and culture enhances creativity and critical thinking skills in children Additionally, spending time outdoors in nature has been linked to improved attention spans and reduced stress levels
Family Karaoke Night: Singing together as a family releases endorphins, reduces stress, and strengthens emotional connections It's also a fantastic way to boost confidence and self-expression in children (Disney-themed karaoke is always a hit in our household)
Backyard Camping Trip: Spending time outdoors boosts mood and reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression for both children and adults. Additionally, camping provides a unique opportunity to unplug from technology and reconnect with nature and each other
For even more fantastic ideas, be sure to check out the robust collection of activities from our community partners at PBS affiliate KERA: Explore the Outdoors With PBS KIDS | PBS KIDS for Parents.
These suggestions are guaranteed to get you into the Spring of things See what I did there? I encourage you to embrace these simple pleasures and cherish the moments spent with your loved ones this spring break Let's make this time one filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories
With Gratitude,
AmberO.

FIELD TRIP FUN WITH BLACK HISTORY MONTH CRAFTS AND LASER TAG. OUR TEEN AND TWEEN GIRLS CONNECTING OVER MUSIC AND ANIME.
At LLA, we have been studying great inventors and recently wrapped up the unit with a field trip day of laser tag to honor Lonnie Johnson, the inventor of the Super Soaker.
During our end of day's meeting, some of the kids, who also attend LLA microschool, presented their Black History Month research papers. We listened to inspiring speeches about influential black figures in our country, such as Barack Obama, Booker T. Washington, and Thurgood Marshall.
We are incredibly proud of all our LLA learners and are excited to kick off our new unit on dinosaurs!
