It's war out there, and BOOT Camp is a call to arms to join the Lord's Army. There is no middle ground. You're either a soldier of Christ (the Commander-in Chief), or a POW of the enemy! At BOOT Camp, recruits will learn to battle their own sin nature, learn how to equip themselves for daily battle, and learn how to march against the darkness with the Gospel, advancing on the enemy and helping to claim territory for the name of Christ!

As a soon to be graduate you each have gone through a period of time that has challenged you daily for a number of years. The constant challenges of waking up on time, completing homework assignments, and taking tests just to name a few, have all started to groom you into the men that you will ultimately become. We want you all to know that what you’ve done in graduating is no small endeavor and we thank God for your willingness to see this task to the end. Gentlemen we on the Youth Department are excited to say congratulations and job well done.

The Pow er of Asso ciations

2 Kings 7:1-‐2 (NLT) Elisha replied, “Listen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, five quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver,[a] and ten quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver.[b]” The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!”

Eleanor Roosevelt was once asked what she desired most for her husband. Her response was that she prayed that he would surround himself with people that spoke the right things into his ear or spirit. A study has shown that we are a composite of the five people we spend the most time with. In the book of 2 Kings chapter 7, a king lost his blessings (favor) with the Lord. The scriptures say it was because of the person whose hand the king would lean on or the person whose advice the king would take; these are all people who influenced him. Our associations determine our choices, our choices determine our decisions and our decisions determine our destiny. My prayer is that we align ourselves with the people that God has chosen for us to help us reach our God given purposes.

Understanding Soul -‐Ties (Godly) and (Ungodly) How to break ungodly soul ties-‐ Isaiah 10:27

What is a soul tie? A soul tie is the joining or knitting together in the bonds of a relationship. Godly soul ties occur when like-‐minded believers are joined together in the things of God. It involves the joining of minds, ideas and views, as well as emotional unions in the feeling realm. Soul ties can be very laid back or very overpowering depending on the depth and time involved in the relationship. Ungodly soul ties occur when we have an unhealthy attachment with another person that can adversely affect our lives. There are four types of soul ties in relationships: 1. Thread relationships 2. String relationships 3. Rope relationship 4. Cable relationship Examples of ungodly soul-‐ties: * Ungodly Parental Relationships –1st Sam. 2:29;3:13; Isa.3:12 * Unhealthy Relationships – Proverbs 22:24-‐25; Proverbs 14:7 * Impure Sexual Activity – Gen. 34:1-‐3; 1st Kings 11: 1-‐2; 1st Corin. 6:15-‐16 Steps to breaking ungodly soul-‐ties: * Confess any and all ungodly ties to the Lord. * Make a commitment to the Lord to break off any relationship that is not pure or righteous in his eyes. * Pray, wait, forgive and worship God. Symptoms of ungodly soul ties: * An inability to bring our relationships under Godly order and control of the Holy ghost. * Obsessive preoccupation with another, to the point of neglecting the things of the Lord. * Tendency to be domineering and controlling in relationships. * Hearing another voice playing over and over in your head like a tape recorder. * Tendency to be passive in relationships (easily manipulated). * Fear of “being real with” or speaking truth to another (intimidation and fear of man). * Inability to truly forgive from the heart. Examples of Godly soul –ties: * Marriage-‐ Gen. 2:21-‐24 * Friendships-‐ Ruth 1:14-‐17 * Soul ties with other believers –1st Corin.2:1-‐2 * Pastors/Spiritual leaders – 2nd Sam. 20:2 * Parents/ Children – Gen. 44:30-‐31 Evangelist Janice Harper/Bible Study/January 22, 2003 May 1, 2014

One of the visions of the Upper Room is to build the M.A.C. building in order to have the space needed to minister to lost souls through various ministries and outreaches. We believe that one of the best ways to ‘preach’ Jesus is by serving our fellow man in their time of natural and spiritual need. We desire your prayers and financial support as we work in the Lord’s vineyard to take the good news to those who are hurting, bruised, and broken by the trial of life. We ask that as the Lord leads those who are willing, to sow a monthly seed of $40, $30, or $20 during 2014. Friends, we don’t have a promise of a miracle for your obedience, but we can promise that your seed will be used to further the kingdom of God. To begin sowing your monthly seed, or to get more information regarding our vision for the M.A.C. building, contact our church business office at (501) 955-5511. We continuously pray that God’s will be fulfilled in your life and ministry. In His Service, Apostle Milton and Evangelist Janice Harper May 1, 2014
