Volume 7, Issue 12

A Purposed Generation: The Greatest Gift For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). This is a very familiar passage which is often recited during the Christmas season. We sing songs like Away in a Manger and Silent Night to pay tribute to the wondrous gift of Christ. We hold services and pageants to tell others about this gift of love. Truly there will never be a greater gift given to man! During this time of celebrating the great gift given to us, I encourage us to explore the gift(s) we give to God. Psalm 116:12 asks, “What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?” What could we possibly give one who is Alpha and Omega? Who owns the cattle on a thousand hills? He who was, he who is, and he who is to come? The one who framed the world by his words alone? What could we possible give to him that he doesn’t already have? The answer is quite simple: we can give him US! Psalm 116:13 says, “I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord.” When we accept or receive the cup of salvation and call upon his name, it’s the best gift we can ever give to God. That doesn’t denote lip service where we say we believe, but quickly return to our own ways. No, this receiving of God’s gift means we accept salvation and all it encompasses. It means we accept that God is the author and finisher of our faith. We accept that in him we live, in him we move and in him we have our very being. It means that we willingly do the things that will strengthen our relationship with God. It’s daily choosing to embrace this gift and treating it in a way that reflects its untold value and worth. It’s thirsting for his presence. It’s loving him with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. While using our gifts and talents for the Lord is a commendable service; let’s not forget to give him the gift he truly desires. Let’s give him us. Open your heart to the Lord and make it his continual dwelling place.

Lord, we willingly, faithfully, and cheerfully worship You with our giving through tithes and offerings. We release our faith and finances so that ALL our ministry facilities will be built and our vision will be established in the earth. We believe that as we sow seed to establish the vision of Your house, You will also establish ours! Therefore, as a result of our obedience and love in giving, we thank You for raises and increases, borrowed money to be returned to us, bonuses and increased commissions, rebates, dividends, gifts and inheritances, cancelled debt and surprise checks in the mail. We bless You for blessing the health of our bodies, the sanity of our minds and the quality of our relationships. We honor You for the divine favor that You bring to our lives! In Jesus’ Name…. Amen
