A Purposed Generation: Win with the Word The lure of the world seems stronger now than ever. It’s like the enemy is doing everything possible to draw our youth, and those young at heart, away from the truth of God’s word. Perversion seems to run rampant. It is in the music, on T.V., social media; even in our schools. Have you given any thought to the amount of temptation facing our youth today? Genesis 4:7 tells us that not only does sin desire our youth, but it lies crouching at the door. If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him (Genesis 4:7). How then, do we arm ourselves against the wiles of the enemy? How do we stand in the midst of our chaotic world? We must arm ourselves with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. By adhering to Psalm 119: 11, Thy Word have I hid in mine hear, that I might not sin against thee. We must study the Word, learn the Word, declare the Word, and obey the Word. The Word is what we use to cast down the thoughts from the enemy. The Word is what we use to control our tongue when our tempers flare. The Word is what we use to gain the strength needed to resist temptation. In Matthew 4:3-11, Jesus gave us a blue print to using the Word. Every time the enemy tempted him, Jesus used the Word to cast down the thoughts of the enemy. The Word is the key to living a consistent, submitted, victorious life unto the Lord. We can live a victorious life. We can stand against the lure of the world. We can live holy lives acceptable to God. How can a young person stay pure? By obeying God’s Word (Psalm 119:9 NLT). In His Service, Prophetess Nichole Parks

Why We Study the Word Elder Steven Whitfield 1.) To be able to speak of your faith more clearly. A life verse allows you to articulate your faith to those around you. Your family, friends, co-workers and church benefit from the clarity in your life that comes with a life verse. It may seem overwhelming to bring up lots of scripture in a conversation, but a simple life verse can open the door for God to come in. Your faith then becomes more clear as you share your life verse(s) with others. (1 Peter 3:15) 2.) To speak of your faith more often. A life verse is one that comes to mind on a regular basis. What is your mission? What is your goal? Why is your hpe in the Lord? When trials come, you have something to lean on, God’s Word, because not only is it tucked away in your heart, but right at the tip of your tongue and in the forefront of your mind all of the time. (Romans 8:38-39; Psalms 119:37) 3.) To be able to speak of your faith more confidently. A life verse gives confidence to live out your call. Your life is being shaped by the story you tell yourself. Too often, with far too many people, the store in our hearts and heads is one of low self-confidence. Allow the power of the scriptures to become your story, let it shape your confidence. (2 Timothy 1:7; Philippians 4:13; Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
