RVHS Bulletin Aspiration Respect Endeavour Weekending Friday 8th May 2020 Message from the Headteacher I really hope that everyone is keeping safe and coping well with the continued lockdown. Currently, we have not been provided with any information as to when schools will be reopening, but we may hear more of the government’s plans later this weekend. As soon as we have any updates, we will pass on this information directly. There is continued speculation in the media, but the Department of Education have today tweeted that, there is no set date for schools to reopen. Schools will remain closed to most students until scientific advice indicates it is right to reopen and the five tests set out to beat this virus have been met’. My thoughts are with all in our community, especially those families and staff who have been so sadly affected by the virus. The school may be closed to the majority, but can I reiterate that we remain totally committed to the continued welfare, education and support of all our students during this time. I would like to thank all the parents who have offered their continued support and gratitude for the learning support being offered by the school during this unprecedented time. My teachers are certainly trying all sorts of innovative ideas to engage our students with their continued learning and to help maintain both physical and mental health. It is great to see so many students engaging in the numerous virtual challenges being set. We have put together a whole package of support for home learning which includes:     

Updated Home Learning Booklet The Students Quick Guide to Using Google Classroom RVHS Guidance to Home Learning Timetable – practical advice on timing expectations Parent guidance and support around safeguarding and online security Mental Health guidance and activities

All these can be accessed via the website Home Learning COVID-19 To keep up to date with all that is happening at Roding Valley High School please do follow us on the school twitter account @RodingValleyHS, the PE department’s twitter account @RodingValleyPE, the teaching and learning twitter @RVHST&L, or our Instagram account @rodingvalleyhs. Please also keep an eye on your emails for numerous other bulletins and correspondence, including our Maths Broadcast, Humanities Broadcast, Roding Reads, Roding Matters, Wellbeing Wednesday, Brain Boosters, PE Challenges and much more. This week’s Humanities have also produced an additional broadcast celebrating VE Day; this is available on our school website. The government has launched the following learning platforms, Oak National Academy https://www.thenational.academy/ and BBC Bitesize Daily lessons. Your child should continue to follow the guidelines set by the school but I have asked teachers to incorporate these great additional resources into the work being set. We will be celebrating ‘Thank a Teacher’ day on the 20th May so all nominations would be greatly received.
