“Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”
RVHS Bulletin Weekending Friday 12th November 2021 0pts
Dear Parents / Carers, We are really enjoying the opportunities getting back to a more ‘normal’ pre-covid time brings. However, I must ask that you support the continued well-being of the school community by ensuring students take lateral flow tests every Wednesday and Sunday night. This is helping us to maintain a full school provision at this time. It has been wonderful to open the doors for our 6th Form Open Evening this week, and I am delighted that so many families came to visit the school. The evening was a huge success, with excellent feedback on the information provided for students by the subject specialists and Miss Wheaton, Director of Sixth Form, and the level of support offered. There was a significant external student interest and presence at the evening, validating our position as the ‘school of choice’. I wanted to share one particular parents’ tweet, ’5 years ago we were looking at secondary schools. Last night we attended the RV 6th Form Open Eve. I’m so glad we chose RVHS. The school has been brilliant. Looking forward to the next and final step on the learning pathway’. All the information regarding applying to our sixth form and the provision we offer can be found on our website. Photos are shared in this bulletin, but please can I encourage parents to follow the school on Twitter account @RodingValleyHS and our Instagram account @rodingvalleyhs for live updates regarding daily life at the school. Our Year 11 students are to be praised for their attitude, resilience and efforts in their ongoing PrePublic Exams (PPEs). Following a consultation, the Department for Education has set out its plans for how GCSEs and A Level exams will be run next year and what schools will be expected to do if the Covid pandemic meant they had to be cancelled for the third year in a row. More details will be provided, but the press release 11/11/21 can be read here: https://www.tes.com/news/gcses-and-levels-2022-how-exams-will-run-next-summer I am sorry, but I must also mention this current TikTok craze, which is sweeping the nation. Videos are being uploaded of teachers. If you have not heard of it, I have attached a press release from the TES. https://www.tes.com/news/government-steps-over-tiktok-teacher-abuse-videos-dfe I will take a very dim view of any of our students involving themselves in this activity or posting anything which is deemed offensive or discriminatory against our school or our staff.
