tric Dance winner. She found the design for her dress while browsing through famous designers’ dresses. “I came across a celebrity dress which was worn on the red carpet. I used the basic design and asked my designer, Anton Randall, to incorporate it into what I had in mind,” says Xanlyn. “Technically it is our own original design.” According to Xanlyn, it took two months for her dream dress to be completed. Her hair and make-up were done by her sister, Xanlee, who is currently studying in that field of work. She was accompanied to the dance by Seth de Swardt. Her mother encouraged her to enter the Kouga Express Miss Matric Dance competition. “I took a leap of faith to see where it might lead me,” says Xanlyn. Her advice to next year’s matriculants? “Work hard in order to achieve your dreams and aspirations in life. Remember, live for a goal, not for people or things.” ) Xanlyn walks away with an Eco Ocean Safari for two from St Francis Safaris valued at R1 150, one night stay for two people in a luxury tent at Pabala Tented Bush Camp valued at R500, a Daniel Klein watch worth R1 195, a R1 000 Fountains Mall and Pick n Pay voucher, a full body massage and Placecol basic facial from C-Senso Beauty Clinic and a Woodlands Dairy hamper.
