Dirk Ellis VW takes pole position MONIQUE BASSON GOOD . . . better . . . best . . . Dirk Ellis Volkswagen. Dirk Ellis Volkswagen in Jeffreys Bay took pole position at the recent 2017 Volkswagen Grand Prix Awards held in Johannesburg taking six of seven possible awards in their category, Category C. The awards, themed Make Magic Happen, honour the hard work of the Volkswagen Dealer Network who never cease in their endeavours to make Volkswagen the reputable brand that it is. With 18 award categories and over 100 winners, the event acknowledged and rewarded the dealers who performed at their highest level and led the way for the rest to follow. Dealer Principal Jacques Herselman received the sought-after Gold Pin Award. Herselman boasts an admirable 11 years of operational excellence in the Volkswagen Brand. He was recognised for true leadership, inspirational achievements and being a role model in the dealer network. Dirk Ellis Junior walked away with the coveted Best New Vehicle Sales Manager Award - his fourth award in five years.

Their recipe for success? Hard, honest work. And strong family values. Werner Olivier was named the Best MasterCars Sales Manager, while Paul Kotze was received the Best Group Parts Manager Award. Johan van Rensburg took home the Mastercars Sales Executive Award. Sonnette Liebenberg missed the Customer Service Index (CSI) Award by a fraction of a percentage. The dealership furthermore scooped the Club of Excellence Award. This award rewards Dealer Principals leading the field in customer satisfaction, new vehicle sales, MasterCars sales, Volkswagen financial services and parts sales. Their recipe for success? “Hard, honest work,” says Herselman. “And strong family values. We are not mere workers at Dirk Ellis, we are a family, and thus strong focus is placed on promoting a family culture at work, instead of a corporate culture.”

More than R50 000 in fines issued ABOUT 350 vehicles were stopped and inspected during a joint clamp-down operation by Kouga Municipality and other law enforcement agencies on Thursday last week. The operation took place at the R102 entrance to Jeffreys Bay behind the Fountains Mall between 07:00 and 12:00. The team consisted of municipal and provincial traffic officers, the Public Transport Inspectorate from the provincial Department

of Roads and Transport and the Police. A total of 348 vehicles were stopped during the five-hour operation and 38 fines were issued, totalling R51 300. Community Services Portfolio Councillor Daniel Benson said road transgressions varied from driving without a licence and overloading to general punishable car defects. There were also hefty fines for vehicles transporting members of the public, including taxis and buses, with offences such as driving

IDP meeting for Ward 5 AN additional public meeting has been scheduled for Ward 5 to discuss Kouga Municipality’s draft IDP and budget for the new financial year. Kouga Mayor Horatio Hendricks said the meeting will take place at the Kruisfontein

Community Hall at 18:00 on Monday, May 28. “We would like to thank everyone who participated in the community consultation meetings these past four weeks. Your inputs have been of great value,” he said.

without an operating licence permit, driving without a public driver’s permit (PDP) and driving without a licence being registered. About eight public transport vehicles were slapped with fines of R1500 for being without operating licence permits. Municipal traffic officials opened 16 of the cases, with a cash value of R13 300. They also executed warrants of arrest amounting to R2 600, with drivers opting to pay on the spot to avoid arrest.

Benson praised the law enforcement team for the coordination of the clamp-down and warned motorists that they would not relent. “Our interest is the safety of all road users. We will gather all resources at our disposal and, together with our partners, we will work to secure our roads,” he said. Benson said the fines were a means of discouraging lawlessness. He appealed to motorists to be more responsible and to consider the impact of their transgressions on other road users.

THE annual dry period at Hankey and Patensie has been scheduled for June 16 to July 1 this year. The dry period takes place every year when the Gamtoos Irrigation Board performs maintenance on the canal system which supplies water from the Kouga Dam to these towns. Kouga Infrastructure and Engineering Portfolio Councillor Freddy Campher said strict water restrictions were already in place for both Hankey and Patensie due to the prolonged drought. “The level of the Kouga Dam stood at an alarming 9,24% this week. We would like to call on residents and businesses to curb their water usage even further during the dry period.” He said the water supply to Hankey was usually augmented with water from the Klein River but that the river level was currently too low because of the drought. “This means there will be times when there will be no water in the taps for domestic use. We will, however, be trucking in water to assist households, as we have done in previous years.” He said the Irrigation Board’s balancing dam would be used to provide water for Patensie, but that water tankers would also be at the ready for those times that the dam might have to be closed as part of the maintenance programme.

’n Ge-

GARDEN ROUTE NATIONAL PARK

Construction of entrance gate well underway CONSTRUCTION of the multi-million entrance gate to the Tsitsikamma section of the Garden Route National Park - Storms River Rest Camp - is well underway after slight delays since its inception in 2016. Hiccups in the project came after a hired company could not complete the task on time due to unforeseen circumstances. The renovation of the park’s gate aims to introduce a streamlined structure and system for visitors entering the main gate. Once completed, visitors will enter and exit the park more efficiently. There will be four lanes to enter the park and two to exit. “This week a company was subcontracted to complete roofing. Roofing will take a month to complete and once done, paving and tar will get underway,” says Nandi Mgwadlamba.

“Glass doors and windows were also installed this week. At this rate, we are confident the project will be completed by spring.” Acting Area Manager, Obed Maluwa, expressed his gratitude to the continued support received from visitors and tour operators during the construction process. “During the 2017/2018 financial year the park received a 12% increase in the number of visitors - a clear indication of the love visitors have for the park. We remain grateful for this.” ) The Tsitsikamma section’s project began in 2016 as part of a R19 million project to upgrade to infrastructure in the Storms River Rest Camp, and includes the development around the Big Tree. The funds were granted by the Expanded Public Infrastructure Programme (EPIP) and National Department of Tourism.

ST FRANCIS BAY: SEA VISTA PRIMARY SCHOOL

Wanted: Gently used sports equipment PAM Golding and SuperSpar in St Francis Bay appeal to all residents to donate their gently used sports equipment to Sea Vista Primary School. Whether it is a soccer ball or a wetsuit, or even a tennis racquet, all sports equipment are welcome. “The important role that sport can play in children’s lives is recognised at the school, but there is no money available for kit and equipment,” says Richard Arderne from Pam Golding. “Hence this appeal.” The main sports at the school include tennis and athletics for both the boys and girls. Additional sports for the boys include soccer, rugby and cricket. The girls can play

sports such as basketball and hockey. Some learners are learning to surf. The school is home to 450 learners between the ages of five and thirteen, and only have nine teachers. “The Sea Vista Educational Fund is currently funding an additional teacher, and also has 16 volunteers assisting with language skills,” says Arderne. Sports equipment - soccer balls, rugby balls, netball balls, tennis racquets, boots, wetsuits, surfboards and cricket bats - can be dropped off at St Francis Bay SuperSpar or Pam Golding in St Francis Bay before May 31. For more information, contact Arderne at 083 284 0168.

ARE TIRED OF FALSE PROMISE FROM OTHER HEALER COME TO PROF SURPRISE AM A MINOR FROM TIMOTHY VALLEY, PORT ELIZABETH

I have been suffering since 2015 when my husband was shot dead by gangsters, he was the bread winner. I was only depending on social grant . It was too little to look after my kids. I tried to look for work but I was only getting piece jobs, I was getting boyfriends but they only wanted to sleep with me, no one wanted to marry me. I tried severall healers but they were giving me false hope and many empty promises but my friend told me about prof surprise. I went to his miracle centre. He told me about my past and present and future. Everything he said was true, he told me that the previous healers were weak they couldn/t manage to take away the bad luck on me, that is why they failed. He performed specials prayers to stop bad luck. Then he deposited millions in my account in just few minutes also he gave me love powder to get lover of my choice am happily married and am nancially stable. Thanks prof for making me a millionair.
