This advice shifted my attitude towards commitment to physical activity, exercise, and healthy living. The ‘secret’ my friend shared with me was consistency and commitment. She had started and stuck to a healthy lifestyle for several months. I am glad my
family member reminded me of this. When we adopt a healthy lifestyle and purpose to be active especially when our goal is to lose excess weight or maintain a healthy weight, there are no two ways about it. We have to commit. So, as we continue with 2022, let us
commit to moving more, and plan to do it for a lifetime. Wouldn’t it be nice to be 80 years old and still be up and about! A healthy life starts today at whatever age we are at. Let us purpose to be more physically active and eat healthy foods. Have an active and healthy year!
A different kind of birthday… By Linnette Leyi This year, Kenyatta National Hospital Board Member Dr. Stanley Kamau Maina, EBS chose to celebrate his 53rd birthday in a rather different way. He spent the day at KNH Pediatric Oncology ward 1E where he shared gifts from himself, his friends, and his family with patients in the ward. During the long stays, their utilities run out and at times their family members are unable to visit. In such cases, the children rely on the ward staff to provide for them. “Thanks to well-wishers and donors, we have been able to assist our children with these basics,” said Beatrice Amadi while receiving the donations. She also thanked the management for the prompt provision of medication to the patients. Dr. Kamau also paid NHIF funds for six of the admitted children. “Some of them come from needy backgrounds and are unable to shoulder the costs of treatment because they do not have NHIF medical cover. With this, they can receive treatment without worrying too much about huge medical bills,” he said. The celebration was attended by Dr. Irene Inwani, Senior Director Clinical Services, Dr. Lydia OkutoyiDirector HealthCare Quality, among
