SPECIAL PRAYERS
The school recited special prayers for the safety of the of the hostages and their quick and safe return. Special prayers were also said for the safety of the IDF soldiers. We continue to pray for peace for the State of Israel.
SHORASHIM REPORT BACK
This past July, Jaime Zlotnick and I participated in the Shorashim program exploring our Jewish roots. This year the program took place in Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Bratislava. We started off our trip at a summer camp in Hungary, where we formed lasting friendships with Israeli teenagers. I’m still touched from the last night where we had a talent show and a few Israelis sang a song in a tribute to their friend from the IDF who died in the war. It was so meaningful, and everyone in the room ending up crying and singing along. My favorite part was trying to converse with my new Israeli friends in Hebrew. This has inspired me to take Hebrew as a Matric subject. We also visited the Dohany Street Synagogue, The Memorial of Chatam Sofer, enjoyed a Shabbat dinner with Chabad of Prague and visited the infamous Nazi Ghetto and ‘model camp’ of Theresienstadt. I not only learnt about my Jewish history but also that no matter where you are in the world, when you find another Jew there is always an instant connection! Natasha Weisz (Gr 10)
ELLUL PROGRAM
On Monday Rabbi Rabinowitz gave shiur at break, and this was the first session of the Ellul Program. Different activities and shiurim will be given by the Jewish Studies Department throughout the month of Ellul.

The Parasha begins with the requirement for society to appoint judges and officers of the courttoenforcethedecisionsofthejudges.
Judaism recognises the importance of justice insocietyinorderforcommunitiestosurvive.
Torah places a lot of emphasis on the moral standing of judges. Judges may not accept bribes in any form in order to maintain the integrity of the courts. “Righteousness, righteousness shall you pursue, so that you will live and possess the land that Hashem yourG-dgivesyou.”

ARTS AND CULTURE FESTIVAL
Last year, the highly popular KDVP Annual Arts & Culture Festival did not take place due to 7 October horrific attack in Israel.
This year's event, curated by Dani Wes and Zara Weiner, the newly elected Arts & Culture SRC Officials, supported by their fellow members as well as a whole lot of members of Staff from Facilities and various other Subjects and Departments, boasted a leaner, more streamlined programme aimed at offering something for everyone.Theofferings included Mixed Martial Arts, Inflated Boxing Ring, Motivational interview with Goalie Kaylin Swart from Banyana Banyana, SFX Make-up, Baking, Debating,Dj-ing,Public Speaking, Sandringham Gardens Music and Choir Students' Performance, Best Speaker's Competition, Salt, Pepper and

BAKING CUPCAKES
TenAugust markedthe late Josh Le Roux’s birthday and in commemoration of his love for baking and spirit of kindness we decided to bake 300 cupcakes to donate to charity.
Many students who knew and loved him were involved in all processes: shopping for ingredients, baking
and applying the final coat of purple white or blue icing (Josh’s favourite colours).
Fingertips For Africa collected all 300 cupcakes to put smiles onto the faces of schoolchildren.
