As I take leave of my position at the school, I would like to thank the community for the most wonderful sendoff which I have received. Starting with the moving Matric Valedictory on Thursday evening to the wonderful student Assembly run by the SRC featuring students from Grades 8 to 11 to the beautiful cocktail party given by the SABJE Board and the staff of the High School, these are precious moments and memories which I will truly cherish.
The past nine years working for this community have been rewarding and meaningful for me. We have experienced the highest of highs together and also walked together during some of the saddest and most difficult times. Covid presented us with unbelievable challenges in 2020 and 2021 and we weathered the storm together. I have loved every minute of my time here and will miss this special place more than you realise. I have gotten to know each student who has passed this way and their families.
I have had the honour and the privilege of being the leader of this wonderful family of students, parents and teachers and now, after 9 years of service, it is time for me to move on and take on the next challenge which lies ahead.
To the Community of King David Victory Park I say L’hitraot and not goodbye. Until we meet again, may G-d hold you all in the palm of his hand.
Wishing all of our families a Chag Sukkot Sameach and a good holiday.
Shabbat Shalom

7 OCTOBER
King David High School Victory Park commemorated the horrific massacre that occurred last year in the Otef Aza area, in the south of Israel. With the help of the SRC who ran seven stations, “Nova”, “Hostages”, “Soldiers”, “Kibbutzim”, “Tunnel”, “Discussion”, “Creativity”, the students participated in discussions and activities. They also watched a variety of videos that were carefully chosen to commemorate this event. Rabbi Seeff and Josh Sevitz were our guests on the morning.
DIJE PLUS
The DIJE PLUS prepared an exhibition of experiences, capturing the tragedies of 7 October. The Grade 10 students visited this exhibition and had an enriching experience at the Base, where the exhibition was displayed.

7 OCTOBER
To commemorate the events of 7 October, our students participated in a powerful and meaningful programme which was facilitated by the SRC. In small groups, the students moved through different interactive stations that addressed different aspects of the tragedy that struck Israel on Simchat Torah last year. There was a strong focus on telling our own story, as the Jewish People, and not defining ourselves by what has been done to us. In the face of the ongoing trauma, we continuously remember our enduring resilience which has allowed our nation to survive and thrive for thousands of years. The maturity with which the students approached this important day has filled us with pride in our next generation at KDHSVP.
FROM THE RABBI
YOM KIPPUR Fast begins: 17:54 Fast Ends: 18:45
Yom Kippur message 2024
Torah is considered an “inheritance” for the Jewish people. In Hebrew there are two words for “inheritance”. One is “nachalah” and the other is “morasha”. A “nachalah” is something you inherit and you can use as you see fit. A “morasha” is different. This is a heritage that has been passed down to you and cannot be tampered with. It is something that must be preserved intact so that it can be passed down to future generations. Torah is compared to this type of inheritance.
As we approach Yom Kippur, we need to become more aware of our responsibility regarding our role in passing down our wonderful heritage to future generations.

DIJE PLUS—365 INTERACTIVE MUSEUM
The Grade 10s visited the immersive DIJE Plus exhibit, commemorating the devastating atrocities in Israel and their global impact on the Jewish Nation. We walked through the remarkable and emotion-provoking exhibits while being guided by an audio. Each exhibit revealed harrowing events, personal narratives, and the enduring spirit of the Jewish People. This powerful experience educated and inspired us, fostering empathy, solidarity, and pride in our shared heritage. The DIJE Plus VP students feel proud of their role in bringing this exhibit to life. We are grateful for the opportunities to strengthen our connection and understanding of our homeland.
