THE GIGLIO FAMILY

Pets

northshorehumane.org Marissa Giglio and her family who love to foster dogs and do volunteer work for the Northshore Humane Society. The family often has up to four or six foster dogs at any given time, in addition to the five dogs they own—one of which is a special-needs rescue puppy that they recently adopted. Fostering is a great way of helping overwhelmed shelters by giving them more space and time to get special-needs and high-risk pets homed first. This way they can still prioritize the health and safety of all their adoptees. It’s also a great way of socializing the pups with your dogs and other people, making them even more appealing to potential forever homes. The Northshore Humane Society is located at 20384 Harrison Ave, Covington, and is always looking for people to help foster animals. Marissa and her family are often asked how people can go about being a foster family, and how they can adopt. “Hopefully, this will be a great way to spread the word!” If you’re interested in fostering, adopting, or simply sharing the idea with family and friends, you can visit the Northshore Humane Society at their website www.northshorehumane.org. 26 | The Sanctuary Living
