“I believe it shouldn’t be hard to find high-quality care for your ear, nose, throat, and allergy issues. I understand what it is like to go from provider to provider and still not find relief. That’s why I created a high-quality, spa-like clinic to help everyone put allergy suffering and ENT issues behind them.”

• STAY HYDRATED
With the summer heat, it’s easy to get dehydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you’re active outdoors. Try carrying a reusable water bottle to remind yourself to sip regularly.
• PROTECT YOUR SKIN
Always apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30, even on cloudy days. Reapply every two hours and after swimming or sweating. Don’t forget areas like your ears, neck, and the back of your hands.
• EXERCISE SAFELY
While summer is great for outdoor activities, it’s important to take it easy on hot days. Opt for early
mornings or evenings when temperatures are cooler. And always listen to your body—if you’re feeling dizzy or overheated, take a break.
• STAY SAFE IN THE WATER
Whether swimming, boating, or paddleboarding, always prioritize safety. Wear life jackets when necessary, and never swim alone. Practice good water hygiene to prevent infections.
• WATCH OUT FOR ALLERGIES
Summer pollen can trigger allergies. If you’re prone to seasonal allergies, talk to your doctor about medication or other ways to manage symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, and congestion.
Most seasonal allergies can be managed with home remedies or over-the-counter meds, but severe cases may require more treatment. From severe congestion to fever, our expert team provides fast, effective treatment with onsite lab services to get you feeling better quickly.

Rose, lovingly known as Doodle, has been the heart of the Andrews family since May 2017. Lauren explains that she was named Rose when she became a member of the Andrews home, but “These days, she answers to both names, although we’re pretty sure she thinks ‘Doodle’ is her legal name. Either way, she wears it proudly!”
Initially, the Andrews were told Rose was a miniature schnauzer; however, her first vet visit revealed that she was likely a schnoodle, with some physical characteristics that are more common to poodles. Regardless, it doesn’t matter to the Andrews because they were already smitten. “So… schnoodle? Maybe. Perfect? Definitely. Whatever her mix, she’s absolutely one of a kind, and we wouldn’t change a thing.”
Now 8 years old, Rose is an integral part of the Andrews’ lives and the heart of their home. Her blend of sweetness and spunk captured their hearts. Her playful energy may have taken a little time initially, but once it did, this little ball of liveliness was full-speed ahead. Her loving nature has always been a constant, however.
At just 11 pounds, Rose is the epitome of adorable with her soft, light brown fur and hazel-brown eyes; she easily melted the Andrews’ hearts. With a teddy bear-like appearance, she’s often described as a living, breathing stuffed animal. But beneath her adorable exterior is a sassy little boss, always ready to claim her spot in the family.
Not a fan of early mornings, she’s full of life by midday, eagerly awaiting her walks and watching her territory. Rose also has a special place in the family’s routine, especially when greeting her favorite person, Blake. The devotion between them is undeniable, from her joyous leaps into his arms to sitting quietly beside him while he reads his devotional in the evening
Rose’s personality is charming, from her intense love for her family to her quirky habits, like her excitement over DoorDash deliveries–she once did a backflip in celebration. She also tends to go on solo adventures, such as trotting beside a jogger, like it was her morning jog too.
Unfortunately, last August, Rose was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and is now in the early stages of heart failure. Despite this, she continues to bring joy to her people, receiving medication to support her heart. Regardless of her heart issues, Doodle maintains her affectionate, spunky demeanor.
Rose may be small, but she exudes BIG love, and her presence makes every moment brighter. She’s more than just a pet—she’s family, and the Andrews family treasures every moment with their beloved Doodle.
A dog’s nose is a window to their world. They have millions of scent receptors. Sniffing around and taking in new scents is like yoga for dogs. Letting your dog sniff freely reduces stress and helps them relax.
Although letting them out in the backyard is good, nothing will replace the excitement of
a walk with new smells! (Do you want to look at the same social media post EVERY time you open your phone? Didn’t think so!)
So lace up and support your dog’s overall happiness and well-being with an outside adventure. I will see you out there.
At a private clinic like ours, you’re not just a number. We know your dog’s name, their favorite treat, and that they hate mornings. No corporate scripts here. Just real conversations, real medicine, and the same trusted team every time.
At VetNaturally, we don’t rush you in and out; we give you time, answers, and a plan that actually fits your pet. With advanced tools, Eastern wisdom, Western science, rehab, skin care, and even a dog spa, we offer personalized care under one roof. Bottom line? We treat your pet like they are ours because here, they kinda are.

As the heat of Southeast Louisiana settles in during May and June, it’s smart to choose annuals that can handle the summer sun and humidity. With the proper care, these flowers can thrive and add vibrant color to your garden throughout the season.
• PLANT HEAT-TOLERANT ANNUALS: This is the time to plant varieties that thrive in the summer sun and the humidity.
• Some great choices include:
• Periwinkle (Vinca) – They LOVE heat and drought, and are great for borders.
• Zinnias – These are not only colorful but also easy to care for. Just give them sun and good air circulation.
• Marigolds – Blooming in bright colors like yellows, oranges, reds, and gold, the marigold is a nice way to brighten a bed or a container. And they are also pest-repelling.
• Coleus – Beautiful foliage, the coleus is great for shade or part-sun areas.
• Portulaca (Moss Rose) – A low-growing, drought-tolerant, and vibrantcolored flower that blooms all summer. It also does well in hot spots.
• CARING FOR YOUR ANNUALS
• Water deeply and early: Annuals need consistent moisture, especially those in containers. Plan to water them early in the morning to help reduce evaporation and fungal risk.
• Deadhead regularly: Pinch off faded flowers to encourage more blooms.
• Fertilize every 2–3 weeks: Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer to keep blooms longer.
• Pinch for fuller plants: Pinch back longer-stemmed annuals like petunias early in the season to encourage them to grow thicker and fuller.

• Booking a trip is good for the soul. Summer is a great time to travel. Find a resort with outdoor activities and excursions. Bring a camera and take pictures of the landscapes and the greenery.
• Enjoy outdoor dining. Book a reservation with out door seating, where you can feel the nice breeze and see the sunshine. You can do this for brunch, especially with good company.
• Go for a walk or ride a bike on a trail. Slow down, observe, and connect with nature.
• Personal organizing is so important. A less cluttered home is believed to promote better luck and positive energy flow through the home. Do a little cleaning and then take a hot bubble bath after you’re finished.
• Unplug technology and practice outdoor meditation. Let go of your daily technology hustle and try laying a yoga mat out with a zen playlist, meditate, and take deep breaths. Try this on your patio, yard, or the Lakefront.
• Book a massage or hire a mobile massage therapist to alleviate your aches and pains or help you relax. Setting up a massage by the beach or in a canopy somewhere would maximize your relaxation.
• Practice self-care. Get a vitamin C facial, spray tan, add some highlights to your hair, or shop for new outfits. Be a gift to yourself and reward yourself

For Dr. Von Gruben, pediatric dentistry isn’t just a career, it’s a calling that began began when he was young and has grown into a lifelong passion for serving children and their families.
“I am blessed to work as a pediatric dentist!” he says. “My calling to this profession started when I was a teenager and continued all the way through dental school.” Summers spent framing houses, which nurtured his love of working with his hands, while time as a swim instructor and summer camp counselor revealed a natural connection with kids. “When I got to college, I began working in dental offices, one of which was a pediatric office. That’s when I got my first notion that I was drawn to the pediatric specialty.”
Since opening his practice, Pediatric Dentistry, in 2013, Dr. Von Gruben has worked to create an environment where kids feel safe and supported. “It’s the best feeling when our team can change the impression of a child who was once scared to go to the dentist into an enjoyable experience.”
Alongside him is his wife, Rachel, a dental hygienist and the business administrator who keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. “I couldn’t do this business without my wife, Rachel. It has been a joint dream of ours to make this practice what it is today.”
Dr. Von Gruben feels truly blessed to provide care and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children in the community. He emphasizes, “Every child is treated like they are our own!”

Eli Crosby Homes recently completed a full interior renovation on Eagle Trace, bringing fresh style and refined finishes throughout the home. While every space received thoughtful attention, the transformation of the primary bathroom takes center stage as a lovely blend of function and luxury, crafted with the expert touch of Eli Crosby Homes.
Although the original layout of the primary bathroom was unchanged, the updates transformed the space with elegance. The glass-enclosed shower and free-standing tub were surrounded initially by white tile. Opting for a more luxurious look, Eli and his team installed white porcelain tile that wrapped the wall behind them. The porcelain tile integrated the shower and tub beautifully and added texture, creating a seamless and sophisticated look.
Next, the renovation tackled the flooring. The original floor was composed of white tile in a herringbone pattern. This tile was replaced with a muted grey and cool-toned white checkerboard patterned porcelain floor. The classic checkerboard pattern brings in the space with a neutral, light palette that perfectly fits this home.
Further enhancing the primary bath renovation, the original vanity doors were stripped of deep blue paint and elevated with a rich, custom wood stain for a polished finish. Eli and his team upgraded the vanities’ countertops with Bianco Rhino marble. Known for their creamy white base and soft, elegant veining in warm grey tones, Bianco Rhino marble was the perfect choice to preserve the sophistication in this space. Finally, adding new fixtures tied the look together and gave the bathroom a spa-like appeal.
The finished primary bath is an excellent example of how smart updates and attention to detail can completely change a room, regardless of size. The Eagle Trace primary bathroom’s upgrades create an inviting and beautifully renovated space that highlights the skillful work of Eli Crosby Homes, where quality and craftsmanship come together.
For over 50 years, STARC Louisiana has been changing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Based in St. Tammany Parish, this organization offers a wide range of services, from early intervention programs for children to job training and residential support for adults. Their services promote independence and create opportunities.
STARC’s Mardi Gras bead recycling initiative is one unique and impactful program that generates crucial funds to sustain STARC’s many programs. If you have ever donated Mardi Gras beads to STARC and wondered what became of them, just know that your donation is life-changing for many. STARC participants clean, sort, and repackage thousands of donated beads each year, providing them with hands-on job training and employment opportunities. STARC then sells the repurposed beads to krewes and parade-goers. Not only does this effort support individuals with disabilities, but it also promotes environmental sustainability by reducing parade waste.
At its heart, STARC is about seeing abilities, not limitations. Through life skills training, creative arts programs, and meaningful employment opportunities, the organization helps individuals find purpose and fulfillment. The support of volunteers, donors, and businesses ensures that STARC can continue its mission, making a lasting influence in the community.
Whether donating beads, purchasing repackaged throws, or spreading the word, every small effort helps STARC provide opportunities for those it serves.
