“I believe it shouldn’t be hard to find high-quality care for your ear, nose, throat, and allergy issues. I understand what it is like to go from provider to provider and still not find relief. That’s why I created a high-quality, spa-like clinic to help everyone put allergy suffering and ENT issues behind them.”

Allergy testing identifies allergies, that can cause allergies.
A skin prick test or blood test are common allergy tests. The results can help diagnose allergies and help you take steps to manage allergy symptoms. We offer toothpaste and/or drops great for kids or someone that can’t get into the office for weekly shot therapy.

Human Performance is more than a gym; it’s a mission in motion. What began as owner CJ Bernius’ personal journey as a young wrestler hungry for self-improvement has evolved into a thriving community centered on health, discipline, and growth. After earning his degree in Fitness and Human Performance, CJ set out to create a space that would challenge the traditional gym model’s status quo.
The foundation for Human Performance originated from a realization. “I saw cafes selling fried chicken, trainers who lacked discipline themselves, and outdated equipment collecting dust on lifeless fitness floors. It became clear—we needed something better,” CJ declared. Human Performance is something better.
Offering 24-hour access, Human Performance also features group fitness classes and personalized training programs that cater to members at every level of fitness.
What sets Human Performance apart, however, is the atmosphere, which incorporates a team united in leadership and a space where everyone feels supported and inspired.

Anative of the Southshore, Shelley Richardson recalls how she discovered The Sanctuary in a moment of serendipity. “I had never heard of The Sanctuary before aimlessly taking a drive searching for lots for sale to build our dream home.” As fate would have it, the lot she fell in love with was owned by HJ Crosby Construction, family friends from years ago. That unexpected connection helped rekindle a close friendship between the two families, making their move feel all the more meaningful.
Shelley’s dream home would come to fruition in 2018 as a peaceful retreat away from her demanding job as Assistant Vice President at Merrill Lynch in New
Orleans. Her lovely retreat would beautifully grow into a lively household in 2019 when her daughter Leah was born, followed by Savvanah two years later.
Leah and Savannah are quite the opposites! Leah loves art and coloring, while Savannah thrives outdoors. Both girls enjoy swimming and are members of the Sanctuary Sharks swim team. They also enjoy taking gymnastics at Northshore Gymnastics. Leah will be going into 1st grade in the fall at Pontchartrain Elementary, and Savannah will be in preK at Cedarwood School.
The Richardson’s favorite spot is their backyard, where they spend a great deal of their time. “It really

lives up to the meaning of The Sanctuary,” Shelley shares, adding, “We enjoy watching the deer in our backyard every day.” And since building a pool, it’s where they find themselves most often.
Inside their home, Shelley’s favorite space is her “glam hunting room,” originally designed to showcase her taxidermy and host guests. To make the space more personal and feminine, she and her girls created a large custom art piece through The Grey Collaborative by Abigail Reller Art. “If you look closely,” she says, “you can see all of our handprints.”
When the Richardsons aren’t enjoying their home, they’re often on the go. Favorite getaways include visiting grandparents in Destin and Palm Beach. “My girls are well-seasoned travelers—whether it’s by car, boat, or plane,” Shelley shares. Closer to home, they love family dinners at The Anchor, where the girls can play while enjoying the waterfront view, and breakfast at Liz’s Where Y’at Diner is always a favorite weekend treat.
Shelley, Leah, Savannah, and Fin, their British Lab and VIP family member, love living in The Sanctuary. They are grateful for the everyday charm of their neighborhood, including neighbors who are like
To style the interiors of her home, Shelley worked closely with her godmother, Lesle Veca, owner of k
family, golf cart rides to friends’ homes, the Sanctuary Sharks, and the neighborhood gatherings that bring neighbors together and foster a sense of community.
Shelley frequents The Denim Bar and V Home & Interiors, while Leah and Savannah are just beginning to like browsing at Blossom Girl; however, for now, Target remains their top choice for shopping.
From school days and swim meets to backyard adventures and traveling, Shelley and her girls stay busy. Surrounded by a close-knit community and a peaceful natural setting, they have found their little slice of heaven on earth in The Sanctuary.
Winston McIntyre, the McIntyre’s Maltipoo plays an important role in their family. At four years old, Winston has been the heart of his family since he arrived at just eight weeks old.
Loving and quite charming, Winston became a part of the McIntyre family by chance. One day while walking into Whole Foods, Amy encountered a lady with an adorable puppy. Amy’s immediate connection to the puppy led to an exchange of information, ultimately leading to Winston, the last puppy of his litter. It didn’t take too long for Winston to nestle himself smack in the middle of the McIntyre’s home and hearts.
Chosen for his hypoallergenic coat, lovable temperament, and cute self, Winston has proven to be everything his family hoped for and more. He’s very smart and responds to countless words, including the names of his favorite people. “If we mention my parents or my mother-in-law are coming over, he runs to the door and starts crying with excitement,” Amy shares.
Winston also knows the names of his toys. He will fetch Larry the Lobster or his tiger on command! He’s also a loyal car companion, especially for school drop-offs and PJ’s pup cup runs. He’s never met a stranger he didn’t want to hug. Oh, and Winston is always looking to make new friends and would love a playdate with some sweet, furry Sanctuary neighbors.
Though he loves everyone, Winston’s bond with his mama is unmatched. He’s her constant companion and bedtime snuggle buddy, following her like a loyal shadow. Whether he’s lounging on the back of the sofa with his head resting on a shoulder or tucked under it for a midday nap, Winston is always close by.
If you happen to spot an 11-pound ball of fluff riding shotgun, ordering a pup cup at PJ’s, there is a good chance it is Winston McIntyre. Flag him down and give him a hug. He will be expecting it, and will reciprocate in kind!
Because dogs deserve to thrive all year long, especially in flip-flop season. As temps rise and we all start living our best sun-kissed lives, don’t forget your furry best friend has their own summer needs. Here are a few holistic, vet-approved tips to keep pets healthy, hydrated, and happy all season long:
1. Moisture-Rich Diets Are a Must
Dry food + summer heat = increased risk of dehydration, kidney strain, and itchy skin. Add moisture-rich foods like lightly cooked meats, steamed vegetables, and bone broth (or a vegan mineral broth if you’re plant-based).
2. Protect the Paws
Hot pavement can burn your pet’s paws fast. Walk early morning or evening, and if it’s too hot for your feet, it’s too hot for theirs. Paw balms with natural oils, such as shea or calendula, can help soothe and protect.
3. Cool from the Inside Out
According to Chinese Medicine, dogs can become energetically overheated. Cooling foods like cucumber, watermelon (just a bite!), and white fish can help balance the fire element.
Bonus: Book a Summer Wellness Session
Holistic check-ins during seasonal transitions can help catch early imbalances. Acupuncture, food therapy, and herbal support keep your pet glowing through the hottest days.
4. Prevent Overheating
Skip midday walks, provide shade, and never leave pets in cars. Even 4 minutes can be deadly. A cooling mat or frozen treat toy is a great way to chill them out.
5. Skin & Ear TLC
Ears are just skin with attitude — when the skin is inflamed, the ears flare too. We use custom topicals to boost moisture and maintain balance, keeping things calm from the outside in.
At Cedarwood School, education is a joyful and engaging journey built on a foundation of curiosity, creativity, and relationships. It is this philosophy that carries into every part of the Cedarwood curriculum. With a balance of the benefits of modern technology combined with hands-on, experiential learning, Cedarwood students might be found coding a robot one moment and building a garden bed the next. This thoughtful integration prepares children for a digital future while keeping them grounded in real-world problem-solving.
Another aspect of the Cedarwood experience is a focus on leadership. Creating leaders is nurtured at every stage, from classroom jobs in early childhood to student-led conferences and service projects in the middle school. Seventh graders assume meaningful roles as campus leaders, practicing teamwork, communication, and community involvement with enthusiasm and purpose.
That same spirit of shared responsibility extends to Cedarwood’s relationship with families. A strong partnership between school and home is at the core of its culture. Parents are not only welcomed but also encouraged to actively participate. Whether reading in classrooms, chaperoning field trips, or working alongside teachers, families help strengthen the sense of community that defines Cedarwood School.
Emotional wellness is equally prioritized. With the guidance of counselor Georgia Krieger, M.A., PLPC, students receive social-emotional support through individual counseling, group sessions, and classroom lessons that promote empathy, resilience, and selfconfidence. Words like kindness and responsibility underscore the school’s emphasis on character development.
What surprises most new families about Cedarwood? The optimistic energy that fills each day. From outdoor recesses to meaningful classroom discussions, Cedarwood cultivates a love of learning while fostering a sense of belonging.
Above all, Cedarwood excels at helping students understand how they learn, not just what to learn. This awareness is the key to building confidence and the capability to confront any obstacle.
Cedarwood School is more than an education; it’s a foundation for life.
In Southeast Louisiana, even shaded areas in July and August can still reach air temperatures of 95–100°F. The heat index can soar to 105–115°F because of the humidity. Even in full shade, there often isn’t any relief. Soil temperatures can get to and stay at around 85–90°F. This puts stress on plants. Here are a few things you can try to keep your garden from perishing in these oppressivly hot months.
• Water Your Grass EVERY day
• Grass will burn up from the heat but watering daily will keep it green and lush.
• Shade Cloth and Row Covers Aren’t Just for Cold Weather (Your gardens will thank you.)
• Drape lightweight shade cloth (30–40%) stakes or garden frames to create a canopy over your flowers. Place it so it blocks the strongest afternoon sun, but still allows air circulation.
• For added benefit, water the soil under the shade in the early morning. This will help the plants stay hydrated longer.
• Shade Cloths are great to use for plants that will easily suffer from sun scorch or wilt in that intense midday heat like impatiens, begonias, hydrangeas, and newly transplanted perennials.
• Group Heat-Loving Flowers Together
• Plant sun-tolerant varieties together to help reduce water competition, and it makes care easier.
• Some varieties that do well in the heat are vinca, lantana, zinnia, and celosia. They do well even in the hottest spots.
• Collect and Store Rainwater
• A summer rain barrel setup is beneficial for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that plants love it.
• It’s Naturally Soft and free of salts, minerals, and chemicals.
• It’s Slightly Acidic which helps plants absorb nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium more efficiently. This is especially beneficial in Southeast Louisiana’s often alkaline or compacted soils.
• It Contains Natural Nutrients. As rain falls through the air, it picks up trace nutrients like nitrogen. This is a key ingredient for leafy green growth.
• It Helps Flush Soil. Rainwater is pure and helps to clean out excess salt and chemical residue that may have collected from fertilizers and hard water. Getting rid of these impurities keeps your soil healthy and balanced.
** A word of caution regarding rain barrels: When water is collected in high heat it can become a mosquito breeding ground. To prevent this, use a screened lid and empty it every few days if it’s not used.

The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) has supported American soldiers since its founding in 1950. A voice for active-duty troops, AUSA has become a nationwide organization that champions the needs of all Army-connected individuals, including veterans, reserve members, and military families. The AUSA New Orleans chapter symbolizes this mission with a local touch.
With over 270,000 veterans in Louisiana, AUSA NOLA serves as a bridge between the military and civilian communities. The AUSA NOLA chapter hosts events like the Annual Army Birthday Ball, a patriotic celebration that honors Army tradition while bringing together service members, veterans, and supporters in unity and gratitude.
Beyond celebration, AUSA NOLA is dedicated to results. The chapter awards annual scholarships to deserving students, many of whom are veterans or military dependents. These scholarships help offset
educational costs while recognizing the leadership potential of the next generation.
Understanding the challenges of military-tocivilian transitions, AUSA NOLA actively partners with local and national organizations to connect veterans with job opportunities, housing resources, and mental health support. The chapter also leads community outreach, engaging schools, businesses, and civic groups to foster greater awareness and appreciation for military service.
At its core, AUSA NOLA is about service, not just to soldiers, but to the entire Louisiana community. The chapter honors the Army’s legacy through advocacy, education, and hands-on involvement while building a stronger and connected future.
In a time when national unity and support for the military are more critical than ever, AUSA NOLA continues to benefit those who serve, reminding us that supporting our soldiers is a shared responsibility.

For Emma Rosenfeld, walking across the graduation stage at Tulane University went by in the blink of an eye. One moment she was anxiously waiting, the next she held her diploma, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Interactive Digital Design and a minor in graphic design.
Emma’s connection to Tulane began long before college; she spent summers on campus as a young girl attending the former Ripples camp. “Tulane was just a natural transition for me when it came time to look at colleges, and getting my degree through the School of Professional Advancement was just a major plus,” she shares. Although her degree took longer than expected, Emma says her journey at Tulane introduced her to people from diverse backgrounds and provided a lasting learning experience.
Emma’s passion for design was shaped by hands-on classes and inspiring faculty. Packaging Design, Motion Design, and the “dreaded” capstone course stand out most. From mocktail labels to marketing campaigns for New Voices New Orleans, she brought creativity and strategy
together in meaningful ways.
Balancing evening classes with life wasn’t easy, but Emma found time for what mattered. Monthly dinners with her best friend kept her grounded, while her mom, her biggest cheerleader and unofficial creative advisor, was always ready with feedback and encouragement.
Although she will miss her professors and classmates, Emma is looking forward to working full-time with her parents, Melinda and Kerry Kirby, at 365 Connect. She will also be doing some freelancing, “just to keep the fun, creative spark alive.” For now, she is looking forward to enjoying a muchdeserved break and catching up on some TV.
When Emma’s not designing, you’ll find her baking, exploring local coffee shops, or hanging with her opinionated pups. Involving herself by giving back, she shares, “I love supporting local nonprofits that uplift people and tell important stories—because to me, design and community go hand in hand.” That statement perfectly echoes the direction of Emma’s next chapter.
