The grand opening will be on Friday, November 28, at 6:00 p.m. with a live concert by Macon Pops. From that night on, the light shows will run nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., starting at the top of each hour. The lights will remain on without music from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The event is completely free and open to the public.
THE UNIQUE SOUND OF MACON POPS

The goal is clear: to transform Central Georgia's first impression by welcoming executives and investors to a state-of-the-art facility that celebrates local culture.

A crowd of residents and officials gathered to witness the event, which represents the largest demolition to date under the downtown revitalization initiative. This action is a key component of "Operation Reawaken," the program championed by Mayor LaRhonda Patrick to eliminate blight, strengthen neighborhoods, and promote economic development. "This is more than a demolition, it’s a reawakening,” stated Mayor Patrick. “We are paving the way for a walkable, vibrant, and thriving downtown we can all be proud of.” In addition to the demolition, the event celebrated the city's future with the presentation of a new sculpture. The piece was created by students from Central Georgia Technical College and Houston and Peach County schools, adding a touch of community artistry to the renewal project.

The good news is that MBCTA is voluntarily expanding its service radius to a full mile from fixed bus routes, exceeding the federal requirement to offer greater mobility. The hard reality, however, is that in redrawing the map, some addresses will now fall outside the new official zone and will no longer be eligible for
transportation. With the deadline fast approaching, all paratransit users are urged to contact MBCTA to confirm if their address remains within the coverage area. The agency has stated it will assist affected passengers in exploring other available transportation options.

After years of delays and perseverance, Warner Robins has opened its first full-service homeless shelter. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Haven Hope House was held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at its location on 79 Greene Street.

INAUGURATION EVENT DETAILS
THE CEREMONY ON OCTOBER 17TH WAS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND WAS FOLLOWED BY TOURS OF THE FACILITY. TO FACILITATE ATTENDANCE, THE HAPPY HOUR SERVICE CENTER PROVIDED COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM ITS LOCATION AT 802 SOUTH YOUNG AVE.

Aunque comenzó como un refugio diurno, Haven Hope House también funcionará como un centro de calentamiento en invierno cuando las temperaturas caigan por debajo de los 32 grados. Although it began as a day shelter, Haven Hope House will also serve as a warming center in the winter when temperatures drop below 32 degrees. Brian Wise, the shelter's supervisor, emphasized that hot meals will be available to anyone in need, not just residents. "If they need a meal, we’re not going to turn them away. We’ll feed them," Wise stated. Visitors also have access to showers, a clothing closet, computers, and job training.

As Thanksgiving Day winds down and families finish their holiday feasts, a different kind of excitement will begin to build in the heart of Moultrie. On the evening of Thursday, November 27th, the community will gather for one of its most cherished traditions: the annual “Lights!
Lights!” celebration, which transforms the historic downtown square into a dazzling winter wonderland.
The event, which has been a local institution since the 1930s, marks the official kickoff of the Christmas season in Colquitt County. The festivities are set to begin at 4:00 PM as
downtown shops and restaurants open their doors for holiday shoppers. The main event, however, takes place at 6:00 PM sharp, when the switch is flipped and the magnificent “Canopy of Lights” bursts to life, bathing the courthouse square in a breathtaking glow.
What began in 1933 with just 400 lights has evolved into a nationally recognized spectacle, earning the title of Georgia’s “Premier Special Event” in 2022 from the Georgia Downtown Association.
Families are invited to make an evening of it, as the celebration is packed with activities
for all ages. Santa Claus himself will make a special appearance to visit with children, and the magic will be enhanced by the presence of live reindeer. For younger attendees, pony rides and a festive train will also be available.
