Piedmont Macon inaugura su Departamento de Emergencias Obstétricas
Atención médica especializada disponible las 24 horas para complicaciones prenatales y posparto.
Piedmont Macon Medical Center amplía su compromiso con el cuidado de la maternidad con la apertura de un nuevo Departamento de Emergencias Obstétricas (OB-ED), diseñado específicamente para atender complicaciones inesperadas durante el embarazo y el posparto.
Antes de la implementación de este servicio, una paciente embarazada con alguna emergencia debía acudir al Departamento de Emergencias general, desde donde era trasladada al área de evaluación de parto. Aunque era atendida por enfermeras altamente capacitadas, no siempre era evaluada por un médico durante su visita.
Con el nuevo OB-ED, todas las pacientes con al menos 20 semanas de embarazo que presenten problemas obstétricos serán evaluadas directamente por un médico certificado, disponible en la unidad de forma permanente.
El modelo de atención hospitalaria OB/GYN está en crecimiento a nivel nacional debido a sus beneficios: reduce los retrasos en la atención y mejora los resultados clínicos. Además, el médico hospitalario puede comunicarse directamente con el ginecólogo-obstetra personal de la paciente para asegurar una transición de atención sin interrupciones.

Specialized medical care available 24/7 for prenatal and postpartum complications.
Piedmont Macon Medical Center has expanded its commitment to maternity care with the opening of a new Obstetrics Emergency Department (OB-ED), specifically designed to treat unexpected complications during pregnancy and postpartum.
Before this service was available, a pregnant patient with complications would visit the main Emergency Department and then be transferred to the Labor & Delivery triage area. Although skilled nurses provided care, patients weren’t always seen by a physician.
Now, all patients who are at least 20 weeks pregnant and experiencing obstetrical concerns are evaluated directly by a board-certified physician, available on-site at all times.
OB/GYN hospitalist care is a growing national trend because it reduces delays in treatment and improves patient outcomes. In addition to providing expert care at any time, the hospital doctor can coordinate with the patient’s personal OB-GYN to ensure seamless continuity of care. The OB-ED is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and patients may visit on their own or be referred by their physician.
Piedmont Macon’s Women’s Services Department also features a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), offering advanced care for babies born as early as 23 weeks or those with critical illnesses. The department also provides a variety of maternity and educational services, including free childbirth and lactation classes.

However, specialists warn that this is a myth with no scientific basis. The American College of Obstetricians and

The Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority (UDA) has received a $310,000 grant from the National Park Service to restore the historic DeWitt-McCrary House, located at 320 Hydrolia Street in East Macon.
The funds will be used for masonry repairs, siding repairs, roof repairs, door and window repairs, as well as electrical and HVAC system improvements. This restoration is one of the cornerstone projects for the revitalization of Mill Hill East Macon Arts Village.
“This is a great chance to rejuvenate one of Macon’s oldest buildings,” said UDA Executive Director Alex Morrison. “It will be a capstone project for Mill Hill and serve as a direct link between our past and our future, connecting our history with where we’re going as a community.” The home sits just outside the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park and will be transformed into the new Muscogee Cultural Center, a multi-use cultural facility that strengthens the

Born blind in 1915, Pearly Brown was a street musician from Americus who became one of the first Black artists to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, the legendary Nashville country music stage.
One of the park’s most symbolic design elements will be an entrance shaped like the guitar Pearly Brown used to play, blending cultural memory with thoughtful architecture.
The highlight of the park will be its 35,000-square-foot amphitheater, one of the largest in the region. It will host professional musicians, emerging local talent, and even student performers from nearby colleges.
