Kia Diaz Thankfully Away I chose happiness over drama, my peace over your lies, freedom instead of reporting back to you. No longer are you my jailer. I’m single, happy and safe. Gratefully praying to God and continuing to practice my faith. Proud of myself for walking away and leaving you right where you stand. Dealing with the problems you bring, no longer now because you’re no longer my man. Someone else can deal with your drama and lies, and cry themself to sleep. I’m in a better place without you, so I rejoice and no longer weep. I thank god everyday for giving me the strength to just forget you, move on, and be thankfully away.
Kia Diaz is a sophomore at Bard Microcollege Holyoke graduating with her Associate in Arts in May 2021.
