Mick Cronin Monster Raffle

In Issue 59 back in March, Mick Cronin from Kiskeam was hoping to get to Dun Laoighoire and was making incredible strides in his recovery. We are delighted to report that he made it there and is working as hard as ever so he can return home! A host of fundraisers have been held in the form of Matches for Mick and golf classics, and now his family are in the home stretch. For this home stretch before the presentation in September, Mick’s friends have put together a raffle and Mick’s US friends have generously donated an incredible prize of an all expenses paid trip to Chicago! 5 days and 5 nights in downtown Chicago hotel, $1000 spending money, 2 tickets to a Chicago sport event, and a chauffeur driven trip to Chicagos Gaelic park followed by a meal with the Chicago GAA Community! Other prizes include mini breaks, shopping vouchers, electrical goods and much more! Proceeds go to the Cronin family as they prepare their home for Mick’s return and ensure it is as accessible and comfortable as it can be for Mick. Visit www.idonate.ie/raffle/MickCroninAppeal to enter. Nothing “fishy” going on here... Michael Twohig (pictured right with Thomas Ankettell) celebrated a win at the Eugene Ankettell memorial cup. Well done to all those involved!

Carers Allowance

For the first time in 14 years, changes have been made to the means test for carers. The weekly income limit will increase to €350 per week for single carers, and to €750 a week for couples. The capital disregard for carers will increase from €20,000 to €50,000. With these changes, carers on the reduced rate may qualify for the full rate, and those who have not qualified at all may now be eligible. Contact your local Social Welfare office for more information, or visit the Citizens Information website.

Cork North West TD Michael Moynihan celebrated 25 years early this month. In a Facebook post, he said “It has been an unbelievable privilege, buíochas o chroí , as the saying goes ‘a lot done more to do!’.” Congratulations, and good luck going forward!
