June - Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus By TOM DENNEHY
We celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus this year on Friday, June 24th. This devotion began as a result of the revelations of Jesus to Margaret Mary Alacoque in December 1673 when Jesus revealed to her the wonders of His love for us. He explained to her that He wished to make these wonders known to the entire world and had chosen her to do this work. He requested that she would promote receiving Holy Communion on the First Friday each month, a Holy Hour every Thursday and a feast day celebrating His Sacred Heart. Devotion to the Sacred Heart is one of the most widely practised and well-known devotions, taking the physical heart of Jesus as a symbol of His Divine love for mankind. The devotion especially emphasizes the unconditional love, compassion, and long suffering of the heart of Christ towards humanity. As a result, the picture of the Sacred Heart with the red light burning brightly became visible in every home. The twelve promises attached to devotion to the Sacred Heart are worth noting and are a powerful protection for our homes and our families. It would be wonderful if this practice was restored to all our homes. Jesus made twelve promises to those who hold a true devotion His Sacred Heart. Some of the promises are as follows 1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life. 2. I will give peace to their families and unite families that are divided. 3. I will console them in their troubles. 4. I will bestow the blessing of Heaven on all their enterprises

5. I will bless those places wherein the image of My Heart shall be exposed and honoured and will imprint My love on the heart who wear this image on their person. 6. The greatest promise – I promise you in the excessive mercy of my heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance; they will not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their Sacraments. My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus was pierced by a lance on the cross and out flowed blood and water. This was the birth of God’s Divine love and mercy revealed by Jesus to St. Faustina poured out on all of humanity. Many Eucharistic miracles have taken place around the world. These when examined scientifically prove, it is the living heart of Jesus that is present in the Eucharist. Scientific research has shown that it is living heart tissue, a heart that has suffered severe trauma. See website on Eucharistic miracles created by Blessed Carlo Acutis www. miracolieucaristici.org The Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Heart that has suffered so much for our sake and continues to suffer because of our irreverence and ingratitude. It is a Heart burning with love for us. Let us respond to that amazing and unconditional love.
