The Institute of Micrographics
Once again the Institute of Micrographics will have a presence at the Microfilm Showcase. Chairman Melvyn Draycott will be manning the stand, answering questions and encouraging potential members to fill in the application forms. ‘Introduction to Microfilm’ leaflets will be on the booth along with copies of the latest Institute newsletter. Details of future Institute seminars should also be available so make a point of visiting Melvyn for an informal chat. He will certainly make you welcome and, who knows, you may even learn something. The Institute AGM is to be held at 6pm on Thursday 19th November at the Horticultural Hall after the show closes for the evening. Plasmec Systems (Microphax)
Microphax, the Information Management division of Plasmec Systems, feature their in-house designed and manufactured Casereader portable microfiche and aperture card reader. This reader is subject to a continuous update programme, ensuring that it meets the demands of the market place. As well as the standard readers, Microphax produce customised readers for specialist applications and their personnel will be pleased to discuss particular requirements. Also on show will be the 900 series of desktop readers, including the fibre optic version for use in hazardous areas such as paintshops. Plasmec Systems are the European distributors of the Mekel microform digitisers. Mekel provides a bridge between two previously incompatible technologies — microfilm and electronic storage. The equipment gives high-speed conversion of analogue images held on 16/35mm roll film, jacketed microfilm or microfiche, to electronic storage media. Enquiries will be welcome from prospective agents for the digitisers and other products in the range. The latest version of the user friendly information management system, IMS-2, will be on the stand. IMS-2 is tailored to meet particular applications and interface needs. If you’re coming to town for November’s Microfilm Showcase, you’ll be interested to know that Canon Information Systems are going to town on their stand. Among newcomers to the Canon range on demonstration will be the new MP 60 and MP 90 reader printers. The MP 60 is expected to attract a large audience of visitors curious to see just how well a state-of-the-art desktop reader printer can perform these days. As for the MP 90, its long list of automatic facilities has already won it a large and growing number of friends. Not to be outdone, the MS100 digital table top microprinter will be displaying user-friendly characteristics such as its motorised image rotation, zooming and focussing. And in addition to its own, outstandingly clear print facility, the MS100 to Fax option will also be going through its timesaving paces. The CF 250 desktop electronic filing system is by now an old favourite at these shows. Many a decision to buy one has been made then and there as senior executives watch its almost incredible capacity to whisk through the filing and speed through document retrieval. With it you can see CF-File; Canon’s comprehensive PC application programme for indexing, retrieval, viewing and printing, designed to bring the point of retrieval to your own desk.
