The Asia Champions League 2025 delivered a tournament for the ages. Sixteen elite teams from across the continent—and one from the West—battled for regional dominance, national pride, and a spot at the World Championship. This year, the spotlight also shifted to China, the newest region added to the United Championship Series. Two teams from there entered the fray without organizational backingbutwithsky-highambition.

This interview was done by Dr. Poker with player Rising Ore of IGZIST even before this Organisation signed up Kakigoya Rising
Please give us a little introduction about yourself. What’s your favourite Pokémon?
My name is Rising_ORE and I belong to Kakigoya Rising. I am in charge of carrying in the lower lane. My favorite Pokemon is Golurk.
Congratulations on winning the winter tournament with KakigoyaRising. Tell us about your journey and the difficulties you faced in achieving such a goal.
Thank you, we are very happy. Team KakigoyaRising was formed in October 2024, and we have challenged and won various unofficial tournaments before the Winter Tournament. We were sure that we would win the tournament at this rate, but one week before the tournament, our main member, Rising_um, got sick and Rising_Bi, our reserve member, had to compete in the tournament. We had only one week to practice, but we had no problem because we trusted each other. I feel very relieved about that now.
Now that you have qualified for the ACL Finals in Japan, which team would you most like to play against? Why?
I would like to play against FENNEL, the Japanese team that won the World Championships in the last WCS in 2024. The reason for this is that I consider Mashio, who is also a lower lane carry player, as my rival and I want to surpass him sooner or later.
This interview was done by Dr. Poker with player Rising Ore of IGZIST even before this Organisation signed up Kakigoya Rising
Currently, we have seen over 200 teams registered for the Winter tournament. why do you think the Japanese community has such a large number? Do you think it will grow more in the future?
Pokemon is a game that originated in Japan and is a nationally popular content. What follows is my personal opinion. In Japan, MOBA games like “LoL” have been difficult to get into because of the long game time, but I think that the cute appearance of Pokemon and the easy game time of 10 minutes are one of the reasons why Pokemon is so popular in Japan.
We will have the new 500-point match mode within the next few months. Why Would you see this as an important development for the game? What other things do you think could help the community grow?
I believe that in 500-point match mode, early advantage is important in this game, and if more teams become aware of how to win in the early stages because of this, it will improve the overall level of the game. On the other hand, I hope that the game will not become a game of collecting points only without fighting, called goal macro.
The March Cup of the Unite Championship Series (UCS) wrapped up on March 29th and 30th, bringing fans another weekend of epic clashes, surprise upsets, and dominant performances. With only three more events remaining before the World Championships 2025 in Anaheim, tensions are rising as teams around the globe battle for their shot at glory.
The Oceania region saw a familiar lineup on the final day, including Natu’s Revenge, Antic x Odium, Bruff Esports, and Wildfire Monsters.
Bruff Esports and Natu’s Revenge clashed in an elimination thriller. But it was Wildfire Monsters’ time to shine as they eliminated Bruff in the Loser Finals and earned a shot at revenge against Antic x Odium in the Grand Finals.
Despite their momentum, Wildfire couldn’t overcome Antic x Odium, who clinched a 2-1 victory, securing their third straight OCE title and fourth win this UCS season—a dominant streak.
The European bracket was full of drama from the start. Plus Ultra was disqualified from their Top 8 qualification match for undisclosed reasons. In a poetic twist, Sareyu’s Generation Miracle—a new roster—fell to his former team Komai Esports, then were also DQ'd in the Loser Bracket
Expected Top 9 Teams like Absolute Cinema, Los Duros, and Les Flocons Dormeurs all underperformed, missing even the Top 16.
But the Loser Bracket brought surprises:
● BH3 Esports, 0-2 Kings, and April Foolers clawed their way back into Day 2.
● Nouns, Gen 5, Los Caducados, and Redmoon x ANLAHA rounded out the remaining top contenders.
The Brazilian bracket was on fire from start to finish. Tuzzy Esports, Aegis Flames, Trupe do Auau, and Game Over Esports qualified through winners, while Moom Esports, DreamMax, and Drago Unite X Kraken Gaming came through the Loser Bracket.
In classic EU fashion, Nouns Esports and Gen 5 faced off in the Winner Finals. Nouns claimed the win 2-1, propelled by an epic Rayquaza secure from ToonSlim in Game 2 of the Grand Finals, earning them their fifth title of the season.
DreamMax went on an impressive Loser Bracket run, knocking out heavyweights like Tuzzy. But it was Aegis Flames who stole the spotlight, dominating the Grand Finals 2-0 and claiming their second UCS title of the season.
Stamina Esports took an early hit, falling to Los Papulovers in the semifinals, but made it back via the Loser Bracket.
The final four also included Hoenn Plaga, Santos LAGUNA, and Los Papulovers
In a thrilling Grand Final, Hoenn Plaga edged out Stamina in a nail-biting Game 3, capturing another title and further solidifying their dominance in LATAM North.
Latin America South: Peru UNITE Strikes Back
LATAM South played out with few surprises, as expected contenders like Public Enemies, Pedritos, Yatagarasu, and Peru UNITE secured Top 4 finishes.
Public Enemies took down Peru UNITE in the Upper Bracket, but the latter returned with a vengeance. After eliminating Public Enemies 2-0 in the Losers Finals, Peru UNITE swept Pedritos in both the Grand Finals and the Reset, securing another hard-earned title.
America: March Cup Recap
With Luminosity Gaming absent due to competing in the Asia Champions League, the North American scene saw unexpected twists.
Day 1 upsets: Ti Gang beat favorites Orange Juicers, while T3 defeated a new veteran team. Nemesis had a rocky start but bounced back. Ignorance and Team YT advanced with strong showings.
Standing on Business had a breakthrough, reaching their first Grand Finals in four years after sweeping Team YT and beating T3.
Orange Juicers made a dramatic comeback from the lower bracket, surviving a tough match against T3 then sweeping Standing on Business in the Grand Finals.
After an electric conclusion to the 2024 Pokémon UNITE World Championships, the excitement didn’t stop. Just four days later in August, The Pokémon Company announced the launch of the Unite Championship Series (UCS) 2025, marking the longest season of competitive UNITE since the UCS was established in 2022. This time, the action kicked off in November 2024, setting the stage for an epic season that stretches all the way to the World Championships in August 2025.
Pokémon UNITE has a revamped qualification process, more LAN events, and a hefty $1,000,000+ USD prize pool, including $500,000 reserved for the World Championships. This season emphasized regional strength and consistent performance, shifting away from players changing their teams again and again.
Teams qualify for Worlds this Season via:
● Regional Finals Winner
● Aeos Cup Champion
● Asia Champions League Winner
● NAIC Final Stretch Winner
● Top Regional Point Placements Only
Date: November 15–17, 2024 Prize Pool: $25,000
● Open bracket with 32 teams
● Winner qualified as the only West representative for the ACL 2025 Finals.
● Luminosity Gaming began their dominant run here
Aeos Cup at EUIC
Date: February 21–23, 2025 Prize Pool: $50,000
● Includes winners from Aeos Cup Play-ins (EU, NA, LATAM-S/N & OCE)
● 30+ Teams attended the event
● Group Stage -> Single Elimination Bracket
● Luminosity secured their 2nd International title of this season
NAIC Final Stretch
Date: June 13–15, 2025 Prize Pool: $50,000
● Final Stretch Play-ins winners invited
● 64 teams battle in single-elimination
● Winner secures a direct spot to Worlds 2025
Asia’s tournament structure remains distinct. The Asia Champions League (ACL) began in November and led to the ACL Finals in March 2025. Notably:
● India’s S8UL Esports and Philippines’ Talon Esports have already secured their Worlds spots.
● Japan will determine its three representatives at the Pokémon Japan Championships (June 22–23)
● China has finalized its top teams through two domestic qualifiers.
● No Last Chance Qualifier for APAC this season – instead, teams qualify directly through regional pathways.
With only a few tournaments remaining, the April Cup (Apr 19–20) will be the final chance to earn Championship Points (CPs) and make the Top 12 cutoff for automatic qualification to Regional Group Stages.
From there, regional open qualifiers and finals will determine who truly stands among the best, with each country receiving Worlds spots based on regional performance.
NAIC in June will be the final golden opportunity for West teams to clinch a last-minute invite to Worlds.
As we approach the World Championships in August, it’s hard to believe how far the UCS 2024–25 journey has taken us. From self-funded LAN dreams in Brazil to full-scale global qualifiers, this season has tested every team’s endurance, strategy, and heart.
The finish line is in sight—but for many, the real battle is just beginning
Good luck to all teams as they fight for their spot on the biggest stage in Pokémon UNITE.
The rumors, the speculation, the hushed whispers – they can finally be put to rest! Nintendo blew the doors off the gaming world with a dedicated Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, 2025, pulling back the curtain on their next-generation console, officially titled the Nintendo Switch 2, and announcing a release date of June 5th, 2025. Get ready, because a new era of Nintendo gaming is almost upon us!
The highly anticipated Direct delivered a packed presentation, confirming many rumored features and unveiling exciting new details about the Switch 2 hardware and its upcoming software lineup. The console will launch at a price point of $449.99 for the base unit, with a bundle including the newly announced Mario Kart World available for $499.99.
The Direct demonstrated a notable advancement in technical proficiency. With HDR compatibility, the console will have a 7.9-inch LCD screen with 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate in handheld mode, an improvement above the original Switch's 6.2-inch screen. On compatible monitors, the Switch 2's 4K resolution output at 60Hz when docked will provide a sharper visual experience. Additionally, internal storage has increased significantly to 256GB, which is a great improvement for those who prefer digital content.
Additionally, Nintendo is improving the hardware with a number of significant enhancements. A magnetic attachment method has been added to the Joy-Con controllers, which should provide a more secure connection. In order to facilitate in-game communication with friends, a new "C" button has been added to the right Joy-Con. This button is devoted to a brand-new Game Chat function. GameShare, another cutting-edge feature, was revealed. It would let players share a game with others who don't own it so they can play together, but there will probably be restrictions. The console also has two USB-C connections and a more adjustable kickstand.
Nintendo confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch games, which is important for current Switch owners. This implies that your current library won't be rendered obsolete right away. Additionally, Nintendo is releasing "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" upgrades for a few current games, promising improved graphics and performance on the new system. Players will be able to rediscover Hyrule with greater fidelity thanks to the announced release of these updated versions of fan favourites including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which promises a breathtaking urban journey in Lumiose City, is also scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch 2, as previously disclosed.
The Direct's software presentation was similarly stunning. Mario Kart World, the most ambitious new game in the adored racing series, is the main attraction. It seems to include an open-world component that lets players drive between various settings with ease. Donkey Kong Bananza, a brand-new 3D platforming game for the big ape, was another significant announcement. Strong third-party support for the new system was indicated by the Direct's montage of other future games, which included both fresh reveals and ports of well-known third-party games including Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, and Hades II.
Long-time fans will be thrilled by Nintendo's announcement that GameCube titles will soon be available on the Nintendo Switch Online. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and F-Zero GX were among the titles displayed, giving a preview of the expanding collection of vintage games that will be available via the internet service.
A precise picture for Nintendo's immediate future was presented at the historic Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to revolutionise the gaming industry with its June 5th release date, a system brimming with new features and greater performance, and an alluring roster of both updated oldies and brand-new games. The wait is almost over; prepare to enjoy Nintendo's upcoming metamorphosis.
Prepare yourselves, Trainers, to return to the fashionable Kalos region—but not in the way you recall! Arriving in late 2025 on the Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, the next ambitious addition in the venerable Pokémon Legends series, will take us to a carefully planned "urban redevelopment" of Lumiose City. An improved version of the game has also been teased for the possible future Nintendo Switch 2.
The expansive wilderness of Hisui is no longer there; instead, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will provide a singular, confined experience that takes place solely in the futuristic city of Lumiose City. The city is being completely redesigned with the goal of making it a peaceful place for both people and Pokémon. A rich and complex universe full of mysteries and novel ways to engage with Pokémon is promised by this concentration on a single, dynamic area.
We do know that the fundamental gameplay loop will expand upon the framework established by Pokémon Legends: Arceus, even though specifics are still evaporating like a Malamar on a night without the moon. Compared to the conventional main series games, expect to study, watch, and capture Pokémon in a more straightforward and entertaining way. The urban environment, however, points to a novel method of investigation and learning. Will we be exploring the city's underworld, negotiating the busy streets, or climbing the famous Prism Tower? It's really thrilling to think about a live, breathing metropolis full with Pokémon.
The confirmed comeback of Mega Evolution adds even more suspense! A highlight of the first Pokémon X and Y, which was also set in Kalos, was this beloved feature that gives some Pokémon the ability to temporarily morph into formidable forms. It's exciting to see Mega Evolution, with its more action-focused gameplay, incorporated into the Legends framework. Consider the tactical options in the midst of an actual conflict!
When it comes to combat, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is bringing things to the next level by including battles in which Trainers and Pokémon are on the pitch together, moving and acting in real time. More strategic placement and thrilling, fast-paced battles may result from this dynamic approach to fighting, which is an evolution of the system in Legends: Arceus.
The creators have made an interesting decision for people who are unsure of their first companion Pokémon, providing a trio from distinct generations: the Water-type Totodile from Johto, the Fire-type Tepig from Unova, and the Grass-type Chikorita from Johto. This surprising choice suggests the wide variety of Pokémon we may find in the new ecology of Lumiose City.
Additionally, the Z-A Royale, a fight league in Lumiose City where trainers may test their abilities and advance through the ranks, is introducing a competitive aspect. This might offer a difficult distraction during the main quest or a gripping conclusion.
The inclusion of the mysterious character AZ, the tall figure from Pokémon X and Y, is likewise a mystery. His presence raises the possibility of a story that would explore the Kalos region's richer history and folklore and maybe provide further insight into the äлoette he so much cherishes.
