LETTER FROM ZENITH

VisitingtheEUIConeyearonafterthe introduction of INGAGE was a unique experience for me personally. I remember attending and having to introduce myself and INGAGE as new brand, sheepishlyaskingforinterviews and hoping people would remember me after the event. Nervously approaching people knowing full-well all INGAGE had was a logo and a vision. One year on and things could not have been any more different, fromprofessionalplayersaskingmeto sign for INGAGE and many community members welcoming me warmly,toPokemonProfessorscalling me over saying they’ve seen INGAGE online – I am forever thankful for the hard work the INGAGE team has put inovertheyear.

Having successfully pulled off a bootcamp with 11 teams attending, being featured on Esport News UK and working with GiantX - we had a memorable February. March will only capitalise on the momentum. With plans in the motion to host and dominate the grassroot scenes on a weekly basis in 4 different regions on 4 different days, sit back, and watch thecompetitivesceneentertainyou.

INTERVIEW WITH KOMAI #3

The Pokémon UNITE Championship Series (UCS) has been a thrilling battleground for some of the best teams in the world, and Komaï eSport has emerged as one of Europe’sbrighteststars.AttherecentEuropeanInternationalChampionships(EUIC)in London, Komaï eSport, led by their captain GekkOkami, secured an impressive 4th place finish—the highest of any EU team. We sat down with GekkOkami to discuss theirjourney, rivalries, andwhat’snextforthisdynamicsquad.

INTERVIEW WITH KOMAI

1. Finishing 4th place at the EUIC, the highest placement for an EU team. Was this a surprise, or did you expect better?

GekkOkami: I wouldn’t say it was a surprise at all. We went into the event fully confident that we could perform well and even had the potential to win it all. At the same time, we were aware of how volatile we can be as a team—something that could either secure us victory or cost us everything.

While 4th place is a strong result, we always aim higher. There were moments where we felt we could have pushed further, but overall, I’m proud of how we performed against some of the best teams in the world.

2. Pegging back the future-champions Luminosity 2-2—what were you telling your team whilst you were 2-0 down?

GekkOkami: I was telling the team: “We just beat them 2-0, let’s do it again.” (Even though GekkOkami knew the team was losing, he felt those games were wins due to how well they had played and how close they were—his own way to mentally charge his team to turn it around) Of course, the games were nail-biters, and we made our fair share of mistakes, but despite being down 2-0, we remained confident. The matches felt within our control, and as captain, I believe that bold reassurance in moments like this is key to keeping morale high.

Coming back to tie the series 2-2 was a testament to our resilience and teamwork. It showed that even when the odds are against us, we have the ability to adapt and fight back.

3. Tell us about your rivalry and relationship with the LG boys, Slash and Overlord.

GekkOkami: Slash and I go way back—we played together long before UCS was announced and before teams were region-locked. He later shared his early ideas for his UCS team and mentioned that he wanted to switch roles to Tank and play alongside Overlord. Given our mentor-like relationship, I passed along everything I knew, and it seems he put that to good use.

Every time I’ve qualified for an international event, LG has managed to eliminate me. The recent EUIC was my shot at revenge with a fresh roster, but we came up just short. Hopefully, we get to face off again soon. I have nothing but respect for those guys—they’re incredible players and competitors.

INTERVIEW WITH KOMAI #3

4. Having been at the bootcamp at the GiantX HQ—what was your experience like?

GekkOkami: The bootcamp was an incredible experience. We were warmly welcomed at GiantX HQ, and it gave us the chance to come together as a team for thefirsttime.Itwasalsoeye-openingforsomeoftherookies,whogottoexperience howplayinginasharedenvironmentdiffersfrompracticingalone.

Whether you're a hardcore fan or a casual viewer, this is a must-watch tournament that will showcase the best of the bestfromAsiaandbeyond

The Asia Champions League has been one of the most riveting tournament series Pokemon Unite has. Buriram United Esports (BUR) recently won their group for SEA and qualified to the ACL Playoffs as the third place team for Southeast Asia. We sat down with Verysadstory (SAD), the support player and manager for Buriram United, along with the organization itself to discuss the upcoming tournament, the ACL community, andeverythingaboutthegamewelove.

INTERVIEW WITH BURIRAM #4

1. How do you feel about joining Buriram and making a splash performance?

SAD: I feel happy that we made it but there is a long way to go we have to move on from happy moments. Joining BRU is a next step from competitive player to Pro player with more pressures because the people watching us represent one of the most famous clubs in SEA.

2. What were the challenges?

SAD: We keep getting better every day because our opponents are having good practice and they keep upgrading themself. That is the reason we also can’t stop.

3. What team would you like to face more?

SAD: I have three (3) favorite Indian teams, S8UL, my old friends and practice partners, Global ESports and RNTx. They’re hot at this moment. Wish to face 2/3 of them and my team met in Japan Offline.

4. Unite will be in the Asia Games in Nagoya, What do you think about the impact that the game's competition could have with that announcement?

SAD: I think we all can predict who will be represented by each country, but in the community's view, it will be hyped and encourage people to play this game and make PU well known worldwide

4. We’ve seen support from Buriram in making community tournaments. What do they think about Unite?

BUR: BUR identifies that there is a demand for both casual and competitive players to have more access, to have a stage to test their limits, and get a taste of the competitive scene.

(Pokemon Unite) caters to both casual and competitive audiences, with unique game mechanics that stand out from other MOBAs, alongside its variety of characters for both Pokemon fans and people who may be unfamiliar with Pokemon. The aesthetic alongside the fundamentals beginner-friendly to get into and from my own experience from playing I had a blast playing my favorite Pokemon alongside my friends

INTERVIEW WITH BURIRAM #4

5. What message would you like to give the Thai community?

BUR: I’d like to personally thank both Pokemon Unite and the Thai community on behalf of both the Pokemon Unite and esports community in Thailand. It is always touching to see well-renowned companies and brands giving Thailand a chance and bringing something fresh into the Thai esports community. At the same time, it's equally touching to see the Thai esports community welcoming Pokemon Unite with open arms. The esports industry can only continue to grow if we both support each other and I'm glad to see that we are walking towards the right direction for the future of esports in Thailand.

6. How do you see the current competitive landscape of the Thai community locally in comparison to the rest of Asia and the world?

BUR: The current competitive scene in Thailand is unique compared to the global scale. Thailand and SEA is mobile-dominated, due to accessibility to the games through their phones differs from other regions where it is more PC/console dominated. This means that the esports scene here is venturing into uncharted territory, which we view as a good problem.

The competitive scene is moving in the right direction but there’s a lack of accessibility in the Thai community. Not everyone who may want to have a taste of (eSports) competition may not have the opportunity to compete, which is why we are very pleased to have Pokemon Unite enter the Thai Esports scene to provide a pathway for those interested in testing their competitive prowess.

It is our challenge and duty as an esports organization to push and reach new heights on behalf of Thailand and the esports industry within our country and region. We hope that our organization can be a good example and a pillar within the esports industry to ensure that the esports industry is moving and growing in the right direction.

Okay, gamers, realtalk:PokémonUNITEisalreadyabigdeal, right? We'veseenthecrazybattles, the clutch plays, the whole esports scene exploding – especially with it being a star at the Pokémon World Championships. Suddenly, you've got a whole wave of new players thinking, "Whoa, what IS this game?!" Player base? Prepare for blast-off!
