A Green Wall - KG1 / MS

As part of their unit of inquiry “How the World Works”, KG1 and Moyenne Section students in Ain Aar inquired into the different types of materials, their properties, and how people manipulate them to meet their needs and wants in a responsible manner. By the end of the unit, students gained an understanding of how material reuse (upcycling) can be a sustainable and creative solution for reducing waste and creating new objects. On another hand, students inquired into the characteristics of plants and their importance in sustaining life on Earth as part of their unit of inquiry “Sharing the Planet”. After reflecting on both understandings, they decided to take action by creating a green wall at school, made from reused plastic bottles and planted with rosemary.
As part of their unit of inquiry “How the World works”, GS A and GS B learners in Ain Aar explored the properties of light and sound and their importance in our daily lives. To give meaning to their learning, they decided to take action and created, in Arabic, a digital book titled “تــفتخا
سمــشلا”. The books aim at raising awareness about the importance of light for the environment and people.
