Family STEAM Day

Throughout the year, our KGII and GS students have engaged in various STEAM projects, where they went through the stages of the design process to create a prototype to solve a particular problem or to take action as a result of their inquiry. To celebrate their hard work, parents were invited for a day of exploration and learning during Family STEAM Days on May 18 and 19. The event was a resounding success, fostering a sense of wonder and curiosity among our young learners and their families. Throughout the 2 days, KGII and GS families immersed themselves in a wide array of hands-on STEAM activities, and design challenges. The event started with a 15-minute introduction by Mrs. Najah Sakr, the Ed. Tech Coordinator, where she provided the parents with a quick overview of the why and how of STEAM education, explained the day’s purpose, reviewed the expectations, and presented the tasks at each station. After that, the parents joined their children to decide on a design challenge to engage in.
The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as children and their loved ones collaborated, problem-solved, and engaged in critical thinking to tinker, make and engineer. To wrap up the session, the students and their parents reconvened to share their creations and reflect on the learning experience and the challenges that they faced. This interactive experience provided a unique opportunity for families to bond while nurturing a love for STEAM disciplines. We are grateful for the enthusiastic participation and support from our parents, as they play an invaluable role in inspiring and encouraging their children’s educational journeys. We look forward to more enriching family events in the future, as we continue to nurture a love for learning and exploration.
